Kevlar was initially inspired by an obscure logo discovered in a 1960s radio-fan magazine. Huffer is a chunky and irregular sans-serif font (with a few serifs) that simulates the look of letters crudely cut out of paper. The basic letters were originally inspired by an early 1970s instructional filmstrip dealing with the dangers of glue sniffing. Further inspiration came from other sources of 1960s display lettering. The lower case is almost as tall as the upper case allowing for a mix and match between cases to achieve a more lively display effect. This is a series that takes unfinished typefaces that were either previously ideated but not realized or were close to completion but left incomplete due to dissatisfaction with certain aspects, and brings them to completion. "Oorrnnoott" was originally a project named "Petitgothiquemignon" or "Sangoth". In the process of refining "Kropotokin", several ideas were incorporated into the design. Well, I say "incorporated," but it was designed on a whim, as usual. After all, it was started around 2005, and I don't usually leave notes or anything (which isn't the best habit), so I don't remember the emotions or thoughts behind its creation. Please consider this typeface as a very typical sans-serif font, as that is what I was aiming for when I excavated it this time. Primot is an upright script heavily influenced by italian gelaterias . After releasing 3 sans serifs , we were looking for an opportunity to design a display type with less constraints for legibility and expression. We started playing with brush lettering and looking into vintage scripts from different eras. Some cool things that made it into Primot were some unusual vertical connections and the sweet brush flairs in the letter endings. From that point on, we set out to create a beautiful looking vertical script – something we don’t see that often – in which each word set could would make a nice piece of graphic design (think logos, video game titles, shop windows etc.). We also made it smart by including hand-lettering inspired features such as initial and final forms for letters, contextual alternates and swashes. The result is a versatile 900+ glyphs display typeface, suitable for a wide range of applications. We hope you have as much fun with it as we had designing it!
