XRoomingHouse is a typeface of pictures that I did many years ago. Most of the pictures are border elements, and within a set they can be combined to make borders or frames. There is no real style consistency in the font—it is an eclectic collection of elements. (Minor corrections and additions were made in 2018 to improve sets that can form frames. For a more ambitious attempt at a font that can form frames, see Framealot). As for the name, boarders stay in a rooming house.

An old ad for Cointreau Triple Sec Liquor featured a bolder variant of the lettering style found in a set of vintage tin stencils that were the model for French Stencil JNL. This is now available as Belle Epoque Stencil JNL, in both regular and oblique versions. “Belle Epoque” means “beautiful era” in French.

This Arabic extension to Adrian Frutiger’s Avenir typeface family was created by Nadine Chahine for Monotype. Avenir Arabic proudly incorporates a timeless geometric style with humanistic nuances that made Avenir so famous. This family was inspired by the well-known Caslon typeface created by William Caslon, the English font designer, who was, with John Baskerville, the progenitor of English Transitional typeface classification in the mid-18th century (See also our 1776 Independence). We were inspired by a Caslon style set used by an unknown Flemish printer from Bruges, in the beginning of 1800s, a little before the revival of Caslon style in the 1840s. Our font covers all Western, Eastern and Central European languages (including Celtic diacritics) and the Turkish alphabet, with a complete small-caps set in each of the two styles. The mystery of why this font has been so popular was solved when one of our customers said, “I always use this thing, because the name starts with A, so it’s one of the first fonts I see in my slap-a-logo collection”. Lasting Impression JNL was rendered from scans of a 1930s rubber stamp printing set. At small sizes it has the look of hand-stamped lettering. At larger sizes, the user will see jagged and angular lines giving the font a kind of retro-grunge look. This typeface was the model for the more cleanly-drawn Casual Friday JNL, also by Jeff Levine. There is a limited character set, and both the spacing and kerning have been intentionally omitted so that the results will more closely resemble the uneven letter spacing of rubber stamps on paper.

Amaral is a family of 12 fonts with a contemporary design style, based on different historical models. The calligraphic influences are subtle, best noticed in italics. The result is a set of fonts that look more "constructed" than "written". Available in six weights of the Roman and Italic types, Amaral has a wide palette of glyphs. In addition to offering extensive support for Latin sets, among many OpenType resources, each font contains small caps and contextual ligatures, totaling more than 728 glyphs. Amaral is an option for editorial design projects and other related applications.

Lopsickles is a family in which the letters are based on lopsided, distorted ellipses. The family has four sets of letters that are combined in six different ways, yielding six fonts. Four of these fonts (styles AB, Ad, Bc, and cd) use the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives (calt) to alternate letter sets so that top-heavy characters alternate with bottom-heavy characters. The spacing in these fonts is designed for alternating characters and will result in overlap if the characters do not alternate. The other two styles (Ac and Bd) are spaced normally. Style Ac contains the two character sets that are top heavy and style Bd has the two character sets that are bottom heavy. The Ac and Bd fonts have italics and backslanted styles that may be useful to suggest speed. Each of these ten fonts has an inset style designed to be used in a layer above the base font. This layering can be used to give the effect of hollow letters or to add a colored interior. Lopsickles joins several other alternating-characters families in the IngrimayneType library including Snuggels, CloseTogether, and Caltic, but is visually very different from them. It is a strange, unusual family that will get noticed.

Uniwerek is a hand drawn font, inspired by college and university sportswear. The Uniwerek font family consists of six fonts: Uniwerek, UniwerekBold, UniwerekBlack, UniwerekLight, UniwerekHollow, UniwerekStencil. UniwerekBlack and UniwerekLight can be used together by layering UniwerekLight above a differently coloured UniwerekBlack. Jaggers is a handwritten typeface based on the letterforms Caslon. It may be hard to see the resemblance between these two since Jaggers is such a unique font. Its casual appearance is charming and easy to read. Jaggers has an expanded character set including European letters and symbols! This font is definitely one of Victory"s best.

This slab serif is a general purpose type in six weights. The lighter weights are useful for short passages of text. The heavier weights are a versatile tool for setting headlines. Available weights are Extra Light, Light, Regular, Semibold, Bold, Black. Silica was designed to withstand condensation using horizontal scaling without compromising the weighting scheme of the design.

Introducing vintage label font named Vida Bandida. It is based on my other font, Black Widow. All available characters you can see at the screenshots. This font has six styles: Regular, Full, Shadow, Shadow FX, Texture and Texture FX. This font will look good on any vintsge styled designs like a poster, T-shirt, label, logo, etc.

Four letters for this font came from a puzzle in a 1983 Games magazine. After seeing them, I could not resist the temptation to do a complete set of letters made from push pins or tacks, a truly tacky font. Most of the letters on the lower case keys are alternatives--choose the one works best for your purposes.

Vala™ dances across printed pages and shines on screen. This is a high-energy design that blends the grace of an English Roundhand script with the gravitas of an extra bold Bodoni. There is even a bit of romance in the design. Vala speaks with a resonant voice – and knows few bounds. The typeface enhances print headlines, subheads, cover art and packaging. The design also brings its distinctive melding of verve and poise to banners, headings, navigational links and branding in web sites, blog posts, games and apps. Oscar Guerrero found inspiration for Vala in shop window lettering near his home in Bogotá, Colombia. “The capital A, R and V caught my attention and I photographed the window for future reference,” he explains. “Later I started to draw more letters inspired by the ones in the window.” Guerrero admits that he has always admired the work of Giambattista Bodoni and allowed his classic Didone designs to infuse Vala. Striking contrast in stroke weights, lively ball-terminals and a large x-height give Vala the grace and force of a Waikiki wave. Not satisfied with just a basic character set, Guerrero also took advantage of OpenType’s capabilities and drew a complete set of swash capitals, a bevy of fancy ligatures, and a suite of lowercase alternative designs. The result is that Vala easily emulates custom lettering in posters, headlines and logotypes. The “romantic” part of Vala? Guerrero dedicated the design to his girlfriend, Valentina, and named it after her.

Sancoale Narrow is a carefully honed and meticulously crafted new family member for the Sancoale series. Sancoale Narrow has been specially designed to allow for even more versatility for the Sancoale Family. Sancoale Narrow continues with Sancoale's successful simple, geometric and legible structure. It is a contemporary design that is distinctive and unique. This new narrow addition can be used in conjunction with the original Sancoale, but it can also stand on its own. Narrow type comes in a handy in a myriad of situations, from poster design to book covers, web pages to editorial layouts. Sancoale Narrow's six weights make for a typeface family that is very useful for many applications, and also includes a set of true italics. Village was originally designed by Frederic Goudy in 1903 for Kuppenheimer & Company for advertising use, but it was decided it would be too expensive to cast. It was later adopted as the house face for Goudy's Village Press. The design was very much influenced by William Morris's 'Golden' type. Paul Hunt began working on a digital version of Frederic Goudy's Village type prior coming to P22 in 2006 for an internship (which evolved into a staff designer position at P22.) Around this time, The Tampa Book Arts Studio was looking for a digital version of Village to complement with a letterpress edition of a book called "The Rich Mouse" by JJ Lankes. Many years later the Rich Mouse project has been completed, so we decided to release the Village type on the same day as the release of the Rich Mouse Book!

The Mutamathil type family is the mid-size member of the Mutamathil type style. It has only one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter. With each glyph being semi-symmetrical around its vertical axis, this family is mainly suitable for right to left ordering. The Mutamathil family includes all required Lam-Alif ligatures and uses ligature substitutions, and marks positioning but it does not use any other glyph substitutions or forming. Text strings composed using types of this family are non-cursive with stand alone isolated glyphs. The Mutamathil Taqlidi family includes both Arabic and Arabic-Indic numerals, all required diacritic marks, in addition to all standard English keyboard punctuations and major currency symbols. The fonts in this family support the following scripts: Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Pashtu, Kurdish, Baluchi, Kashmiri, Kazakh, Sindhi, Uyghur, Turkic, and all extended Arabic scripts.
