Cassandra Plus is my revised version of Cassandra, it can now be used all over Europe except Greece and Russia. I changed the weights a bit to make them more distinct. The Font has two widths of letters, wide Capitals on the (shift) uppercase-keys and narrow ones on the (no shift) lowercase-keys. You can match them as you like, but you should avoid having the same letter in one word in two different widths. But if yoyu are really daring you can use one narrow S and a wide one, it might still look good. It will almost always look good! Cassandra is my “bow” to Adolphe Mouron Cassandre. I bought a new coffee machine - the piston variety. It is shiny, made in Italy and I can make a killer espresso or latte with it. I usually start off the day with a pour over coffee and save my milky coffee for later. I also have two grinders: one for a coarse grind (pour over) and one for a finer grind (espresso and latte). Yes, you will probably say that it’s quite extravagant to have two grinders, but I do like my coffee! Anyways, this is what I thought of when I worked on Coarse Grind. Coarse Grind is a well balanced all caps display font. It comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case letters.

Warning: works with contextual alternate-feature, which is not showing here. Covergirl is a script typeface that works all by itself. It has a very high contrast, but works also in smaller sizes. It is a display typeface. Covergirl is based on handwriting. The basic shapes are transformed to a very high contrast strict form and the hairline runs through the words in an amusing lively way that simulates the writing by hand. Its scandinavian designed handwriting, decorated, but also very minimalistic. While writing the letters will be substituted by one of the variations of the letter, that will make sure that the letters connect well. When writing in only UPPERCASE a much more simple letter shape will substitute the default.

Samo Sans is a modern sans-serif typeface with low contrast strokes and is balanced between technical shapes and dynamic feeling. The primary type family is consisted of complete set of Latin glyphs for lower and upper case. It also supports diacritics of all European languages including lining numerals, standard ligatures and other characters sufficient for regular typesetting. Characteristic features are lower spurs (a, b, d, u), and upper spurs (m, n, p, q, r) with distinctive wedge-shaped cuts. These parts are complemented by homogeneously designed diacritics, which is not disturbing and harmonizing with the whole unit. Another very strong feature of the type drawing are lower terminals of the round glyphs, which are finished by moderate narrowing. The type has got decreased caps height, also decreased numerals and optimal x-height, which makes it suitable for more extensive text typesetting. It can be effectively applied in corporate identities or in display typesetting. The narrowness of the basic set of Samo Sans typeface is supplemented by extended type family Samo Sans Pro .

The market for humanistic sans serif type families is saturated, so what can a new release add, and what does it take to stand out from the crowd? The birth of the monospaced types dates back to the past. There was a need for the creation of typesets for typewriters. The difficulty was to align the different glyphs in the same width. This led to particular problems with letters like “M” and “l”; the former seemed to be squeezed into the same width of all letters and the second one appeared way too streched. Despite – or perhaps because of – the impression of the typewriter is still popular with Graphic Designers. Nowadays there are even monospaced versions of primarily proportional types; for example the the Sans Mono designed by Lucas de Groot or the DIN Mono. Then again, why not the other way round?! In the first half of the Nineties, Erik Spiekermann developed a proportional type named ITC Officina based on the Letter Gothic. According to a survey on the 100 best fonts of all time conducted by FontShop, ITC Officina is in an eighth place, far ahead of its forerunner. This was the reason for me to create a wider design with a Serif and a Sans Serif based on the queen of all monospaced types – the Courier.

Misses Twiggs is a contemporary modern serif created by the American type designer Alex Kaczun. It compliments its partner Mister Twiggs and is a perfect marriage of two fonts. Mister Twiggs brings his tall good looks and Misses Twiggs bring her cute little serifs to the relationship. There are absolutely no curves in these elegant typefaces. Both fonts have sharp corners with extra tall capitals and narrow waistlines. Misses Twiggs also comes in 3 flavors: regular, thin and heavy.

With the clear, simple elegance of its sans serif forms and the warmly human touches of its tapering stems, the Optima family has proved popular around the world. In 2002, when it was finally possible to produce digital alphabets without technical limitations and compromises, and more than fifty years after the first sketches, an expansion and redesign of the Optima family was completed and released as Optima nova. Hermann Zapf and Japanese type designer, Akira Kobayashi, collaborated on the project, which included re-working of the existing weights and the addition of several new weights: small caps, old style figures, light, heavy, and condensed. The original Optima was never manufactured with a real italic, only an oblique version of the roman. Optima nova has a complete range of beautifully designed real italics; the new italic forms, of the e, f and g are especially notable. The titling face includes capital letters with special and unusual letter combinations and ligatures, making it an excellent choice for headlines, logos and advertising purposes. Optima continues to be an all-purpose typeface; and Optima nova works for just about anything from book text to signage. Why Baka Expert? There’s actually a simple answer. The original Baka was done as an experiment of sorts. I wanted to quickly capture a rough, frenetic handwriting style that broke normal conventions. Commercially, it was successful, received some accolades ... but I wasn’t completely satisfied, so I went back to the master art and the lettering explorations and produced Baka Too. This addressed some of the line items I wanted to refine in Baka. I liked it. Each font has been out for a few years now, and I have seen them in use. I’m very critical of my work, and I could still see things—modulations of strokes, angle of the nib, ink swell, and so on—that I wanted to change, refine, and reorder. For me, it is typographic indulgence, but I wanted to take this handwriting ‘font’ and turn it into a robust ‘typeface.’ So I did just that and a bit more by adding back more of my initial flourish concepts; attaining tighter, consistent control of the modulation; optimizing points; adding titling options; and expanding the character language set. Baka and Baka Too had to exist to produce this entirely new re-envisioning of an old friend ... and they all play well together :)

In the world of webfonts, Condensed proportions are key to maximizing your page's premium real estate while keeping your copy clean and catchy as you cut down to the essentials. Soon after the introduction of webfonts, I began to see Insigne's Le Havre used frequently for web headlines, not so much for its Art Deco look as for its more compact proportions. There seemed to be a need for a font that was designed to be used solely for the web's unique constraints. Enter Coegit Sans. Coegit is built specifically for web applications. Its highly Condensed forms range from thin--offering the greatest number of uses--to the attractive, accenting black. With three widths--Compressed, Compact, and the widest, Condensed --the family holds a total of sixteen fonts. The typefamily has also been hinted for excellent, onscreen display quality, even at small sizes. Overall, its lighter, humanist features provide the reader a more congenial welcome than its square, sans-serif counterparts can offer. Coegit is equipped for complex professional typography with stems, small caps and plenty of alts, including titling capitals. In all, Coegit supports over 40 languages that use the Latin script, making the new addition a great choice for multi-lingual publications and packaging. While the advanced OpenType features of webfonts are not currently supported in many browsers, the near future promises wide support. As acceptance of these features grow, Coegit Sans will prove to be a versatile element for your wide range of web projects.

Linem Up JNL is based on one of Alf R. Becker's alphabets for Signs of the Times magazine. With A-Z only and basic punctuation, it is best used in very limited text at larger point sizes. Say hello to another of my hot and trendy scripts, Hot Script! I got the inspiration for this one in the world of sign painters. My neighbourhood, and more specifically the avenue were I live, is very well known for its ''parrillas'': For those who don't know what this means, well, it may be better to live the experience rather than reading these lines. Villa Urquiza is full of restaurants with an argentinian flavour, with a ''gauchezco'' feel. Here you can taste some of the best ''asados'' in the entire world. Ok, this made me hungry, let's go back to type: These amazing venues still mantain genuine elements from the past, and try to preserve the beauty of the handcrafted. Parrillas of Buenos Aires have all their walls, windows and doors lettered with chalk or paint. I've always wanted to make a font out of that, and Hot Script is my first attempt. I believe the results are great! Hot Script follows some rules of the flat brush (see terminals, and tails especially in caps) but its contrast of thicks and thins was manually altered to make the font better for a wider range of uses. Although the sexy curves and versatility of Hot seemed to be enough, I decided to spice it a little more by creating some layers for it: Hot Script Shine Solo or Hot Script Shades Solo combined with Hot Script will give outstanding results. (Look for them combined in the posters above and dare to deny it!) Go make your project more savory! This font is Hot, hot, hot!

Phoenician/Canaanite The Phoenician alphabet developed from the Proto-Canaanite alphabet, during the 15th century BC. Before then the Phoenicians wrote with a cuneiform script. The earliest known inscriptions in the Phoenician alphabet come from Byblos and date back to 1000 BC. The Phoenician alphabet was perhaps the first alphabetic script to be widely-used - the Phoenicians traded around the Mediterraean and beyond, and set up cities and colonies in parts of southern Europe and North Africa - and the origins of most alphabetic writing systems can be traced back to the Phoenician alphabet, including Greek, Etruscan, Latin, Arabic and Hebrew, as well as the scripts of India and East Asia. Notable features Type of writing system: abjad / consonant alphabet with no vowel indication Writing direction: right to left in hortizontal lines. Sometimes boustrophedon. Script family: Proto-Sinaitic, Phoenician Number of letters: 22 - there was considerable variation in their forms in different regions and at different times. The names of the letters are acrophonic, and their names and shapes can be ultimately traced back to Egyptian Hieroglyphs. For example, the name of the first letter, 'aleph, means ox and developed from a picture of an ox's head. Some of the letter names were changed by the Phoenicians, including gimel, which meant camel in Phoenician, but was originally a picture of a throwing stick (giml).

Right now it is melon time: the supermarkets are full of them: Galia, Honey Dew, Piel de Sapo… Back in Casa Hanoded we're quite happy with the abundance of melons! So, when I created this cute little font, naming it was easy. Honey Dew is a shaky all caps font with different upper and lower case glyphs. I created alternate letters for both upper and lower case closed glyphs (like a, b, d, o, etc.) - including their accented brethren (aacute, abreve, acircumflex), etc. There is an alternate & and @, plus the Æ, Œ, Ø, æ, œ, ø, þ and Þ. You should have guessed by now that Honey Dew comes with a whole stack of diacritics.

Supra Extended – designed by Gert Wiescher in 2013 – is the extended version to this new sans typeface family of eight weights. The extended version is designed for sheer elegance and has no italics because they didn't look nice to me. The light and normal weights and the dominant x-height with its high ascenders make for easy reading of long copy. The heavy and x-light weights are great for elegant headlines. Supra is an OpenType family for professional typography with an extended character set of over 700 glyphs. It supports more than 40 Central- and Eastern-European as well as many Western languages. Ligatures, different figures, fractions, currency symbols and smallcaps can be found in all cuts.

Alterglam is one of my all time favorite fonts, although I didn't think so at first. The font appeared as a modification of my other default font. But over time, the font turned into an independent work. Moreover, the font began to live its own life and constantly demanded attention. So at the same time the Alterglam font is the most thoughtful and polished font in my collection. It is my pleasure to present this wonderful font set for exquisite designs. The result is a typeface that is perfectly suitable for modern graphic applications, such as publishing, branding and web, but which has some ornamental features that differentiate it from all the other grotesque families. Brillo doesn't want to be a neutral typeface. It's a font with a strong personality, which can give outstanding aesthetic and conceptual relevance to the graphic projects which will be used in. Brillo is a typeface thought for titling rather than for texts. For this reason it works better with character sizes bigger than 16 points.

Whimsical Musical is a vivid, hand drawn font with 405 alternate letters, all caps. Developed from a lighthearted drawing in my sketchbook saying the German word “MUSIK” cheerfully over and over in twenty vivid variations. Next to it was the date “6th April 2007”. This initial idea has burst into a font that is full of surprises and whimsical turns. It is dynamically suggestive, like music, and humorously chaotic, as in Dada. Each uppercase letter is enriched with ten stylistic alternates (OpenType stylistic sets) to create a heap of playful variations amounting to a mountain of possibilities. Recommended for display usage: gonzo headlines, fantastical picturesque covers, extravagant quirky flyers, chichi posters, individual labels and fun logos.

Pexico Micro is a pixel typeface that uses 5 by 7 grid (capital letter) in 8 styles: 4 basic styles for text setting — Regular, Bold, Narrow, and Mono and 4 stylistic variations of the Regular style for display setting — Outline, Dots, Round, and Inverse. Pontina is the name of a multilingual didone typeface. Its elegant character is built up of playful and lively strokes combined with high ascenders and high capital letters, that gives the classical forms a modern individual touch. It combines both: legibility and an ornamental curvy look for display purposes. The typeface provides true italic fonts for each weight, which fit harmoniously to the regular fonts. Pontina can be used for headlines and also works well in smaller text sizes. The text styles have slightly lower capitals and ascenders for better legibility.
