A circa-1925 poster for the chanteuse Arlette Montal, signed simply "Bouchard," provided the inspiration for this roly-poly romp through the alphabet. It takes its name from a popular East Texas summertime porch dance...or not. Shelf Numbers JNL recreates the small plastic pricing tags that were used on grocery, drug, variety and liquor stores shelves for many years. The number keys have alternates in the shift position with a cent sign alongside the numbers. Also included are various phrases such as "for", "each", "lb." in the A-L/a-l keystrokes, and there is an additional set of numbers in the M-V/m-v keystrokes with a decimal point to the right of each numeral for dollar amounts.

Vintage sheet music for the song "Just Once for All Time" (from the United Artists release "Congress Dances") provided the bold sans that served as the model for Dance Number JNL. This 1932 film was the English language version of the German comedy "Der Kongrefl tanzt" The movie's plot is based around the Congress of Vienna. There, an Austrian commoner is mistakenly thought to be the Tsar of Russia.

In the MGM musical "Broadway Melody of 1940", a new stage production has its gala opening at the fictitious Lafayette Theater on the Great White Way. The front of the theater is resplendent with classic neon signage, and the theater's name is in an interesting Art Deco design. Musical Number JNL recreates this lettering in digital form.

Here is a faithful revival of Gothic Number Ten, released by the Cincinnati Type Foundry in the late 1800s. Not your garden-variety sans-serif, its quirky caps will warm up your headlines. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

Similar to date and numbering stamps, there once was manufactured rotary band stamps with different letter and number configurations that were used for various identification purposes. From a set of vintage bands acquired from a now-closed rubber stamp shop, Marking Device JNL replicates the serif typeface used on these devices.

Deconstructed JNL is another set of rubber stamp alphabet letters and numbers from a 1930s toy printing set. The original typeface of this set is Cheltenham Open. The stamps were printed out and scanned, creating this limited-character font with dual characteristics. At small point sizes it replicates inked rubber stamp impressions, but in larger format it shows angular lines and erratic character shapes as if made from cut paper or lettering that was intentionally made to look damaged.

Inkpad Letters JNL joins a number of fonts that were reproduced by Jeff Levine from inked impressions of various rubber stamp printing sets.

Amateur Printer JNL is comprised of letters and numbers from one of the rubber stamp sign printing sets that were popular with children up until about the 1960s. The letters were printed out on paper, then scanned and converted into a font... leaving all of the rough edges and defects intact to give the look of authentic rubber stamp impressions.

FT Stamper is made with ink and rubber stamp. It has an oriental calligraphic vibe.
