The font family Univers? is one of the greatest typographic achievements of the second half of the 20th century. The family has the advantage of having a variety of weights and styles, which, even when combined, give an impression of steadiness and homogeneity. In 1954 the French type foundry Deberny & Peignot wanted to add a linear sans serif type in several weights to the range of the Lumitype fonts. Adrian Frutiger, the foundry's art director, suggested refraining from adapting an existing alphabet. He wanted to instead make a new font that would, above all, be suitable for the typesetting of longer texts - quite an exciting challenge for a sans-serif font at that time. Starting with his old sketches from his student days at the School for the Applied Arts in Zurich, he created the Univers type family. In 1957, the family was released by Deberny & Piegnot, and afterwards, it was produced by Linotype. The Deberny & Peignot type library was acquired in 1972 by Haas, and the Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei (Haas Type Foundry) was folded into the D. Stempel AG/Linotype collection in 1985/1989. Adrian Frutiger continues to do design work with Linotype right up to the present day. In 1997, Frutiger and the design staff at Linotype completed a large joint project of completely re-designing and updating the Univers family. The result: Univers Next - available with 59 weights and 4 Linotype Univers Typewriter weights. With its sturdy, clean forms Univers can facilitate an expression of cool elegance and rational competence. Nyata™ — Clearly Visible, No Matter What. I love London for its finest visual branding, especially its Johnston typeface spreading all over the city. It inspired me to create this new font family: Nyata™. Nyata means clearly visible in Indonesian. The typeface is designed to be clean, unique, and legible. It is a great combination for any display requiring high legibility, such as city’s way finder. Long ascenders help some characters more obvious. You will never confuse wether it is an h or an n. Moreover, I tried to create all the letters are distinguishable. Of course, no time for people to doubt between Uppercase “I” and lowercase “l” when seeing a way finder. This font was made possible by creating a custom brush in Illustrator. I started with a flat brush dipped in India ink to create the stroke. From a scan of that stroke I made a vector tracing which I then I altered as necessary to get the desired dimensions. The lower case letters have a thinner stroke than the capitals.

Designed for ParaType in 2007 by Isabella Chaeva. The type is based on Bukvarnaya (TextBook) photocomposing version designed in 1987 by Emma Zakharova. Bellis is a hand painted brush font. Painted on absorbent paper with a chinese brush to make the ink spreading texture. The original texture was a little bit messy but we translated into a more clean textured font. Bellis is a very easy to read brush font and it can be used for posters, magazines or graphic artworks.

Architype Crouwel is a collection of typefaces created in collaboration with Wim Crouwel, following his agreement with The Foundry, to recreate his experimental alphabets as digital fonts. Crouwel's most recognized work was for the Van Abbe and Stedelijk museums (1954 –72) where he established his reputation for radical, grid-based design. Architype Vierkant was developed from the few letterforms that Crouwel created for an opening spread in a 1972 Drupa catalogue, on the theme ‘typo vision international’ – this single reference showed an interesting interplay of the experimental ideas underpinning his controversial ‘new alphabet’ and Fodor.

This font, is dedicated to all the Russian and non-Russian Babushkas around the world. This font was created using a flat brush and Chinese ink. After that I scanned all the letters and numbers and created the real font. Designed by Giuseppe Salerno, in the 2011.
