The Hybi14-Boldie is a bold Script in two styles. It’s lack of excessive details makes it appropriate for all oportunities of headlines, slogans and advertising. It’s friendly and charming character makes it pleasant to look at. The fonts are offering a huge character set for usage in many languages. Also thousands of kerning pairs within each style are obligatory.

This font is based on a lot of the downtempo culture in Paris. Smoky bars, jazz clubs, that sort of thing. How a font can be influenced by intangibles is a question that I can't quite answer, but I can say that when I created it, it strongly reminded me of a couple of times spent in Paris back in the mid-90s.

Chelsnuts was inspired by old Art Deco typefaces used in poster art back in the 1920s. Yet, in addition it has a playful side that makes it unique to the sharp letterforms typically seen in similar ultra-thick typefaces. Also included are lowercase letters, not typically seen in fonts such as this, and a customized outlined version of the font.

Ornata C is the third of a series of old ornaments that I am trying to save from oblivion. I am not just scanning these, I am completely redesigning the ornaments from scratch, thereby eliminating imperfections. These ornaments have been first designed by a designer named Ben Sussan. Clear Sans™ is a… wait for it… rational geometric sans serif. It is intended to fill a niche… to provide an alternative to the somewhat based-on-vernacular signage, somewhat geometric sans. I hear the word vernacular thrown around too much and too loosely. If a typeface is based in the vernacular, based on hand-painted or hand-crafted signage, then it should be based on the movements of the hand, retain that warmth and not on a pretty geometric model. For me, clean, geometric and precise doesn't have to be cold and expressionless. The original skeleton was hand-painted in 2008 to help determine and inform my decisions going forward. The typeface was completed shortly afterwards at the behest of an old friend for their identity. As usual, I expanded it, but considered retiring it since there were so many things similar out there. Years later, I had a chance to rediscover it and came to the conclusion that it could be improved, expanded in a logical and useful way, and introduced. I would be lying if I didn't admit that the rise of webfonts and embedded type in applications influenced many of the decisions I made about reworking Clear Sans™. Completely new Text and Screen fonts were developed that utitlize larger x-heights, space-saving widths, logical (and simplified) weight offerings… to name a few alterations. Even the pricing of each variant was considered to produce a more reasonable and simple solution for the developer, designer, professional and novice. Balboa is a display design combining elements of early sans serif and grotesque types with contemporary types. It evolved from ATF Headline Gothic, Banner (a headline typeface I drew for the San Francisco Chronicle), and Newsweek No.9, a Stephenson Blake-like grotesque I designed for Roger Black's 1980 redesign of Newsweek Magazine. There are nine styles, including the three new styles that have been added in 2014: Medium, Light and Ultra Light.

In spite of its angular appearance, Origami is composed almost exclusively of curves. Designer Carl Crossgrove derived the typeface from experiments in designing a low resolution type. The resulting face is reminiscent of Eastern European expressionist designers such as Oldrich Menhart and Vojtech Preissig. It is paired with an equally angular chancery italic. Origami works effectively for short blocks of text or at display sizes, while the capitals are especially suitable for titles.

Based on a vintage set of kitchen labels, Jams and Jellies JNL is a font containing 52 of the most common names for jams, jellies and preserves as well as a blank label for creating your own flavor choices. Let Me Call You Sweetheart was one of the most popular songs of the early 20th Century, and a piece of vintage sheet music for this tune had its title hand lettered in a square, narrow block lettering style.
