Streetscript Redux is an update to the now discontinued Streetscript. In the original version, it seems a lot of users didn't like the s’s in the font, and after seeing them redrawn (not always with the best results!) a few times, I decided to make a new version of the font with less idiosyncratic s’s, and this is the result, Streetscript Redux. (I should have listened to my other half - “those s’s look like fives,” she said) All other features of the original Streetscript are intact (barring a couple of s-ligatures no longer necessary). There’s been a little tweaking of some outlines, and slight changes with spacing too, but for the most part, all I've done is redraw those pesky five-like s’s, so that you don't have to.

AltraTwo is a complete redraw of a family based on a tracing of a clip art font from an old printed book. The AltraTwo family adds italic, black, and black italic. I liked the gentle calligraphic look. Consider it a sans serif with style. This is a typical NuevoDeco OpenType pro font with caps, lowercase, small caps, lining, oldstyle, and small cap figures, numerators, denominators, fractions, swashes, and so on. There aren't many unusal ligatures for this one, though. It does have the Latin 2 character set or what Adobe calls CE, Central European characters. It took me a long time, but I think I now understand why people of my generation and older feel the need to frame current events in an historical context or precedents, while most of the young couldn't care less about what happened ten years ago, let alone centuries back. After living for a few decades, you get to a point when time seems to be moving quite fast, and it’s humbling to see that your entire existence so far can be summed up in a paragraph or two which may or may not be useful to whoever ends up reading the stuff anyhow. I suppose one way to cope with the serenity of aging is trying to convince yourself that your life and work are really an extension of millenia of a species striving to accept, adapt to, and improve the human condition through advancing the many facets of civilization -- basically making things more understandable and comfortable for ourselves and each other while we go about doing whatever it is we are trying to do. And when you do finally convince yourself of that, history becomes a source of much solace and even a little premonition, so you end up spending more time there. Going far back into the history of what I do, one can easily see that for the most part it was ruled by the quill. Western civilization’s writing was done with quill pens for more than thirteen centuries and with newer instruments for about two. By the mid-18th century, the height of the quill experience, various calligraphy techniques could be discerned and writing styles were arranged in distinct categories. There are many old books that showcase the history of it all. I recommend looking at some whenever the urge comes calling and you have to get away from backlit worlds. Multiple sources usually help me get a better perspective on the range of a specific script genre, so many books served as reference to this quill font of mine. Late 17th century French and Spanish professional calligraphy guides were great aides in understanding the ornamental scope of what the scribes were doing back then. The French books, with their showings of the Ronde, Bâtarde and Coulée alphabets, were the ones I referenced the most. So I decided to name the font Auberge, a French word for hotel or inn, because I really felt like a guest in different French locales (and times) when I going through all that stuff. Because it is multi-sourced, Auberge does not strictly fit in a distinct quill pen category. Instead, it shows strong hints of both Bâtarde and Coulée alphabets. And like most of my fonts, it is an exercise in going overboard with alternates, swashes, and ornamental devices. Having worked with it for a while, I find it most suitable for display calligraphic setting in general, but it works especially well for things like wine labels and event invitations. It also shines in the original quill pen application purpose, which of course was stationery. Also, as it just occurred to me, if you find yourself in a situation where you have to describe your entire life in 50 words or less, you may as well make it look good and swashy, so Auberge would probably be a good fit there as well. This is one quill script that no large bird had to die for. A few technical notes The Auberge Script Pro version includes 1800 glyphs, everything is included there. Also latin language support. We recommend you to use the latest design application to have full access to alternates, swashes, small caps, ornaments, etc. The images from the gallery uses this version. For better results use the fonts with “liga” feature on. Pegasus scrapes the DNA of a great twentieth century painter who scattered text across his work like no other… not any kind of facsimile, but tough, playful, adaptable display type forged from the bones of a unique writing hand. Three weights - Skinny, Domestic and Peso - each offer five alternates for each letter, three for each numeral and multiple versions of many punctuation and other symbols. Letters are uppercase only with the lowercase providing one of the alternate forms of each letter… with OpenType Contextual Alternates switched on, you get automatic variation between the two… and you can manually throw in wilder variations from the remaining alternates. Some repeated punctuation - periods, question marks, etc. - are automatically varied too. OpenType Stylistic Set 1 switches to a rowdier selection from the alternates… Set 2 flips all the E’s to distinctive ‘skeleton’ alternates… Set 3 introduces automatic variation into numerals. Save some $$$ by purchasing the Whole Livery Line - all three weights at a nice discount... or, if you're really hurting, Cheapskate offers just two alternates for each letter and a single set of numerals.

The composition of Parabrite is found to be based on a set of technical behaviors defined from a set of four sub-glyphs and their interactions, similar to the make up of our D.N.A. (A,C,G,T). Likewise, Parabrite's block matrix is composed of four units (S,L,I,C). These units are only allowed to group together according to predefined set of mathematical rules, and affect each other symbiotically. The smallcase letters stand five feathers high, while the capitals add an extra two feathers width. Parabrite is extended, containing the full West European diacritics & a full set of ligatures, making it suitable for multilingual environments & publications. Use Parabrite when you dream of a future world. Since Parabrite is adapted to be quickly read by a wide assortment of electronic scanners, legibility to humans suffers a little, although robots report it is much easier on the eyes. Smashed Typeface is a reversed-contrast, slab serif, display font. Was inspired by the old west days that we can often see in printing, circus posters and wanted notices in western movies, even tho the style was really used in many parts of the world during that period. This style is sometimes called as "circus letter" too. Was designed to have a modern look, using straighter lines and an extended style, can be used on various situations like posters, logos for restaurants, alternative business like an old washing station (as you can see on the next images), music bands etc. I believe that is a promising typography that can be used by various designers in a lot of diverse project. It counts with 226 multi language characters, one weight on version 1.0, on a next version I hope to take this project to another level, creating a variable typeface from condensed to really extended weights. It would complete this typography and eliminate the limits of use.

Aramus is a new serif font in my continuing objective of designing book fonts that I can really use. In many ways, Aramus is a very different direction for me. It comes from a scan of an old display face that has been radically modified to a much smaller x-height than I have been using lately, plus taller ascenders. Many of the characters needed a lot of correction to bring them into my taste. In general, I have decided that many of my fonts create a type color that is too dense. Aramus is an attempt to get away from that look. Although Amitale has been a very successful book family and excellent to work with, I find I still need something more open with a lighter color. Aramus is the first look at the new direction. The original hand-cut serifs vary a lot, different for almost every character. This gives a little looseness and helps the lightness I am looking for. It will be interesting to see where this all goes. This is a normal serif for me in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. This font has all the OpenType features in the set for 2009. I didn't bother with the CE accents (though I can add them upon request. They will be in the final new book family). There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft tt ty Wh Th and more. Like all of my fonts, there are: caps, lowercase, small caps, proportional lining figures, proportional oldstyle figures, & small cap figures, plus numerators, denominators, superiors, inferiors, and a complete set of ordinals 1st through infinity. Sharp End fonts support Latin Based Languages only (see Tech Specs). Sharp End's creation is inspired by Gothic sharpness shape but only applied to the ends of normal letters. Make the font look beautiful and elegant, look as semi-serif, as calligraphic touch or others. The base of the Capital Characters is set a little bit lower than the small cases/lowercases. On small/normal size typing, the difference is less visible (obscure), but will be more visible/more clear as the typing set larger. Thus, Sharp End fonts will work well for both text and display.
