Amaro is the Italian word for bitter (amaro) herbal drinks like Ramazotti, Averna and a trillion lesser known ones. These liquors were the literal base for this elaborate set of four fonts. Each has different uppercase letters and some of the lowercase letters vary as well. Amaro-A, B, and C can be mixed freely. The Amaro-D has underlining swashes in two different lengths, the uppercase has the shorter underlines and the lowercase the longer ones. Chimphand is an organic, natural and contemporary handwritten typeface with their tall x-height. Weights of light, regular and bold for both normal width and condensed allow you to play with the typeface more. In addition, you will have an access to their style sets ( Gap ) to add stencil-ish character to every weights. This gap style is much more subtle than normal stencils, but unique and nicely fit to the typeface. Gaps are more visible on larger fonts and bolder weights. Frederic W. Goudy originally designed Pabst in 1902. This lettering was used by the Pabst Brewing Company for their promotional materials. It was later developed into type for ATF. Goudy later licensed Pabst Oldstyle to the Lanston Type Library. Lanston Pabst Oldstyle features several differences from the more familiar ATF version. Some caps are narrower while some lower case characters are wider than the ATF version. The descenders are also shorter in the Lanston version. Logotypes of italic words and, of, and the are included as originally designed as well as ligatures including the unusual tt ligature.

Linotype Russisch Brot is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. The inspiration of German designer Markus Remscheid is not hard to see for those who are familiar with the chocolate cookies in the form of letters which are called Russisches Brot. The font is available in six weights. The basic weight is perfectly legible and is good for both headlines and shorter texts and from there the weights become more and more nibbled away, leaving the basic form of the characters and a few crumbs.

Urbana is a contemporary, naturally condensed sans-serif typeface inspired by the traditional lettering found in Colombian city buses. A mixture of influences reminiscent of modernism, hand lettering, cluttered spaces and improvisation are the source of its unique forms. Urbana was designed to save space and catch the reader’s attention while keeping a high legibility in virtually all situations. Urbana is recommended for setting headlines and short paragraphs in newspapers and magazines or wherever graphic designers need to save space. Linotype Beluga is a part of the Take Type Library, winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. The font was designed by Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger to suggest the writing of the Middle Ages but without any specific models from that time. A distinguishing characteristic of the font is its pointed, effusive serifs, which give Beluga its feel of the Middle Ages or of mysticism. In spite of its dynamic character, Beluga is legible even in smaller point sizes, which makes it equally good for headlines as for shorter texts. Beluga combines well with sans serif, slab serif and constructed fonts.

Peanuts are a good source of healthful fats, protein and fiber - and besides that, I looove peanuts! Every once in a while, I have to name a font peanut-something. But I only do that with fonts that have that organic and handmade look and feeling ... and in this case, this font looked perfect to have the honour! :) Peanut Jam is super handmade and has 4 different versions of each lowercase letter and besides that, the font has multilingual support! The cover of the 1938 sheet music for "Treasure Island March" had its title hand lettered in a rough-hewn Western style with overtones of Art Deco influence. Bornholm Allinge is named after a village "Allinge" on the only rocky island in Denmark "Bornholm" It is the third face in a series of rough stone cut typefaces, that shares proportions, but differs in any other aspect like different pieces of rock. It is a powerful face, but still very friendly. Good for very big sizes, but can be used for small texts, movie titles, cartoons …

Brannboll Stencil is a script sport typeface. The baseball-style lettering was drawn by Mans Greback in 2020. It is a specialist stencil typeface, created primarily for laser cutters: All whitespaces are connected with the background, making it a lettering perfect for signs, jewellery, stencils and general cutting. It also comes with the additional, decorative style Brannboll Stencil Swash, which contains ten cool swashes to give the graphic extra expression. Legitima is a text font family inspired by the types found in the 3rd edition of the Italian book La Cicceide Legitima, printed in 1695. Its weight and x-height, optimized for 10 point-size, make it an ideal choice for book design and anything with running text. Like most typefaces from the 16th century, the strokes that constitute Legitima seem to depart from the traditional broad-nib pen model of handwriting and dare to explore the shapes produced by the techniques in use by punch-cutters of the time.

Trained Monkey is a happy serif cartoon font. Use it for your book cover designs, posters, product packaging (may I suggest peanut butter?) and whatever else you may fancy. This monkey was made by hand, so the glyph edges are a bit rough and uneven - giving it ‘ye olde handmade look’. The name? Well, I was watching a movie (can’t remember which one) in which two guys were having a discussion. One of them said to the other: ‘a trained monkey could have done this job!’ That’s all folks.

The Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum staff is honored to partner with New York-based graphic designer Louise Fili on her first font release project. The new font, “Mardell,” is named for Hamilton retiree and wood type cutter Mardell Doubek. This is the fourth font to be cut for the museum as part of the Wood Type Legacy Project. "The bold, lively angularity of Italian futurist letterforms made it a natural choice for wood type.” says Fili. This digital version presents Fili’s wood type design for use in web and print applications.
