A blackletter font tending towards the gothic which was released by Klingspor, Offenbach am Main, in 1937. Claudius can be used for clerical as well as for secular purposes and shows a strong character of its own. The original esthetic atrocities of placing the dieresis within the letters A and O - due to former German industry standards - were abolished. Allow the font's beauty spread by giving it enough leading between the lines. This font contains various useful ligatures, and by activating the Ordinals feature and typing 'N', 'o' and period you get an oldstyle numbersign.

A calligraphic alphabet in bold/light brushstrokes Actually, a typeface like this one should be written with a wide brush; this one was written with a thick, pointed brush. Thus were created the round or misshapen ends of the stems, and the sometimes excessively pointed ends of the hairlines. For each character of KLEX, the large brush was dipped in the ink anew. Using this method, the forms turned out very soft, in spite of their geometrical rigidity. The individual characters are heavy, simple, and monumental, so that they are also suitable as initials.

Kate Greenaway was a very famous British (1846-1901) author and illustrator of childrens books. Her books were an outstanding success in English publishing during the Victorian period. Recently I found these sweet Mignonettes in an old foundry specimen book. Mignonettes is derived from the French word "mignon" which stands for lovely, charming, sweet, delightful, pleasant and that does exactly describe these little drawings. MVB Hotsy Totsy is Akemi Aoki’s first typeface design. Aoki created the letters in cut paper. Once digitized, the design was expanded to offer several weights and styles. Exaggerating the triangular serifs and tapering strokes of “Latin” typefaces, MVB Hotsy Totsy is the perfect party face, appearing frequently on board games, product packaging, and in children’s books. It is named for (what was at the time) a dive bar in Albany, California. The bar has since been renovated but its neon sign was preserved, a local landmark of San Francisco’s East Bay.

I have had the name "Fruitcake Fanatics" in my mind for quite some time now...but I needed a font that suited the name...then one day...actually last Wednesday, I was playing around with some letters (which eventually would turn out to be this font!) and suddenly it struck me: I got the letters for my Fruitcake Fanatics font! Another story could be - what does the name mean?! Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know - but what I do know is that the font is playful and unpredictable and loads of fun!

Karben 105 is inspired by the classic, no nonsense DIN, and has a form that follows its highly legible function. Based on a lozenge, it has a clean and pure geometry with even stroke weights. Karben 105 is available in a family of five weights, and is also available with character variations as Karben 205. There are also monospaced variants of both Karben 105 and Karben 205 and a stencil version. All of the Karben fonts feature an extended character set, including accented characters for Central European languages.

In the early years of the twentieth century a number of romans with a soft and slightly script like quality were evolved. Although they did not represent the future in terms of the major design influences that were to appear after the First World War, they were a break with the past, and were developed further in the nineteen twenties and thirties. Monotype Bernard Condensed is closely associated with this period, a condensed roman evoking an easy charm. The Monotype Bernard Condensed font offers many display applications where warmth and friendliness is required.

Kisik is a handwritten font. I got a request to put my handwriting into a font, so I decided to take the challenge and design a whole typeface with three different weights (light, regular, bold) and 638 glyphs to cover all 104 Latin languages. Accolades C and C2 share the same main ornaments but differ in finishing. Accolades C uses pearls and diamonds, C2 does not. Accolades CX is an additional fitting set of borders. All fonts are available in two variations. A clean one and a distressed, grungy version (old). The layout samples from the PDF-specimen are included in the font packages and stored in InDesign CS3 format. Mostly all of the featured fonts of the specimen are available on MyFonts, too. Architype Konstrukt is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals have helped to shape the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Due to their experimental nature character sets may be limited. Architype Schwitters was developed from the phonetic experiments made by Kurt Schwitters with his 1927 universal alphabet, where he attempted to link sound and shape. He ‘played with’ using heavier, wider, rounded forms to convey the vowels, creating a unique visual speech texture.

Pritchard is the work of British designer Martin Wait, a capital, condensed sans serif font inspired by the geometric styles of the 1920s Soviet Constructivist movement. Despite unusual letterforms, Pritchard remains legible and effective in large display sizes. Two fonts make up the Pritchard family: Pritchard Regular and Pritchard Line Out. Pritchard Regular is a caps-only font, but Pritchard Line -- a bold, open font suitable for a wide variety of headline applications -- does include lowercase letters. A similar font from Linotype is Linotype Reducta. Unlike Pritchard Regular, Linotype Reducta's character set contains lowercase letters."

French Kiss is an expressive brush font that was drawn by hand on paper to ensure that it captured an intimate and personal quality. The texture of the brush has been left in, and can be seen when displayed at large sizes. French Kiss contains 28 alternates and ligatures for enhanced diversity and legibility. Unfortunately, the MyFonts display engine does not show the contextual alternates. Additionally, the entire font has been meticulously kerned, letter by letter to ensure a smooth flow, in spite of the expressiveness of the letters.

Soul Skull ist a special Version of my Font „Soul“ (soul ultra black). For a long Time i want to make a Font like this. Before FL6 that was impossible. I know it is a big File Size for a Font with all the Graphics but i need a Font like this for a Halloween Projekt. And so i did it myself. I hope you like it as i do! This is my version of the classic DIN 1451 Mittelschrift, complete with a large multilingual character set. I have made it primarily because I want to have a bit of fun with it by experimenting with giving it some very different expressions - far removed from its serious and no-nonsense roots. A year after the tremendous success of Memoriam in the "Lives They Lived" issue of the New York Times magazine at the end of 2008, Patrick Griffin and Nancy Harris Rouemy teamed up once more to tackle the same project for the 2009 issue. This time the magazine's design concept revolved around a typeface they created specifically for custom vertical malleability, and that can play just as well in single- or multi-color environments. The result was another iconic commemorative issue that shows exotic tri-line letters merging, swashing, extending and flourishing in stunning gold, silver and blue on black on the cover, and in black on white on the inside pages. Just like in the previous year, the issue won multiple publication design and typography awards. Crescendo is that typeface, finally issued for retail by public demand. Just turn your setting into outlines in your favorite vector program, grab single strands and extend away, and do your best alternating colours between strands. Crescendo comes with a limited punctuation set, but accented characters for Western Latin languages are included, and there many, many alternates and ligatures in there as well. This typeface is best used in large display sizes.

Stray might be the lonesome cowboy in this big odd world, but it's his just public façade. Stray is handsome player that works well with any team or in any environment. He doesn't have a horse, but he can be the one, he can carry any weight. OK, let's talk serious now: Stray is distinctive geometric sans serif family in 9 weights and matching Italics. By it's design, Stray flirts with humanistic typefaces in some elements, while on the other side, we can see vintage letter forms as well. It is well balanced typeface, fully legible in any (reasonable) size, with power to present versatile tasks and situations. Specific joining of letter stem and bowl is one of design characteristics of Stray, so it is not just another geometric sans family, it really differs in it's own details. Contains extended Latin character map support and Cyrillic (no localizations, sorry). As any serious working horse family, it is equipped with decent OpenType features like Small Caps (for basic Latin only), Fractions, Tabular Figures, Denominator, Numerator, Ordinals and Ligatures. It also comes with small interesting set of dingbats. This Stray is not homeless, he just looks for the proper job :-)

Mark Stanczyk designed Linotype Typo American in 1999. The font is an excellent revival of American style typewriter type. As most of us can remember from our childhood years, or through old stories and movies, everyone used to type with typewriters before the invention of computers. Unlike computers, most individual typewriters only had one typestyle, or font, to chose from. To make matters worse, the letters in a typewriter font would wear down with use. Over time, text typed out on a typewriter would look more and more corroded, old, and uneven. Stanczyk has captured exactly these features in this “revival” font! Also like most older typewriter styles, Linotype Typo American’s letters are all mono-spaced, i.e., the letter i is the same width as the letter w. Typewriter letters also all tended to be cast in the same size, around 12 points or so. When using typewriter-style fonts, it is best to keep setting your text in similar sizes. (Of course, you can set really large and fun headlines with Linotype Typo American, too; if anything the unevenness of the design will come even more across in these applications.)

Blanchard is a revival and elaborate extension of Muriel, a 1950 metal face made by Joan Trochut-Blanchard for the Fonderie Typographique Française, that was published simultaneously by the Spanish Gans foundry under the name Juventud. Blanchard is a script that embodies the post-war narrow decorative aesthetic that would become the instantly recognizable feature of that era’s design. Its high ascenders corners make it the tuxedo of fonts, with slight and casual angles gradually revealing a trustworthy confidante, and sharp corners signaling a most expressive ally. Font. James Font. This digital version updates the original metal shapes to work within today’s design tools and designer needs. Some of the questionable metal shapes were optimized, plenty of alternates were added, and as many as five ending forms were built for most lowercase letters. Overall, this is one of the most useful packages for book cover, magazine and packaging design. Blanchard is available in all popular formats. Blanchard Pro combines all five fonts into a single one that makes use of OpenType’s cross-platform compatibility and programs that support OT’s fine typography features, like recent versions of Adobe InDesign and QuarkXpress.

“Designers can’t help but be inspired by the things that surround them,” says Massif’s designer Steve Matteson. An avid mountain climber, Matteson found his inspiration for his text face family in the dramatic granite formations of North America’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most of Matteson’s type designs are custom projects designed with an end use or customer in mind. Massif, which had no customer or specific purpose, was probably his most personal typeface to date. “My goal was to embody, in Massif’s two-dimensional letterforms, the angular tension and smooth curvature characteristic of the rugged terrain of Yosemite National Park’s Half Dome, which was formed by eons of glacial and tectonic activity,” Matteson explains. The typeface’s striking design echoes the faults and fissures that define a massif formation, resulting in a rich texture when used for body text and revealing distinctive shapes and proportions at display sizes. The Massif family comes in six weights, from Light to ExtraBold, each with an italic companion. The OpenType Pro suite contains small caps, ligatures and old style figures, and offers a small set of decorative ornaments. Pro fonts also include an extended character set supporting most Central European and many Eastern European languages.

Bienville is an elegant script font with some unusual features. It includes end-of-sentence flourishes which attach to most lower case characters, a flourish for attaching to the descenders of selected characters, and some stand-alone flourishes as well. The end result is quite decorative.

Many years ago, we bought a bunch of proofs that had apparently come from the defunct Van Loey-Nouri foundry in Belgium. Cognac was an incomplete alphabet among them, which we completed. Just a guess, but 1910 seems like a probable date for this art nouveau design.

Bonlivet is an all capitals display face, which starts from Roman letter forms and pushes them into wild decorative extravagance. There is a somewhat early 20th century feel to this, but really it’s just a bit of good fun, with a hint of elegance thrown in.

Figuratika with its cut out letters is a bold geometric Art Deco inspired stencil font with a retro 1920 1930 feeling. It was designed as a display font and is best for shorter texts, titles, logos, posters etc. Figuratika has multilingual support for most European languages.
