Alardo is intended for branding that is synonymous with sports. The initial character was built in bold with a bold personality, but thin strokes and flowing italics provide a flexible and unique family series. Glyphs are made in low contrast strokes, short ascenders and descenders, and low caps.

This typeface is Mergenthaler Linotype’s unlicensed version of Futura, copied weight by weight from Bauer. It was produced in 1939 when Metro failed to gain a significant share of the market, and was later adopted by ATF. The small sizes of Book and Heavy cut for classified are original.

Potpourri was based on an energetic alphabet written by expert calligrapher Gottfried Pott. To create the elegant yet rugged strokes, Pott cut a pen with a unique fringed tip — from a drinking straw! He then produced an huge series of drafts before deciding on the final alphabet for digitization.

Unearthed by our friend Dimitris Karaiskos in an antique shop in Vienna, we digitized it and added more glyphs. Blitzplakat is the name of this pre-Letraset system, where you could make your own little advertising posters by cutting out these letters and sticking them on paper like stamps.

Alaca typeface was designed, based on its octagonal form, as contemporary, dynamic and modern font family. While designing Alaca typeface each glyph was given a form to link with other glyphs. Gauche Display is a "tasteless and awkward" script font for those who don't exactly want sophistication in their typographic script usage. Er, um, uh..."inspired" by several script fonts (all of which look much, much prettier), you can't take your eyes off this font, much in the same way you can't stop looking at a trainwreck. In other words, it sucks on purpose and lives up (or down, take your pick) to its name.

Calorie Suit is a clean and super sharp comic font. Actually the use of Calorie Suit is quite wide. I'd like to dare you to use this font for massive texts, even though the real force of the font is for one liners or catchwords. Originally drawn in hand, and then cleaned up beyond recognition - but keeping the characteristics of the original sketch. You may notice influences from graffiti here and there too! :)

Multicolored Fonts Many years ago, when Xerox Corporation still had its own font department, I came to Los Angeles in 1985 to train the IKARUS program. One day Bill Kienzel, head of the Xerox font department at the time, said we should go to the Hollywood Hills together; he knew people there who were experimenting with multicolored fonts. After a little wandering through the winding streets of the many hills, we reached a somewhat overgrown, simple family house standing under trees. A group of very inspired designers were waiting for us there. They immediately showed us the works they created using photomechanical tricks. They were fascinating. The American colors and the whole look seemed noble and enchanting. The problem was that this process was very difficult to implement and required a lot of effort on individual letters. They dreamed of a colored font that could be used for normal typesetting. We thought back and forth about how to save the individually colored letters in a common font, but soon gave up because we didn't see a technical option. So this idea and the memory of the time in Hollywood lay dormant in the back of my mind for many years, until at the beginning of this year 2023 I received an order to produce an outline typeface and the story came back to me. Suddenly I knew how to solve the problem from back then: if only the areas that should have the same color in all letters were saved in their own separate fonts, they could be colored independently of each other and later placed on top of each other. I implemented this in the 5 fonts that are now available with the 3 variants “Outside”, “Middle” and “Inside”. Together with the background, 4 colors can be combined with each other. This method works in text programs such as Word or InDesign. In Photoshop or Illustrator, the individual surfaces can also be colored by converting them into paths if the additional “Complete” variants (which contain all 3 contours) are used. There is also a “Basic” variant that can be used to achieve special effects such as overlay, bleed, etc. The first 5 fonts in this series are all based on the principle of contouring. Anyone who claims that you don't need any special fonts because they can be created automatically from any font using common programs is wrong or is only telling only half the truth. Anyone who has ever dealt with this knows that many individual adjustments to the design are necessary after contouring. This has happened in the 5 fonts that are now available and have very different styles. The dream from back then has come true. A collision between some stylin' caps from legendary lettering artist Samuel Welo and a lowercase loosely based on ATF’s Romany Script yields this curious little wonder. Named after a 70s song which averred that all it took to be “the coolest guy what is what am” is to talk fast, walk slow and look good wearing that 'hair. Please note that, due to the exaggerated overhang of the many of the uppercase characters, this font has been optimized for upper- and lowercase uses. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.
