Picturesque Stencil JNL gets its name and design from the title of a circa-1920s children’s stencil activity book entitled “Dean’s Picturesque Stencil Book No. 10 - Series 75”; published by the F. Weber Company of Philadelphia and printed in England by Dean. The book’s stenciled title was hand lettered in a bold Roman design in the Art Nouveau style. Picturesque Stencil JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A September 29, 1920 edition of The San Diego Union ran the headline “Cicotte Confesses Baseball Fraud; Eight White Sox Players Indicted”. The White Sox baseball scandal was the first to reveal illegal gambling on the game. However, the headline itself was set in a bold slab serif type style [likely ATF Foster] which served as the model for Good Reporting JNL; which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Buddy Slender is the narrower version of the companion sans for Contenu, the book font family designed for a book on book family design called Practical Font Design. It's a loose, free, easy to read sans, so when my wife suggested Buddy, it clicked. This is the 2-font Buddy Slender family of Regular & Bold. I made a new more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage.

This font is an adaptation of the typeface I designed for TJX Europe, which was used in their branding campaigns for the TK MAXX stores all over Europe. At one time, the Hampton Publishing Company of New York specialized in producing reading and activity books for children. The “Letters and Numbers Stencil Book” (probably from the late 1940s or early 1950s) was the basis for Kiddie Stencil JNL. This bold sans serif type style replicates the handmade steel rule dies used for cutting the stencil pages of the book, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Et Cetera is a beautiful, hand-lettered script. It abounds in OpenType features such as terminal swashes and ligatures and is best used with OpenType savvy software with the “standard ligatures” and “contextual alternates” features turned ON. Et Cetera is comprehensive and vigorous. Most letters in the font are connected, but, as in typical handwriting fonts, not all are connected. Most characters have a consistent shape within the font, but not all. Some characters in Et Cetera are sensitive to their position in the text and change depending on the adjoining characters. This contributes to the casual and relaxed style of Et Cetera; not allowing the features of the font to get between the reader and the message. A wealth of OpenType features lie beneath the mellow exterior of Et Cetera. Imperio is a font inspired by old posters, especially those related to constructivism and futurism. It reflects both the rationalism of Bauhaus as a propagandist and revolutionary spirit of an era. On the other hand it is not nostalgic, but instead looks for its own way to get diagonals where there was rigidity. The poster itself is the language of graphic design, and geometry is its ally. This font aims for that goal. It has two variants that derive from its source. Imperio Giga Black attempts to be a negative typography, starting with the black and then searching for small windows in which they begin to uncover the morph. This is an extreme and modern font. Imperio West is a metamorphosis of the original one, with decorative details which transform it into a typeface of wood and saloon font. In all cases we recommend its use in large sizes (up to 20pt) and main titles. Imperio UltraBlack can work in smaller sizes than Imperio Regular.

A playful, casual take on round nib pen lettering was spotted amongst some online scans from an old lettering book. The free-form and stylized shapes of the letters and numbers are reminiscent of old-time show cards, movie titles and signage in vogue around the early 1900s through the 1920s. Fancy Show Card JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Collage BB font was created for visual imitating of cuted paper Serif letters. The idea was to imitate kid’s clumsiness and irregular shape of letters. Good readability allows using this font for making some long texts. The font contains all the Latin and Cyrillic glyphs.
