Hand lettering isn’t a perfect art form, and this is why it often has an appeal over formal typesetting. Individual interpretation can lead to variations in style, character shape and overall design concept. Case in point: The hand-drawn title for the1933 sheet music “Why Can’t This Night Go on Forever” is a simple Art Deco sans, however it mixes character widths and even angles the letter ‘C’ in a nonconventional way. Deco Design JNL is the digital version of this alphabet, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

One of the odder things I remember from high school (50+ years ago) is the tile floor of hexagons in the bathroom. There is something fascinating with the way hexagons fill the plane. BakerHalfDozen is made of white letters that fit on black, hexagonal tiles. BakerHalfWhite switches the letters to black on white tiles, and BakerHalfBare eliminates the tiles. There are no true lower-case letters, but some letters have alternate shapes. To make the tiles line up right, alternate lines must be indented half a space. Use the {} characters (brackets) to do this.

D Hanna Soft is a sans serif type family of 9 weights plus matching italics. Elida JNL was modeled from an image of some wood type for sale online. Although the type design most likely has its roots in the classic Bodoni, there were a few characters in the original wood type that had a bit of a square or block shape to them. Those characters were modified in order to keep with the overall roundness of the other characters. The name Elida JNL comes from a small town in New Mexico. Available in six styles: Regular, Oblique, Extra Condensed, Extra Condensed Oblique, Ultra Condensed and Mega Condensed.

RFX elegant is an elegant bolder typeface that looks modern and defies previous conventions. Is it a serif typeface? Yes and no. Although it doesn't actually have serifs, the curves give it the elegance of serifs. The curves make it look pleasing and friendly, but the breaks still give it a strong character. It can be used mixed and versal. It is ideal for occasions where friendliness and beauty meet elegance and character. It also offers language support for the entire European region, as well as for North & South America and Oceania.

Tiza is a rough take on informal faces and handwriting, brought on by the recent demand for scripts and brush lettering. Its flow leaves traces simulating runny pen ink, which makes it very suitable for handwriting-like paragraphs as well as casual greeting card and invitation setting. The bold weight, Tiza Negra, fits very nicely on book covers as well as large signs. Tiza is the proverbial reminder that typefaces can sometimes be more human than they are normally perceived. Designed by lettering great Angel Koziupa, and digitized and completed for Sudtipos by Alejandro Paul.

The six typefaces of the Kyhota group all have an “Old West” look to them. KyhotaOne has very thick slab serifs compared to KyhotaTwo. KyhotaBarbed is more condensed than either and has little barbs on the verticals, something that was a feature of a number of nineteenth century typefaces in this style. KyhotaFezdaz is condensed, without barbs, and with the slab serifs replaced with a flare serif. KyhotaBigBottom and KyhotaBigTop play with the weighting of the serifs, with one (either top or bottom) very thin and the other very thick.

Greenbriar AEF bears resemblance to blackletter, crisply drawn and creating a hypnotic rhythm through the interplay of stroke and counter, wieght and width. The Greenbriar numbering scheme is based on the weight and width axes of a multiple master from which the instances are generated. The first number in any of the series (1 through 5) relates to the width The second two numbers (20 through 80, in 20-unit increments) relates to the weight within the width series. Nurom is a contemporary sans-serif typeface influenced by the early grotesque style which is neutral and legible in purpose with a fresh personality. The goal wasn't about historic revival; it was to make a new Grotesk that could compete in an overcrowded market while offering strength, clarity and function across a vast array of applications. Liquoia are three scripts with lots of contrast and different embellishments. Liquoia-A has the elegant, flaming decoration it blends well with Fleurons-Six. Liquoia-B has the flowery embellishments and goes very well with my Ornata-A and Ornata-B. Liquoia-C is the plain, straightforward and solid floating script. The name is derived from "liquid", meaning it is a fluid script that has a distinctive waveform. The "oia" part of the name comes from Sequoia, the sturdiest tree that came to my mind. Cooks call thinly cut - like matchsticks - vegetables "Julienne". I found that was a fitting name for this very narrow typeface. Julienne Slim is the extreme cut of the two. Personally I do not use narrow typefaces very often, but from time to time they come in handy if there is much text to be crammed into little space. Originally designed by American type designer Morris Fuller Benton in 1933, Agency Gothic is a wonderful, narrow, squarish art deco typeface. I was commissioned by Publish magazine to create digital versions of Agency Gothic Open and Agency Gothic Condensed for a redesign in 1990. Since then, I have added four other styles. Agency Gothic CT is uppercase only and supports most European languages that use the Latin or Cyrillic alphabets. The Agency Gothic CT family is available in six weights/styles: Light, Medium, Bold, Condensed, Inline, and Open.

Frakto is a two-weight family of calligraphic Fraktur-style typefaces designed by Julius de Goede. One of the main categories of Blackletter typefaces, Fraktur was developed around 1517, and was used throughout Germany and Northern Europe well into the 20th century. With Frakto, Julius de Goede has re-applied the written element of the script back into the Fraktur style, rejuvenating and reinvigorating it for 21st century display use. Frakto is the perfect fit for certificates and newsletter headlines. We recommended using it in point sizes from 12-pt on up.

The original sheet music for Ted (Is Everybody Happy?) Lewis’ signature tune, When My Baby Smiles at Me, inspired this whimsical wonder. The sheet music was discovered in the Library of Congress American Memory Collection, an incredible online resource. The typeface gets its name from a slightly loony early 1900s comic strip by Fontaine Fox. This new and improved version has beefed-up outlines, so it renders well even at smaller sizes. DIN 2014 Rounded is an extension of the industrial sans serif DIN 2014. It combines the softness and friendliness of the rounded endings with the seriousness and stability of the original typeface. The Killegar family is inspired by one of the great houses of Ireland...Killegar—which is on the grand Estate of Killegar. I lived there for many years. It is a quiet and peaceful place surrounded by lakes and trees and is inspirational in so many ways. All of my creative talents were boosted by this amazing two hundred year old building with all of it's secrets and heritage. Time stood still in Killegar....except for me and my modern day computers, cell phones and fax machines. This twist of fate, with me living both a rural and hi-tech life, living in an environment of the early 18th century, with the friendliest local people on the Earth, played it's part in the origin of the Killegar family of fonts. Esteric, originally created with a concept of happiness, fun and playful. Designed initially as an all-caps font. Lowercase are just slightly lower than Capitals. Also, Esteric is created with some OpenType features, such as stylistic alternates, interlocks, and tons of ligatures. Joy and Playful guaranteed! What is interlock? When you are using the stylistic of a rounded letter O and meet another letter with stylistic rounded forms like C and G, glyphs define the space and merged like a ligature. Best scene for using Esteric place like a Party, Happy Events, Fun projects. Any media is suitable based on the concept. But Esteric won’t fit with an serious type of project. Please note that OpenType features are only available in programs that support them, such as Illustrator, Indesign, Quark or Photoshop.

Edith is a handmade serif typeface that can be used for long texts. Montauk Pro is named after a small village in Suffolk County, New York on the South Shore of Long Island. It is the easternmost area in Long Island, and thus the easternmost area in New York State. It is home to Montauk Point State Park, site of the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It is named after the Montauk Indians. Montauk Pro is a casual, jaunty and quite beautiful handwriting script.
