When did it start. One day I was designing some stuff for a fast food café. By style the Café was made as an old Soviet canteen. So I had to do a special accent on this in menu, advertising posters and other print products. I decided to do this by interesting old school font. There are many cool retro fonts on the Internet, but not one of them satisfied me on 100%. The next step was to look at the old posters and find some inspiration. So I found some cool pictures with exact letters that I needed, but there were no typefaces to buy so that I can print some text with this exact letters. That's why I decided to do such typeface for my own. You can use this typeface in the field of nutrition, and it also will suit for cinema posters.

From the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, by way of Toronto, comes Martie's handwriting. Martie Byrd is a school teacher in Roanoke, Virginia, and a friend of Canada Type's Rebecca Alaccari. After years of admiring the cheer and clarity of Martie's handwriting, we asked her to write out full alphabets for some cool font treatment. The intent was to do three different versions of her writing in two different pens, then use the auto-magic of OpenType to determine letter sequences and rotate character sets on the fly when the fonts are in use. A successful endeavor it was. Take a look at the images in the MyFonts gallery to see the character rotation in action, along with a visual explanation of why Martie is not just another handwriting font. Unlike other available felt tip and ballpoint handwriting fonts, the regular and bold variations are style-based, not weight-based. They are the handwritten expressions of two different Sharpie pens: The fine point one (Martie Bold), and the ultrafine one (Martie Regular). The style-based variation considerably helps the realism needed in design pieces that take advantage of the contrast of two different handwriting fonts. Weight thickening in handwriting is an obvious mechanical effect that only happens with computers. Weight changing by replacing pens is what happens in the real world. Chico was by designed by Javier Mariscal and Josema Urós specifically for the final roll of credits in the animated film Chico y Rita. The goal was to design a typeface with a good readability but that conveyed a strong script character and, in some way, tuned to the style of line used throughout the film. Using a modular sans-serif as a template, Javier Mariscal reinterpreted the forms freely, while maintaining gridlike proportions. Circolino is calligraphic script typeface set that is inspired by the letterforms taught in Italian schools. Each letter combination is designed to tie in perfectly within the word. In this regard, many contextual alternatives and letter variants have been designed, especially to make a more calligraphic feel. The Circolino character set consists of two families: Circolino Classic and Circolino Sport. The Classic Family has an almost vertical tilt axis, while Sport Family has a much more pronounced tilt axis that gives it more dynamism and movement.

The extremely narrow Robotik was created by the British typeface designer David Quai and appeared with ITC in 1989. The figures are robust and strong and form tightly packed, bar-like lines. The characters' slim, narrow and angular forms suggest mechanical exactness and cool distance. The similarity of the forms are also reminiscent of machinery and the letters form chains of words. The form principle shows parallels with the constructivism of Moscow after the First World War. Robotik is best used for headlines in large point sizes.

Rukou originated as a logo for a fashion designer. The idea was to make a fusion of a geometric typeface with the flavour of childish features. Rukou was inspired by school hand-writing models, but adds very specific and interesting features to it. Rather than focusing on readability, the primary goal was to have a unique type texture. This is the reason why lowercase is disconnected. The disconnected letters opened the possibility to create the special shapes for individual letters. The typefaces consist of two different styles inside one font. You can choose to set your titles in uppercase, or lowercase/titlecase.
