Gilman Sans is the family member of Gilman, the serif that it was derived from. The idea for Gilman started simple enough, a serif typeface that works well for large amounts of text. However, after many struggles creating a quality typeface digitally, I decided to first draw the complete alphabet by hand on paper, and then trace that digitally. The result is a unique workhorse typeface with a subtle “human touch” that is very rare in this modern technological age. Gilman Sans has extensive language support and comes with many opentype features like true small caps, tabular lining figures, stylistic alternates, ligatures and more. At first glance, Handbills and Posters JNL bears a strong resemblance to Classroom JNL. True, they both share the visual qualities that are based on Franklin Bold Condensed, but this is where the similarity ends. Handbills and Posters JNL is a refined re-draw of the classic design, based largely on vintage typographic examples. There are also some character variances. Stitch Warrior is a a gothic style stitch font. It's made of cross stitches ("x") even the kerning - the distance between the letter pairs varies between 1, 2 or 3 stitches distance. I was trying to be as accurate and close to reality as possible. It can be pefectly used for stitch lettering or text pattern to create visual effects.

ITC Hedera's roots can be traced to a suite of initials intended for book design. Olivera Stojadinovic, the face's designer, made the first sketches for the initials with a handmade tool consisting of two flexible metal strips tied to a wooden handle. This makeshift pen created the distinctive uneven double strokes of the letterforms. Stojadinovic says that she tried to keep the original flavor of the sketches in the finished font. Stroke roughness has been preserved in final execution, though the characters had some cleaning and polishing," she notes. Bigticy is a typeface with a "new-retro" feeling. Its square outline is tempered by rounded angles. This makes it suitable for a large range of applications in the domains of magazine headlines and posters. The Narrow version has been drawn from a title found in an example (dated from the 50's) of the French newspaper "Le Dauphiné Libéré". For the Maxi style, I have tried to reduce to their minimum the inner white spaces. I had in mind those amazing stone walls that one can see in the antique Inca cities in Peru. The stones are so tightly joined that it is impossible to slip a sheet of paper between them. The Plain version is an interpolation of the two other ones. It is a very useful style since I keeps the main quality of each parent: the weight of the Maxi and the narrowness of the Narrow.

New York vibes FS Irwin was born in New York while Senior Designer, Fernando Mello, was studying an intensive 5 week typeface design course at the Cooper Union. His brief was to design a perfectly clear typeface that could communicate well, without loud or overtly mannered design features. Fernando was influenced by the subway font in New York: ‘It is very in your face and clear, always in bold. It doesn’t shout much but at the same time is very present and unique. The design is completely different but it was this spirit I wanted to capture for FS Irwin.’ And the vibe of the city: ‘In a similar way to London, New York is so mixed and so cosmopolitan. I was amazed by the different styles and identities I saw there, and tried to encapsulate this essence to create something new, relevant and very now.’ Incisive quality Rather than focusing on quirks or distinctive characteristics, the key to FS Irwin is the quality of its design and spirit of simplicity. The design, proportions and details are usable and authentic and it is suitable for countless situations, without running the risk of being instantaneously noticeable. I always like to make a heart swash font and this is my 7th. Winterfalls is a high quality, smooth, simple script font which is easy to read and ideal for anything romantic and loving. Use it on cards and notes for baby announcements, wedding stationery, birthday and thank you cards but most of all, anything for your Valentine. Winterfalls includes left and right end swashes and connecting swashes on the lowercase letters, and a set of alternate uppercase letters with heart swashes. There are a few alternate lowercase letters, such as the ‘i’ and the ‘j’ dotted with a cute little heart and many, many ligatures. As usual, this font also comes with a good set of international characters, which will come in handy when you want you entice your valentine with a little french, haha. This delicious font family takes its name from the tastiest of Piemonte’s specialities. It has been designed in collaboration with Turin-based calligrapher and artisan Andrea Tardivo. Piemonte soil provides the most delectable hazelnuts, which are the key to creating a mouth-watering chocolate spread called Gianduja. We sought to infuse the sweetness and tradition of Turin’s confectionary into a new font family, reinterpreting Italian models from the first quarter of the last century. All fonts were crafted by hand on paper first and then digitised in a way that retains the handmade quality and aesthetic. This family blends the Turinese touch from the old chocolatiers and the beautifully printed foils they use to wrap each exquisite creation. The extensive display family contains; Gianduja Sans a geometric font based on examples found in Italian art deco era artworks. Gianduja Script has been handwritten with a speedball pen following the standards of “Bella Scrittura” and Gianduja Capitals is a decorative font inspired by the “liberty” lettering signs from Piemonte.
