An old ad for Cointreau Triple Sec Liquor featured a bolder variant of the lettering style found in a set of vintage tin stencils that were the model for French Stencil JNL. This is now available as Belle Epoque Stencil JNL, in both regular and oblique versions. “Belle Epoque” means “beautiful era” in French.

Frederic Goudy designed Tory in the spirit of the ‘lettres batarde’ found Geoffry Tory’s Champ Fleury. He was looking to create a romantic type for which to typeset the book Auccasin et Nicolette. It was one of Goudy’s favorite typefaces of his own creation and it is digitized by Steve Matteson to preserve that legacy.

Best Bet JNL is a hybrid approach in reinterpreting the classic display font Beton. Using examples of the condensed version found on old sheet music, redesigning a few additional characters and melding them with slightly condensed versions of numbers from the standard weight, Best Bet JNL offers an interesting new version to an old favorite.

This handwritten font is the result of trying to write in a different way to what I'm used to: sometimes taking a left turn when going straight was the more obvious way. Or the other way around. The result was quite readable and it turned out that I could make surprisingly matching monographs with it.

This Gelora font is luxurious and classic engraved that is suitable for any design such as book covers, posters, quote designs, apparel, etc. This font is inspired by a colossal theme from the Roman Empire or something like a Gladiator story, but I found this font also looks suitable for a western cowboy theme.

Stonecut JNL is an adaptation of a novelty display face found in one of the Dan X. Solo lettering books. Resembling letters made from cut stone, both the inline and solid black versions are perfect for themes encompassing outdoors, the Stone Age, "macho" events or anything where an unpolished or rustic look can be adapted.

From a few letters found on an old bank document from 1876, Maverick's Luck was born, and born again to give your projects that old western appearance. Maverick's Luck comes with multiple fill fonts, you will need an application that works in layers in order to use the fill fonts that come with FontMesa fonts.

Despite its macabre-sounding name, Headstone Roman JNL is not a novelty font for Halloween or horror movies. Instead, it's an attractive Roman typeface based on an example provided of a guide for stonecutters to use when cutting epitaphs into tombstones. Headstone Roman JNL is available in regular, oblique, condensed and condensed oblique versions.

The Irish monk Columbanus founded early monasteries across Western Europe starting in the Sixth Century, bringing literacy in his wake. As the Patron Saint of Motorcyclists, the adventurous Columbanus is both gallant and respected. The font is Classical Roman with a Celtic accent, great for a range of applications from the sacred to the profane.

Cornfield JNL was inspired by lettering found on a 1950s box of popcorn. The unusual character shapes add a nostalgic, folksy charm from the Heartland or a slightly Western feel to projects reflecting simpler times.

Historical typography makes a comeback. A revival of one of the most popular of a number of rugged typefaces used around the turn of the century, Croft revives the creation of Lewis Buddy III, known as "Roycroft" in 1912 ATF catalogs. It also, according to ATF, was designed "partly" by Morris Benton, around 1898. The original typeface might be considered an early form of grunge fonts. This typestyle maintains historical flavor, while also being relevant today. It has been expanded to have more discretionary ligatures and numerals sets for versatility, and maintains the original stylistic alternates and standard ligatures. So it can be very legible and space efficient at the same time: the curves keep the distinctions between the letters, the corners keep the influences from broadnibbed pens with a subtle horizontal stress for great legibility. Olivia has personality without being obtrusive. Three weights (light, regular, bold) are equipped with real italics, SmallCaps, different sets of figures, accents for almost every latin script, arrows, symbols. A fourth weight (black) comes without italics or SmallCaps, but all the other features. Olivia: with or without.

Frank H. Atkinson was a popular Art Nouveau sign painter in Chicago, Illinois. He designed signs for the Cadillac Motor Car Co., Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the department store Marshall Field. Oddly enough, he even designed signs for other sign painters. In 1908 he published a book, Sign Painting, which sold well. French Plug, a bold, rounded, all-cap design in an American Art Nouveau style from that book. It has a relaxed, easy-going informality that is useful for ads and flyers. It also would have fit very nicely with many French posters of the period.

Yuki is a full and rounded font that also manages to be compact, so when you need to make a big impact in a small space and still maintain a friendly feel, Yuki is here to do the job. In two different styles, each with bold alternatives, Yuki’s best function is to grab attention without taking up too much space. The lined form allows it to look even more streamlined in this performance, cutting shapes into more easily digestible pieces, while the bold forms create even more smoothness. Breitkopf Fraktur was designed by Johann Gottlob Immanuel Breitkopf (1719-1794), the well-known type designer and printer of Leipzig. Breitkopf's high reputation is based on a system of printing musical notes which was developed by him. 1793, in the final stage of his life, he designed this beautiful broken script named after himself.Breitkopf Fraktur is classified as broken", something created by the German renaissance. Broken, because all round parts of the lower case characters in such typefaces look broken.Ralph M. Unger redrew and digitized this font exclusively for profonts in 2003. His work is based on artwork taken from old font catalogues."

This typeface was designed to be used as the page heading font for MyFonts. Originally only the letters needed to make up the required phrases were drawn. Then amazingly enough, people started asking where they could get the font, so I decided to complete the character set, and named it Softie. This name was chosen because the round and rather bulbous shapes that make up the letters reminded me of marshmallows. Softie, almost good enough to eat. The Bold version, called Softie Bloated, was added in late 2003. Rumor has it that the name came to Steve after Thanksgiving dinner.

Channel B was derived from the logo for Channel B, a British entertainment internet channel, anchored by former Soccer AM presenter Tim Lovejoy at www.dailymotion.com/channelbee. I’m not sure what it was in 2008 when I first ran across the logo, but that elegant capital B seemed to cry out for a font to support it. Many of the capitals, numbers and other glyphs of Channel B are split into a top and bottom, but not all. The tall, condensed capitals are contrasted to the rounded lowercase (derived from the bottom half of the B, rotated 180°).

Melts Script from Estudio Calderón is a typeface based on Harlow Solid SB from Colin Brignall. It is made by round traces, with a simple design and a slightly “chubby” look. We wanted to propose a new version that works as an alternative of Harlow Solid, with connectors at the same heightand a complementary Font “Melts Sanscript” with sans serif capitals to be combined with lowercase scripts. A modern sans serif with open round forms. The ”round“ letters emphasize the condensed open oval; the light counter forms provide the rhythm of the typeface, causing the typeface to appear gentle and pleasing. The ”modern“ design of a and g being especially contributive here. All of the letters are recognizably narrow, almost ”condensed,“ the forms being very functionally shaped. The construction of the ”triangular“ upper case letters A M N V W as well as v and w, especially catches the eye with the shafts joined together as beams are stacked upon each other. With this construction Hedwig displays a down-to-earth touch. Contrary to the classical sans serifs, a few letters were given light echoes of serifs which promote fluency: a d l are displayed below the line in a reading direction and end in a compressed but also very short serif style; on m n p r the upstroke is gently displayed and on u the downstroke. For all the typo-maniacs among you designers there are alternative forms for a number of letters in Hedwig: A B D G I M R W and a d f g j l ß u. Even an antiquated ”long“ s and an upper case ß is available. Plus, Hedwig includes numerous ligatures which can save that little bit of space where required and which allow the typeface to appear more variable: ch, ck, ct, fi, fj, fl, ff, ffi, ffl, ft, mm, ti, tt, tz.

Conspired Lovers is based on five years of love-letter writing. A font to capture the intentions of love letters more than any other font. How did the Project start? In the last five years I wrote love letters with two persons. I became used to the joy of handwriting with ink and nib on fine paper. Through practice a experimentation my style continuously refined. As life moves on, suddenly I found myself with no one to write love letters to. It's a luxury to have someone to write letters to. Missing the joy of writing and listening to Gregory Porter’s “Be Good”, the decision was made to take this 5 years of writing and make this dance on paper a font. A handwritten typeface for everyone to use. This font was created in July, 2012 and named Conspired Lovers. A font to capture and convey your message in a special way to the beloved one close to your heart. Four fonts — found on a map of America, created by the spanish cartographer Diego Gutiérrez and the dutch engraver Hieronymus Cock anno 1562. From the start of the digitization by Sebastian Nagel in 2005, Tierra Nueva has gone a long way. On its journey of exploration it has grown to four members of a family (regular, bold, italic and script) with an overall count of almost 3.700 characters for different languages and purposes, extensively featured with useful typographic options. Over six years after the start of the expedition, it shall be launched. Land ahoy!

Hyggemand is not a real word: it is a combination of Hygge (meaning ‘fun’ or ‘coziness’ in Danish) and Mand (which means man in Danish). Combined it means something like ‘Nice Man’. I just like the sound and look of this name, so if I offend Danish languages purists, then I apologise for this monstrosity! ;-) Hyggemand is a happy kids font that comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case glyphs. If you want the cute Huggeman face, you will find it as a stylistic alternate for the asterisk.

Xanthine… is a purine base found in most human body tissues. Yes, you can forget that. I don’t even know what it means, but I suddenly realised that I was running low on fonts with an ‘x’ in the name. Xanthine font is a messy brush: it is all caps, but upper and lower case mingle freely. It comes with a whole bunch of diacritics and some interesting ligatures as well. I have included a very handy shapez pack and a truckload of arrows - anything to make you happy…

Compagnon is a friend, a partner. This handmade display font will come in super handy when you are working on that book cover, or the packaging of a product. It will shine on posters and websites and it will keep you warm at night. I guess that last bit is an exaggeration… Compagnon comes in three distinct styles: a ‘regular’ version, which is a bit rough around the edges, a ‘dirty’ version, with a juicy eroded look and a polka dot version. Kairos is equal parts traditional and digital. Inspired by 19th century wood type fonts called Grecians, it’s an octagonal slab serif at its core. The serif detailing makes it radiate in headlines, with the square serifs driving its performance in text. The 51 weights and widths—all with small caps—offer a flexible and usable contemporary palette of styles perfect for branding, advertising and packaging. Kairos is stout, but has energy. It often looks athletic, industrial, and stern, while the subtle rounded features can also give it a gentlemanly and gracious demeanor. Loncherita is a typeface created by Fabio Eduardo Godoy Angel and has 5 files: Fill, Fill Outline, Shadow 1, Shadow 2 and dingbats variables. Its purpose is to serve as a childish fantasy modular typography useful in logo design and merchandising. It is also recommended to compose expressive titles that need the option in which letters can be colored by layers. In that sense Loncherita is a typeface with logic italic vertical logical and its amount of contrast between thick and thin strokes is monoline, its antlers are mullets and rounded ends. It is also important to note that ii has 26 Dingbats designed to be point of attention and illustrate countless children and playful issues.

Sheridan Gothic, also known as Grant Antique, is a quaint design produced in the late nineteenth century. Its proportions are in keeping with extra condensed faces of the times. Its uppercase letters are quite narrow. Its lowercase letters are equally narrow and tall. This pleasant and enduring design contains a touch of novelty, too. Swelled terminal flourishes on such characters as C, J, S, c, e, r, and s help add interest and warmth to what is basically a friendly old soul. This variation in the Tangential series (see also the Standard & Rounded families) continues with the angles that give the typeface its name, however a semi-serif is applied wherever appropriate to create a more open, softer variant. The Tangential style I envisaged for the family is complemented by the prominent use of negative space throughout, most apparent on the drop shaped ‘o’ which is a key feature of the typeface and a letterform I'm particularly pleased with.
