Mexborough owes its origins to a challenge from a client of ours- they wanted a clear and easily readable typeface to use for signage in public spaces, but with enough flair and style to be suitable for use in heritage precincts. Linotype Really, designed by Gary Munch, is a typeface family of six weights with italics and small capitals that offers a broad palette of expressions to draw from, sensibly light to brightly stentorian. Graphite was designed by David Siegel, who began thinking about the typeface in 1982, looking for an architect's handwriting with a chiselled pencil" look. Hexonu is a weird, awkward, monospaced font family. In place of true lower-case letters, it has a second set of capitals that, through the magic of the OpenType contextual alternatives (calt) feature, automatically alternates with the set on the upper-case keys. If one wants to use only one set of letters, the contextual alternatives must be turned off and character spacing adjusted. Hexonu is another effort to create a font with alternating sets of letters (see PoultySign, Lentzers, and Caltic for others). The base shape for forming the letters is a lopsided hexagon that resembles an old coffin. In four of the six family members, the alternating shape is a distorted hour-glass. In the other two, coffin shapes heads-up alternate with coffin shapes heads-down. The family was created as an experiment with the calt feature and not for any particular use. It does not work as text but its bizarreness makes it appropriate for some poster and signage applications.

Alternative styles for a handful of key characters provide some useful variations where stylistic sets can be implemented. The fonts are presented as four width-based sub-families: Expanded, Normal, Condensed and Compressed. Each width has a matching range of six weights and italics (obliques). Regular and Bold weights are style-linked, together with their respective oblique forms. Each width differs in its basic construction but all fonts share the same vertical metrics and may be used in combination with each other. Letter spacing is optimised for text sizes but is tolerant of significant tracking changes. Cadmium is good for signage, publicity and packaging, screen credits and titling, general print and publication, as well as web and screen applications.

Époque Seria is that kind of person who looks really cute when angry. This font was derived from the Époque family. She is the little sister to Époque - a little shorter with her smaller x-height and — how do you say it in the typographic circle — your eyes are also smaller (and you know you squint when things get serious, isn't it?). The genealogy of these font face is undeniable, but Époque Seria has a ‘personality’ very different from her older sister. The reduction of the x-height also shakes somewhat with the cap that had crossbar. To accompany the package of standardization, the letters that don't have their straight axes were changed, which brought to the set more Cs and Gs contemporaries. In addition, other measures were taken as a greater softness in the variation of the weights and the abandonment of the black weight, being considered too heavy for this version.

A connected typeface design with a calligraphic flavor. The Lahab (Arabic for flame) font family employs visual features from the Arabic Diwani Calligraphy. It has six members, normal, bold, and light, all of which come in two styles, regular and left-slanted italic styles. This font family design follows the guidelines of Mutamathil Taqlidi type style with one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined in the latest Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph, for the freely-connecting letters in traditional Arabic cursive text. Lahab employs variable x-height values. It includes only the Lam-Alif ligatures. Soft-vowel diacritic marks, harakat, are selectively positioned. Most of them appear by default on the same level, following a letter, to ensure that they would not interfere visually with letters. Tatweel is a zero-width glyph. Keying the tatweel key before Alif-Lam-Lam-Ha will display the Allah ligature. Lahab includes both Arabic and Arabic-Indic numerals, in addition to standard punctuations.

Cíclope is a typeface family designed by Carlos Fabián Camargo in 2012 and used to write the headlines. Its idea is based on an army of stone soldiers that with their size and strength cause earthquakes. Under this concept he obtained stencil and sans serif letters with monstrous shapes and torn counterforms. Its usefulness as well as readability consists in imitate rocks with scars and cracks. For that reason, Cíclope family has three sizes, each with their respective italics distributed at different levels of corrosion. In addition, each file contains 260 glyphs useful for designing words and phrases with systematically eroded treatments for advertisement material. Thus Cíclope works as a raw material in the exploration of new graphic design. Finally, Cíclope concept has grotesque, geometric and humanistics letters roots that seem disastrous but each and every detail has been planned with high definition drawing. Most importantly, it expresses a big amount of grunge style with cracked edges and medium contrast between thin and thick strokes. In that sense, the writing seems impaired and special for design of logos, posters, flyers, brochures and worn, crusty or demolished graphic design.

The German designers Gerd Sebastian Jakob and Jörg Ewald Meißner developed the Linotype Puritas family in 1999. The family, which has six text styles as well as a ornament set, displays a very geometric design, which harks back to the German modernist experiments with typography and lettering from the 1920s. The letters in Linotype Puritas Light, Linotype Puritas Medium, and Linotype Puritas Bold all have a slight slant to them. Not to be confused with an italic-grade slant, which may be found in the Light, Medium, and Bold Italic styles, these acute slants add a dynamic quality to text. The Linotype Puritas Ornaments font contains several dingbats and border elements, all drawn in the same line style as the companion letters. Cindie Mono is a multi-width display font. Six different widths – A (condensed) through F (super extended) – mathematically correspond with one-another creating a stackable type family. Each face contains all caps full West, Central and East European language support. All diacritics and marks are done in a hairline to add style and contrast. And Cindie Mono is ideal for posters, headlines and display lettering. The inspiration for Cindie Mono came from the lettering styles on optometrists sight-test posters.
