FF Cocon’s designer, Evert Bloemsma (1958—2005) described it as a “serious typeface”. Despite first impressions, the description holds up well. And at small sizes, it remains surprisingly readable. Bloemsma wanted none of it. Although a difficult starting point for a typeface, this proved successful. ITC Motter Corpus was designed by the Austrian type designer Othmar Motter in 1993 to combine the display advantages of a sans serif extra bold design with the legibility of a roman weight. When used in very large point sizes the tiny serifs become noticeable.
