Günther Zainer, (or Zeyner or Zeiner), was the first printer to operate in the city of Augsburg. He was active from 1468 to his death in 1478. In that single decade he was responsible for printing 80 works. Most of these editions were for the clergy but he also printed the first Calendar and large-scale illustrated book intended for the wider public. This font is based on one of his more interesting and peculiar fonts. And it has been enlarged to include over a 1,000 defined glyphs for modern use and also for historical purposes many glyphs recommended by the Medieval Unicode Font Initiative organization have also been included.

Mollis Gothic is inspired by medieval gothic calligraphy. The gothic calligraphy is classical and traditional, I want to add something modern to it. So the letters are simplified as lines and without the handwriting feel, just like a sans font. Meanwhile, the gothic calligraphy visual look remained. It expands the usage area because of the modern feel of this font, such as the package, titles, logo, poster design, etc. In September 2021, we created the thin weight. Ruha Harline is a modern and mechanical serif typeface and is the result of stencil's RUHA development. Being the first typeface of the family, it sets the basic concepts for further development, on each version to come. The design approach, results from a rigid geometrical connection with the Roman du Roi, since the letterforms are imposed by the constraints of the RUHA ruler. The main typographic proportions are connected with the modern typefaces, like Didot or Bodoni. Maintaining the same structure with different typographical and stylistic properties, the stencil allows to explore a modern typeface, with vertical stress, high contrast between the thick and thin strokes and hairline serifs.

Sign and Display JNL is a long-overdue companion font to 2009’s Sign and Poster JNL. The original design models were Art Deco influenced die-cut cardboard letters and numbers manufactured by the Duro Decal Company of Chicago. Square in shape with rounded corners, the thick cardboard letters were used for making show-cards and other display signage. Subsequently, Duro used the same style of lettering to manufacture water-applied decals for boat identification and other uses. It was a set of these decals (with a black outline and yellow interior) that inspired the outline typeface Sign and Display JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

First of all, I don’t have an uncle called Edward, nor do I know anyone by that name. When I had finished this font, it had a strong ‘Uncle Edward’ feeling to it, so the name stuck. Uncle Edward is a handmade script font. I used a Japanese brush pen and some rough paper to create that ‘vintage’ look. Use Uncle Edward for your book covers, your invitations or your product packaging. Create labels for your vintage record collection with it, or print a guest list for your Christmas dinner party. Uncle Edward gives you his blessing. Comes with ligatures for double letters and a whole bunch of accents.

SK Femme Fatale is a decorative typeface inspired by strong women and their contributions to culture and design. Adams is a revival and major expansion of Dolf Overbeek's Studio typeface and Flambard, its bold counterpart, originally published by the Amsterdam Type Foundry in 1946 and 1954. This digital version adds small caps and a new light weight. Adams is a simple upright, flat brush script, with stroke angles carefully designed to give the same color in all sizes. It is reminiscent of the sign lettering commonly found in the 1930s and 1940s. At times, one source of inspiration can generate more than one idea. This was the case with the 1918 sheet music for the song "You're Still an Old Sweetheart of Mine". The cover displays the title in a hand lettered narrow Art Nouveau Sans serif style. A number of characters were revised and the overall font was compressed by 25% to create a whole new look and feel. The end result became Slim Nouveau JNL. This was the same material used to originally model Easy Money JNL, which is truer to the original lettering design. The font is available in both regular and oblique versions.

DBXL Nightfever was originally designed by Donald Beekman in 2001 for the disco-techno-house record label of the same name, an imprint of United Recordings. Geometric and gridded, with a solid sci-fi techno feel, Nightfever still contains a lot of soul. Three additional wider weights were added for more design flexibility, as well as italics for all widths. After the record label was terminated the Nightfever fonts were used for many other DBXL design projects. Linotype Sinah is part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. Designed by the German artist Peter Huschka, Linotype Sinah is a rounded, ornamental font with many strokes ending in teardrop forms. The letters of this wide-running font do not share a common base line. The capital S and the lower case l both drop under it although neither have descenders. Overall, Linotype Sinah has an almost Asian or Indian feel. The font must be used with generous line spacing and is intended exclusively for headlines or shorter texts in point sizes of 12 or larger.

Legestue is danish and means playroom. But perhaps that translation is too direct. Legestue is a place where you can come with your kids and play with other kids. Kinda like a kindergarten, but in much smaller scale. I attended a Legestue when my kids were like 2 years old. But that's a looong time ago! I like the idea of just dropping by and see who's playing and who's around. And the same goes for this font - each letter is off and different, and quite playful. Also, the letters has a crunchy outline, which made me think of some of the cookies I ate at the Legestue :)

A "tunesmith" is one so nicknamed because the person or persons craft (compose) a song from scratch. When the area of Broadway known as Tin Pan Alley was in its heyday, every music publisher's office would have sounds emanating from the various cubicles of men and women trying for the next big hit. Sheet music was the main source of songwriter's royalties during those days, and to please the general public with a song destined to be a popular piece was a lofty goal. It's then only fitting that the lettering inspired by a 1920s-era piece of sheet music for a song called "Jerry" would be named Tunesmith JNL.

Linotype Go Tekk is a part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. The font was designed by the German artist Critzler and is available in three weights, thin, medium and black. Go Tekk is a cool, constructed with unusual cross strokes, appearing in almost every character at exactly the same height. The capital letters do not end on the baseline, rather drop even farther down than the descenders of the lower case letters, making it necessary to allow for generous line spacing. London is one of my favourite cities, so it was about time I named a font after it. Well, technically, I named a font after one of London’s districts. Southwark comes from the Anglo-Saxon word Suthriganaweorc, which means ‘Fort of the men of Surrey’. The font Southwork is a handmade Clarendon. I used a Japanese brush pen to create the outlines. I gave the glyphs texture by filling them in with a brush and Chinese ink. Southwark, therefore, has an uneven look and a brushy texture. It looks good on just about anything, but posters, greeting cards and product packaging come to mind.

Sauna Mono Pro is a monospaced typeface with an unusual amount of personality. Monospaced fonts are supposed to be bland, universal, clean and smooth, right? Trigot is a modular typeface. Every form and every character is constructed from the basic geometric form of the triangle. The hand lettered credits from the 1931 melodrama “Safe in Hell” inspired the typeface Pre Code Movies JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The design is strongly influenced by the popular Art Deco style of thick-and-thin characters and also features rounded corners. The font’s name comes from the early era of talking pictures and the short period before the establishment of the Hays Office in 1934 when Hollywood did not self-censor itself.
