We have been in lockdown for a long time now. The schools were also closed, meaning my kids had to stay at home. This week the schools reopened (not a day too soon!), which means my kids can play with their friends again and learn something too! My wife and I pack their lunchboxes every day and always add some fruit for snack time. That fruity snack inspired me to create this rather messy font! Fruity Snack is a handmade display font. This font is one of the most used broken letter fonts today. Fette Fraktur is used to invoke a nostalgic or rustic feeling and found often on restaurants with hearty homemade food’ or breweries who use the good old recipes’ of the founder. The font was designed in the 19th century and from the beginning intended as an advertisement typeface. The lower case letters have a gothic character with only the ornamental flourishes making them broken letters, while the capital letters are more characteristic of broken letter typefaces. One could say Fette Fraktur is a true mix of styles, not unusual for typefaces created at the turn of the 19th century.

The Bitstream version of Linotype Janson. Nicholas Kis (Miklos Kis) was a Hungarian punchcutter who worked in Amsterdam. His types are some of the greatest in the Dutch old face style and have been used as models for a number of developments in this century. The Linotype version of this style, Janson, was created by Chauncey H.Griffith in 1937 and based on an original face cut by Kis in 1670–90. The face is named after Anton Janson, a Dutchman who worked in Leipzig, with whom the face has no connection. The typeface is used for text setting. Cyrillic version was developed at ParaType in 2001 by Vladimir Yefimov.

The techno sound of the 1990s, a personal computer, font creation software, and some inspiration all came together to inspire the F2F (Face2Face) font series. Alessio Leonardi and his friends had the demand to create new unusual typefaces, which would be used in the leading German techno magazine of the day, Frontpage. In September, 2003 I was contacted by MTV for the restyling of mtv.it I started from the beginning to work on a radical simplification of its visual elements, to achieve a better usability. It didn't take me so much to realize the basic design I attempted would have called for a notable reduction of the rich imagery distinguishing MTV's visual identity. As a visual aid to help me in this process I designed Virna, a headline "op-art" inspired face with the ability to create both vertical and horizontal ligatures between single words among two text lines, with the same ease of linking letters in handwriting or a linked script typeface.

This font was created with inspiration from the wood blocks carved for chapbooks, posters, calendars or newspaper in the late 1500’s and early 1600’s. We have tried to keep their innocence and rough style. It has been conceived as an homage to the “Pilgrim fathers” landing in Plymouth Bay in 1620 and celebrating the first Thanksgiving with Native Indians in autumn, 1621. The font, consisting of two English capital alphabets (so, without any accented characters): Initials and caps, and a lot of separate figures added, is especially improved by strong enlargments, 72 pts and more, and has very good results when printed.

Crillee is a family of our styles that was originally produced by Letraset. In 1980, Dick Jones designed Crillee Italic. Jones also designed the family's second style, Crillee Extra Bold Italic, in 1981. Peter O'Donnell designed Crillee Bold Italic in 1986. The fourth style, Crillee Italic Inline Shadow, was completed by Vince Whitlock. At the time of Crillee's development, Jones, O'Donnell, and Whitlock were all employees of the Letraset Type Studio. Crillee's slight lean to the right and geometric forms create a feeling of power and speed. Crillee should be spaced closely in word settings and is perfect for anything which should have a cool, modern appearance.

Hodgepodge is a confused mixture of letters that somehow work together. While I know this has been done before I create fonts that I need. And I occasionally have found a need for this. And it was not there, so now it is. There is a mixture of light and dark, bold and regular, caps and lower case but not where you would expect them to be. Since this is a headline font you can set the headline and then easily go back and change a letter here or there to get the best-looking combination. Hodgepodge was in the 2011 Typodarium Page-A-Day Calendar on 7-17-2011.

Museum is the Wundes foundry's first font revival. These letter forms are scanned from the engravings of Freeman Delamotte who in 1879 published a spectacular set of ancient and mediaeval ornamental alphabets. The original forms for this font were created in 1490, a few years before Columbus discovered America. There was not much information on the origin of this font, save that it came from a British museum, hence the name. The original character set was missing the letters J,P,V and W so I've constructed these letters in the same style to complete the alphabet. Other than those 4 additions, the engravings are true to their original forms.
