One of the earliest fonts published by Canada Type was Almanac, Phil Rutter's digitization of Imre Reiner's 1957 calligraphic typeface, London Script. Architype Crouwel is a collection of typefaces created in collaboration with Wim Crouwel, following his agreement with The Foundry, to recreate his experimental alphabets as digital fonts. Crouwel's most recognized work was for the Van Abbe and Stedelijk museums (1954 –72) where he established his reputation for radical, grid-based design. Architype Catalogue originates from Wim Crouwel’s Stedelijk Museum exhibition catalogue for sculptor Claes Oldenburg, 1970. The cover’s soft ‘padded’ letterforms evoke the artist’s work. Oldenburg was so taken with the design, that he asked Crouwel to complete the alphabet.

My wife was watching a baking show in which a Scottish guy attempted to cook a clootie. A what?? A clootie??? Never heard of a clootie! Apparently it is a suet dumpling, containing dried fruits (like raisins) and boiled in a piece of cloth (clootie means ‘rag’ or ‘strip of cloth’ in Scottish). Clootie font is a handmade bundle of happiness. It is rounded, soft and legible and will look particularly good on book covers. And I promise you all: one day I will cook clooties to find out what they taste like!

I present you Trečiokas typeface. This two font family is based on written letters that were sketched by using paint markers and afterwards pollished digitally. Glyphs mostly are connected, leaving some separate, as a contrast to round and soft letter shapes. It includes extended latin character set. In 2013 I made the Aerofont project, which included custom music instruments that were made based on Trečiokas Normal letter shapes. The main idea was to connect music and typography, by making sound emitting letters. You can watch the project video here.

I made this font on the first day of summer in Denmark 2020 - the rounded corners and the soft and easy look of Sunshine Formula, really got me into the "this-is-going-to-be-a-great-summer" mode! :)

The compendium Alphabete: ein Schriftaltas von A bis Z listed the pattern for this family of faces under the name Chicago which, owing to the number of other faces using the same name, makes its origins difficult to ascertain. In the early years of the twentieth century a number of romans with a soft and slightly script like quality were evolved. Although they did not represent the future in terms of the major design influences that were to appear after the First World War, they were a break with the past, and were developed further in the nineteen twenties and thirties. Monotype Bernard Condensed is closely associated with this period, a condensed roman evoking an easy charm.
