Simpliciter Sans is a typeface based on the lettering used in the 20th century on technical drawings, either written by free hand or using templates. The lettering was made with a round pen, therefore all lines got rounded ends. All lines had the same thickness in uppercase, lowercase and small caps. The upright style was used on construction drawings and the italic style on machine drawings. The backslant style was used on maps for names of water bodies — seas, lakes, rivers etc. — and for water depth. Simpliciter Sans is primarily intended for texts on drawings, diagrams, charts and maps, but it can also be used for signs and labels. It also works surprisingly well as a body type in smaller sizes.

In spite of its name, this font family embodies the ultimate classic modern advertising typeface, rather than concern itself with revivalism or Didone authenticity. Naturally the spirit of the original Didot faces still exists in this family, but over twelve years of work on it have made it more fitting to the luxurious expression of our day and age, rather than nineteenth century Europe. This was a favorite of the old time job printers;­ decorative but readable. The MacKellar foundry was the largest and most creative of the old foundries, and decorative fonts like this one came out at the rate of several every year.

Shirah 25 started as a freehand study, while experimenting with ink and new nibs. Later on, when David decided to have a digital version, he drew it merely with the tablet, trying to keep the spirit of the ink and the nib. Shirah 25 is an OpenType/TTF Unicode font.

Wild Thing was created by British designer Martin Wait and appeared in the ITC library in 1995. The forms look as though they are normal alphabet figures viewed through swirling water, wavy and irregular. Wild Thing is a font which is always moving and is perfect for fresh new designs.

Charles Beeler Jr. designed this in 1895 for Mackellar, Smiths and Jordan, which was part of the American Type Founders combine. The font had a short life because five years later ATF began an "off with the old, on with the new" program, and this font was an early victim.

The Fredrick Ullmer Co. in London acted as agent for many typefoundries, and this was one of their offerings. Some of the letters were rather outlandish, so we fearlessly decided to improve them. The result is this dated but pleasant font. The original didn't have a lowercase, so we added it.

What would happen if one took a rather crude, squared-serifed typeface of the type popular in the 19th century and added medieval and calligraphic ornamentation? Maybe the result would be Medieval Gunslinger. The MedievalGunslingerShadOverlay font is spaced so that it can be layered with MedievalGunslingerShadow to produce bicolored lettering.

ITC Veljovic Script was designed by Jovica Veljovic and displays an obvious calligraphic heritage. The designer was strongly influenced by German designer Hermann Zapf and Israeli designer Henri Friedlander. ITC Veljovic Script exhibits a crisp precision, as if the letters were cut in stone rather than drawn with pen and ink.

It's font created for posters, ads, websites. I created it when I designed a poster, then later realized that I very often need such a letters so decided to complete all of the characters. Art Week JNL is a wider variant of the lettering style used on many WPA (Works Progress Administration) posters for the arts in the Depression-era 1930s. Wider than the version used for Concert Series JNL, it also features an ‘A’ with a rounded top rather than the flat, square version.

FF Signa is a typically Danish typeface, rooted in architectural lettering rather than book typography. Originally designed for signage—hence the name—FF Signa is now a typographic family with three widths. All weights include italics, small caps, and several styles of figures. Because of the quality of this “vernacular-lettering-into-typeface” conversion, FF Signa received a Danish Design Prize in 2002. FF Signa is radically different from most sans serif text typefaces that were published during the 1990s. It neither belongs in the “humanist sans” category, nor is it on the list of typefaces based on 19th-century grotesques. Its concise letterforms and a minimum of detail produce clear and harmonious word images. Yet its proportions are classical, and the underlying geometry has been subtly adjusted in order to create letterforms which are at once interesting, harmonious, and contemporary. These features make FF Signa pleasant for reading, even at very small sizes. The typeface has developed into a versatile family, with Condensed, Extended, and Correspondence versions. Later on Signa Serif, Stencil variants and a Signa Slab family added even more versatility. The resulting FF Signa type system may be used for corporate identities, brochures, magazines, communication, books, and on-screen publications.

Ahmed is a modern Arabic headline face, first produced by Linotype-Hell Ltd. in the early 1980s. Originally developed as a simplified face, its design recalls the inscriptional and decorative tile work lettering of the medieval period. The strong treatment of the tails of certain characters departs from the more traditional style of tapering these finials, introducing a modern feel to the design. The contrasting proportions of the tall vertical strokes and the rather elongated counters lend a monumental look to Ahmed, allowing its effective use in titling. During the later 1980s Ahmed was developed into a traditional typeface, with the introduction of medial forms to improve character spacing and balance. Recently, Ahmed has been converted into the OpenType font format, ensuring its continued popularity as a heading face for newspaper typesetting. The Ahmed typeface contains two weights, Ahmed and Ahmed Outline. Both of the OpenType fonts include Latin glyphs from Clearface Gothic Roman inside the font files, allowing a single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages. The two Ahmed fonts include the Basic Latin character set and the Arabic character set, which supports Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. They include tabular and proportional Arabic, Persian, and Urdu numerals, as well as a set of tabular European (Latin) numerals.

Soft Rock is a bold condensed sans serif with rounded contours that contrives to be gentle and dynamic at the same time: rather like the soft rock bands (Chicago, Air Supply, Fleetwood Mac etc) after which it is named. The CourtGesture family fonts are zany, absurd, whimsical typefaces that were inspired by nineteenth century faces that have one style on the top and another on the bottom. They are rather crudely drawn. The CourtGestureInside style was designed to be layered over letters of CourtGesture to fill in the tops with color.

In Issue Number 84 of Push Pin Graphic, Seymour Chwast offered up this rather odd variant of his own extrablack, superbold in-your-(type)face, Blimp. Not recommended for body copy, but makes interesting and unusual headlines. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Harbour is a clash of Latin and Germanic typestyles - two conflicting letterforms, culturally, politically and aesthetically. Latin letterforms have a geometric base, blackletter types are calligraphic. Harbour takes calligraphic forms that derive from writing with quills, but is a typeface that is clearly drawn‚ rather than written‚ to produce graphic, dynamic letterforms.

A modern humanist sans serif typeface. The proportions of each character have a strong lateral dynamic that makes it ideal for on screen uses. Superstar Grotesk is a free interpretation of the first Cyrillic versions of Royal Grotesk and Akzidenz Grotesk, later the "Roublennaya" typeface is the same irremovable pop artist who lingered in the top of the typographic charts until the digital era, and formed the image of the Cyrillic alphabet in the 20th century.

Paint Store JNL is the third in Jeff Levine's series of display fonts modeled from actual water-applied decals that were manufactured by the Duro Decal Company of Chicago (now Duro Art Industries). Duro Decals were sold in paint, hardware, variety and art supply stores, and even [in some cases] print shops.

Templit JNL is one of a number of fonts modeled from actual lettering stencils by Jeff Levine. This one takes its style from a set of individual letters and numbers used for marking and identifying objects. Some of the letters and numbers have solid shapes rather than traditional stencil breaks in the characters.

Hans My Hedgehog is an old fairytale which was made famous by the Grimm Brothers, when they published it in the early 19th century. Hedgehog Hans font is a fat, rounded and rather cute typeface, which is ideal for children's books and posters. It is highly legible, and comes with extensive language support.

This engaging headline face is based on a rather pudgy typeface named "Bullion Shadow", which was originally released somewhere on the cusp between the hippie and disco eras, and was equally at home in both. Chunky Nouveau JNL was inspired by a circa-1928 water applied decal for the Top Most Insulated Jug. The plump, rounded hand lettering of the brand name was given a slightly thicker treatment to create a more poster-oriented display design.
