False Idol is based on bad rub-down lettering from 1970s pornographic magazines and home-made religious leaflets. The letterforms were intended to mimic a feeling of cheap glamour but just became seedy. Somehow an alluring beauty emerges from this mix of sleaze and chic...

Perfume Counter JNL was based on the hand lettered song title found on the 1938 sheet music for "At A Perfume Counter (On the Rue de la Paix)" from Billy Rose's New York revue "Casa Mañana", and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Restricting you, bounding you to the rules of a bureaucratic organisation. My advise, carry a scissor with you all the time to cut through it. WBP Red Tape is a great monospace font specifically designed for headings and logo design.

Johabu is based on Gebrochene Fraktur, a lighter softer sort of type, compared to the German forms of the same period. Johabu was drawn by Johannes Bureus, around 1620, cut and cast by Peter van Selow in Stockholm. Johannes Bureus, archaeologist and linguist, designed and let Selow cast runes in 1598, and he became the first Swedish keeper, archivist, of the National Record Office State Archives.

Inkster breaks all the rules. The serifs vary from letter to letter, if they have any serifs at all. The upper and lower case letters intermingle and the contrasting characters bounce all over the baseline. Loosely based on the character shapes of Frisco, I developed a tightly spaced calligraphic version and called it Inkster. Use this artistic font when youre looking for a distinctive style!

Equa is a font based on strict grid rules. The name "Equa" comes from the equal widths of the vertical strokes, inner spaces and counters and spaces between glyphs. Its geometric construction gives it a technical look with an art deco sensibility. A system of three "weight-widths" based various sized grids gives flexibility in uses, from large condensed headlines to small blocks of text.

Domosed typeface was build during lockdown. As a result of home sitting it appears in two weights. It refers to Italian futurism when all generation understand global changes of industrial revolution. The forth industrial revolution appears with new rules but the main idea is the same – simplifying the processes. A bold sans serif with occasional rule-breaking vertical serifs on some characters was found within page examples from the book "100 Alphabets Publicitaires" ("100 Advertising Alphabets"). Although a few of those vertical serifs extended above the cap height in the hand lettering, they were made more uniform to keep a consistency in the digital version known as Peppermill JNL. Available in both regular and oblique versions.

Price Didone is a font with a singular purpose: The setting of elegant, stylish price tags. As such it is non-alphabetic, featuring instead numerals, a large array of currency symbols, and a smattering of typographic niceties such as quotes, brackets, pilcrow, daggers and a very curvaceous ampersand. Certain currency symbols that are not independent glyphs (Q, Ft, kr etc.) are included as their constituent letters, some of which also have automatic ligatures for that little something extra. There are currency symbols included which have not (yet) been accepted to unicode, such as the Russian Ruble and Bitcoin symbols. Isento and Isento Slab ranges from Thin to ExtraBold with perfectly matching italics. Immediately seemed very clear that a slab serif companion would follow the sans, therefore Isento Slab is the perfect companion to Isento, with very strong rectangular serifs, ideal to set short passages of text or to become the key actor in a big headline.

Sheet music for the song “The Little Thing You Used to Do” (from the 1935 motion picture “Go into your Dance” starring Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler) had its title set in what closely resembled Bank Gothic Condensed. [Bank Gothic was originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton for American Type Founders circa 1930.] This reinterpreted version is now known as Stenographer JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Linotype Escript is a part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger designed this handwriting font with fresh, lively forms. Each letter has a slightly different character, yet all fit well together and this lack of concrete rules gives the font a spontaneous feel. Escript is well-suited to headlines, smaller texts, and initials when combined with constructed typefaces.

Before typography had 'rules', lettering artists set down designs that have endured as classics. A perfect example is Brenham JNL, which was modeled after an antique wood type. The extra elongation of some characters, the irregular shapes of others and the overall hand-made charm of the entire design makes this digital font the perfect choice for replicating broadsides, posters and anything needing a nostalgic look as if from the past.

An image spotted in an online auction online of a 1940 Milton Bradley child's activity set consisting of wooden letters formed the basis for School Activities JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Although the basic characters feature chamfered corners, the nature of bending the steel rule dies to form the letters to be cut from the wood provided rounded edges as well, creating their unique look.

Inspired by the splatters that come from a heavily inked architectural ruling pen gliding along the surface of a highly textured watercolor page—Splash. Just as droplets of water splash the ocean’s shore, little control can be predicted and no two splashes are exactly alike. The result is wonderfully organic and natural surprises. This display font touts flowing design potential. All glyphs are PUA encoded for ease of use.

Finura was inspired by American lettering from the 60s, specially the Stunt Roman for ruling pen and compass presented in the Speedball Textbook for Pen & Brush Lettering by Ross F. George, but also by looking carefully to University Roman characteristics. Finura is an experience on very thin poster typefaces and the possibilities to design extreme delicate typefaces, with plenty details, that sheer simplicity and readability to the classic forms.

At one time, the Hampton Publishing Company of New York specialized in producing reading and activity books for children. The “Letters and Numbers Stencil Book” (probably from the late 1940s or early 1950s) was the basis for Kiddie Stencil JNL. This bold sans serif type style replicates the handmade steel rule dies used for cutting the stencil pages of the book, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The vikings searched in vain for hundreds of years over much of the northern hemisphere, but their dreams of writing with felt-tip pens went unfulfilled--until now! This is a novelty font containing the 24 runes of the Futhark, but with a modern bent. In addition to regular, bold, oblique, and bold oblique, we have included two outline styles. Treves Sans is a scratchy, messy, hand written display font. It has the look of charcoal or a brass rubbing, reversed in lighter tones it looks like chalk. It reminds me of Edward Gorey's or Eddie Campbell's styles of sketching. It has about 200 glyphs including all those extra pesky foreign features.

Simppeli is a simple-lined but rough font. As written text it gives an impression of drawn lines on cross-ruled paper. You can fill the entire text area: the space key gives an "empty" grid. You may have to change the settings of some text applications in order to eliminate the marginals and/ or the line spacing. Combining glyphs provides you with endless assortment of patterns for ornamental decoration, prints etc.

No mystery here: this typeface is based on Edward Johnston’s 1916 design for the London Underground and, more specifically, as it was employed in posters boosting The Tube. To implement “lowercase” numbers, refer to the PDF character map, or activate Stylistic Set 1 in OpenType-aware applications. Both versions include the complete Unicode Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, as well as localization for Lithuanian, Moldovan and Romanian.

The 1934 Dick Powell-Ruby Keeler-Joan Blondell movie musical "Dames" gave us the classic song "I Only Have Eyes for You", but the sheet music for the song had the movie title hand lettered in a multi-line Art Deco sans serif design that just begged to be turned into a type font. From these few letters now comes Deco Multiline JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Miss Demeanor has a tendency to create her own rules due to her free-spirited nature. She conforms to every day typographic expectations but she wouldn’t like you to think so. My inspiration for Miss Demeanor came from a specimen sheet of an american type style from the early 1930’s.

HiFi is a geometric script whose genesis lies in drive-in movie theaters, vintage auto emblems and radio dials. It embraces the stylistic tenets of retro futurism and proposes that the evolution of design styles, rather than being linear, is a circular process, continually revisiting and reshaping itself. It evokes the 40s & 50s and pre-transistor electronics when you turned your radio on and waited patiently for the tubes to warm up.
