The typeface was designed for ParaType in 2002 by Dmitry Kirsanov. Based on the Mesolithic images on stones were discovered in a prehistoric cave of Mas d’Asil, France. There is a great number of hypotheses explaining the function of the mysterious stones. This is another grunge style hand drawn font I created with a poster marker. Including all Latin language extensions, Cyrillic and Japanese Hiragana and Katakana. It's an all caps font. I drew a couple versions of each letter then picked one of them for lower and one for uppercase so they can be combined for better flow and more even more natural look.

I first wanted to call this family Crowbone, after Olaf Tryggvason, the legendary Viking king from Norway. Somehow I changed my mind and went for Crowfeather, because this is not a Viking font and the name ‘felt’ better. The Srostky font is willful and stubborn. It is rude, but it is as natural as a country boy. The characters of this font were inspired by an image of the Russian countryside. The letters look as if they were felled with an ax. It is named after the village in Altai region. This font is suitable for short sayings and titles.

According to the dictionary, the way a letter is formed or shaped within a writing system is an allograph... and Allograph JNL from Jeff Levine takes on unusual shapes. Using characters from Jeff's Printing Set JNL font, they were printed out white-on-black, and the paper was torn into abstract pieces and then scanned in order to create this edgy looking font.

Here's a faithful rendering of a typeface originally named Octic, from the 1884 specimen book of the Palmer & Rey Type Foundry of San Francisco.
