The first Tuscan lettering was penned in the mid-fourth century by the calligrapher Furius Dionysius Filocalus. The style was still in common usage as calligraphy when Vincent Figgins designed the first Antique Tuscan for print in 1817. Antique and Gothic Tuscan woodtype fonts appeared in the 1830’s. By the 1850’s, Tuscan fonts had become popular in America. These styles continued in print use into the twentieth century. Tuscan Antique and Gothic styles, borrowed from print and calligraphy, were perfect for signs, posters, handbills and other large format advertising. Sign painter, Frank Atkinson demonstrated several Tuscan forms in his book Sign Painting, A Complete Manual. Modified & Spurred Tuscan Romans were inspired by this and other works of the same period.

In the early 19th century, as the Industrial Revolution began to transform Britain, the slab serif was born. Latex was initially a single multi-script all-cap font commissioned in 2012 by a company we can't name, to market a billion-dollar superhero movie we also can't name. A year later the commission grew to include a shaded variant and a set of DIY-like fonts, with different layering possibilities for dimensional manipulation. Introducing the first typeface by Azure studio, Space 101! Space 101 is a handcrafted chalkboard reminiscent typeface with irregular slender lines and a quirky personality. This typeface is perfect to add character and charm to bodies of text and heading where the slight imperfections tie your whole design together. The inspiration for Space 101 was found in an old signwriting book. The character shapes were updated and improved while still retaining the same charm. The typeface gave me interstellar space travel vibes reminiscent of early books based around space travel, which is why I decided to call it Space 101. Zoelander is an experimental geometric font. The distinctive feature of this font is having an irregular x-height. This will look unusual, but if you are looking for something unique and looks different, Zoelander can be an alternative to making an attractive typography. Zoelander comes in two versions, Zoelander Regular and Zoelander TF. Each has a bold and rounded style.
