»Cristal Text« has nice to read lower case letters. It contains 636 letters per font style and some Open Type features: Different stylistic alternates and different sets of numerals. It is not monospaced: Therefor it stays not true to an underlying grid like it’s bigger brother »Cristal True«. But this offers a better legibility. The basis of this font is a Union-Jack or sixteen-segment display (SISD). I have found myself in the need of a precise and well-made font, that simulates the look of such a LCD display. Also it should offer enough letters and language support for the whole European region as well as different font styles.

Teen Years JNL was inspired by the hand lettered name for the Joyce Records label (circa 1956) which first recorded the New York doo-wop group The Crests (of “16 Candles” fame). The type design is a block sans serif, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Bank of England is loosely based on the blackletter lettering from Series F English twenty pound banknotes introduced in 2007. When Candy Script was officially released and in the hands of a few designers, I was in the middle of a three-week trip in North America. After returning to Buenos Aires, I found a few reactions to the font in my inbox. Alongside the congratulatory notes, flattering samples of the face in use, and the inevitable three or four “How do I use it?” emails, one interesting note asked me to consider an italic counterpart. 

I had experimented with a few different angles during the initial brainstorming of the concept but never really thought of Candy Script as an upright italic character set. A few trials confirmed to me that an italic Candy Script would be a bad idea. However, some of these trials showed conceptual promise of their own, so I decided to pursue them and see where they would go. Initially, it seemed a few changes to the Candy Script forms would work well at angles ranging from 18 to 24 degrees, but as the typeface evolved, I realized all the forms had to be modified considerably for a typeface of this style to work as both a digital font and a true emulation of real hand-lettering. Those were the pre-birth contractions of the idea for this font. I called it Sugar Pie because it has a sweet taste similar to Candy Script, mostly due to its round-to-sharp terminal concept. This in turn echoes the concept of the clean brush scripts found in the different film type processes of late 1960s and early 1970s.
 
While Candy Script’s main visual appeal counts on the loops, swashes, and stroke extensions working within a concept of casual form variation, Sugar Pie is artistically a straightforward packaging typeface. Its many ligatures and alternates are just as visually effective as Candy Script’s but in a subtler and less pronounced fashion. The alternates and ligatures in Sugar Pie offer many nice variations on the main character set. Use them to achieve the right degree of softness you desire for your design. The Women's Suffrage Movement gained women the right to vote in 1920. Up until then there were many ways undertaken to rally sympathy for the cause. In 1916 Alice Paul formed the National Woman's Party. That same year a song with the [exhaustive] sixteen word title "She's Good Enough to be Your Baby's Mother (And She's Good Enough to Vote with You)" yielded a hand lettered Art Nouveau sans serif design in the main portion of the title. This became the basis for Plain Nouveau JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

This is a revival font of a sixteenth century typeface. I kept this font as close as possible to the original letters, including the imperfections and irregularities, to preserve the look of antiquity. Some of the letters of the original sample were missing and had to be created from the available letters.

Candycorn Overdose represents how I used to feel on the morning after Halloween, way back when I was young enough to go out begging for candy.

CoffeeMug has letters on coffee mugs. Upper-case letters have the handles to the left and lower-case characters have the handles to the right. The letters on the mugs are from the typeface InsideLetters. The typeface contains characters that will add color to letters. There are two ways to do this. One uses layers and the other a combination of characters, some with zero-width. A file in the gallery explains the ways that this can be done.

The typeface Garaldus was presented in 1956 by Italian designer Aldo Novarese, inspired by Venetian tradition of the sixteenth century: the font name derives from Claude Garamond and Aldus Manutius. A peculiarity of this font is to change appearance, acquiring a form a more or less angular, depending on the size of the text and the way in which it is printed.
