  8. Refresh by Scholtz Fonts, $12.00
Refresh was inspired and partly based on handwritten text from advertisements for a popular cola-based soft drink from the 1950s. I designed the missing characters in the handwriting style of the original. The Refresh family comes in three styles: - Lite- possibly the most elegant of the three styles -- use at larger sizes for greater legibility; - Med -of intermediate weight - more legible than Lite; - Blak - for bolder statements and best readabilty. Refresh, with its three styles, is ideal for any display work needing a feminine, handwritten effect. Use it for product branding, book covers, invitations, greeting cards where you're looking for charm and movement. Refresh has not been designed to be used with capital letters placed next to one another: it is not advisable to use text in "ALL CAPS". The best effects for headings and subheads are obtained with an initial upper case letter followed by lower case characters. If you are using upper and lower case then it is not necessary to use kerning. Refresh contains over 250 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). It has all the accented characters used in the major European languages.
  9. Tulpe Fraktur NF by Nick's Fonts, $10.00
Tucked inside the November 5, 1927 issue of a German signpainters' trade paper was a single sheet headed Der Schilder und Schriftenmaler, which featured an alphabet called "Neue Fraktur". An exuberant (if somewhat unconventional) combination of Art Deco sensibilities and blackletter forms, the font retains its freshness, even today. Included in this version are Deco bishops fingers at the bar and broken bar positions, and a styling, horn-blowing herald at ASCII circumflex and tilde positions. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin and 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan) character sets.

  11. Arkhania by Adorae Types, $16.00
Light the fire and get your spells ready for Halloween with this witchy font, Arkhania. This display family offers three different styles from which you can pick the one that best describes the atmosphere and mood of your composition: Striped, fun and wicked, Regular, a more strong and classical look, and Hollow, old styled and classy. All three typefaces inspired by the Triple Moon Goddess and its phases: Maiden, Mother, & Crone. Arkhania family features: 423 glyphs 3 styles 84 icons, drawings, swashes and flags Standard ligatures Alternate characters Contextual alternates Swashes more... In addition, there is Arkhania Sigils, a style filled with swashes, icons, drawings and symbols. Play with them, combine a few, choose from different beginnings and endings and create your own swashes, underlines and frames. You can also find flags and boxes along with common connectors. Tips for a clean and modern look: Combine this typeface with a sans serif, light or thin font, like Aeonian (Aeonian Light was used for these images), and let Arkhania cast a spell on the viewer.
  12. Gainsborough by Fenotype, $30.00
Gainsborough - a clean-cut display pack. Gainsborough is a display combo pack of three styles and extra swooshes. Gainsborough fonts are straightforward with characteristic clarity. All the three fonts are designed to play together. Gainsborough is very easy to use. Gainsborough Pen is a clear script inspired by handwriting with pigment pen but polished clean to be legible and inviting. It’s equipped with Contextual Alternates and Standard Ligatures for smooth flow and connections between letters. In addition there’s Stylistic and Swash Alternates for standard characters. Gainsborough Sans is a sturdy street-sans ready for action. It’s has zero contrast and angular geometric shapes. It’s great for bold headlines. Gainsborough Serif follows pretty much the same proportions but with the serifs and a little bit of contrast and round shapes. Try combining Gainsborough Swooshes with Gainsborough Pen - type one character with Swooshes in the end of a word typed with Pen and you’ll have an ending swash reaching below the word. There’s different shapes and length swooshes + a couple of center balanced ornaments.
  13. Escalope by Antipixel, $15.00
Escalope is a hand-drawn font with a quirky and unique personality: low midline, unicase, all-caps, matching icons, textures, and the playful Stylistic Sets. 'Escalope Soft' has smooth outlines and sharp terminals. 'Escalope Crust One' is relatively clean but rugged, with an ink stamp outcome. 'Escalope Crust Two' is harsh in texture, with large coarse grains in its jagged outlines. 'Escalope Crust Three' is rather heavy-built, stout, defined, and less grainy. This type family has three alternating alphabets that slightly differ from one another. Thanks to the Contextual Alternates, the alphabets are automatically replaced, in turn, repeatedly to avoid the same letterforms and textures appearing next to each other. Stylistic Sets are also available. SS01 has underlined characters, SS02 has double-underlined characters, and SS03 has a mixture of graphic ornaments. These Sets can be used separately or combined. If the Contextual Alternates are running, the Stylistic Sets will alternate automatically. Escalope includes a set of 150 icons consistent with the four styles of the typeface. They share weight, texture, and font characteristics for a perfect match.
  14. Gravitational Pull by Hanoded, $15.00
My 9-year old son Sam asks a lot (a LOT!) of questions. Like: ‘what killed the dinosaurs?’ (probably an asteroid), ‘what is the distance to Pluto’ (about 7.5 billion km), ‘how big is space’ (93 billion lightyears - give or take). I am pretty sure he asked me about gravity as well. Gravitational Pull is a messy pencil script font. It comes with a whole bunch of double-letter ligatures and some really wonky glyphs. And no, in its virtual form, this font is not subject to the Earth’s gravitational pull.

  16. Cochin by Linotype, $29.99
Georges Peignot designed Cochin based on copper engravings of the 18th century and Charles Malin cut the typeface in 1912 for the Paris foundry Deberny & Peignot. The font is named after the French engraver Charles Nicolas Cochin (1715–1790) although its style had little to do with that of the copper artist’s. The font displays a curious mix of style elements and could be placed as a part of the typographical Neorenaissance movement. Cochin is especially large and wide and was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century.
  17. Bona Nova by Borutta Group, $-
☞ Bona Nova is a collective revival project of Bona typeface designed in 1971 by the author of polish banknotes Andrzej Heidrich. Besides giving the project a digital font form the aim was to expand the base character set: preparation of small caps, designing the alternative glyphs and multiple opentype features. Working together with the author we designed two new text versions: regular and bold – to give the family a form of a classic script triad. ☞ It is accompanied by three title versions and three contour styles under the name of Bona Sforza. All styles contains over 1200 glyphs. ☞ Bona Nova is an unprecedented typographic adventure for our team. We hope that our work will allow the cultural heritage of Bona and the work of Andrzeja Heidricha to gain new followers and fans. This project connected three generations of graphic designers who graduated the same school – the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. ☞ Bona Nova isn’t only a typeface. We have also prepared a book about the project (including an interview with Andrzej Heidrich, my text about the digitalisation and a font specimen). The Bona Nova release party was a big exhibition (over 1000 guests). I’ve invited 26 graphic designers to prepare their own initials of Bona Nova – they were presented as posters on exhibition too. 22. Last Bastion by Joe Hewitt Design, $10.99
Last Bastion is a strong, resolute serif typeface. The original inspiration came from the idea of an impenetrable medieval fortress that has stood the test of time and defended generations of hardened soldiers. Large stone towers and fortifications are reflected in the font's bold stems. The sans serif font offers a more modern and clean look, while the Gothic font shows the typeface's darker side. All three fonts include alternates for all letters and numbers in both caps and small caps. Last Bastion lends itself to branding, billboards, signage and industry to name a few.
