Tomato is the digitization and quite elaborate expansion of an early 1970s Franklin Photolettering film type called Viola Flare. This typeface is an obvious child of funk, the audio-visual revolution that swept America and put an end to the art nouveau period we now associate with the hippy era. Funk is of course little more than jazz with a chorus and an emphatic beat. Nevertheless, it became the definition of cool in the 1970s, thanks to blaxploitation movies with excellent soundtracks like Shaft and Superfly. Funk began as a commercial audio experience, then later expanded its signature to cover everything, from design to fashion to the later birth of disco, which is really a further simplification of funk. Funk had very strong and unique typographical elements, particularly a kind of titling with an essentially western, wooden core that suddenly changed and flared in unexpected areas until a very individual brand was achieved. Everything that can be tacked on to the alphabet was used towards that individuality. Things like curls, swirls, swashes, ligatures were always plentiful in funk, sometimes giving the titling a specific gender, sometimes bulging, sometimes speeding, sometimes fading in the distance, sometimes doing nothing but crazily aligning with other design elements, but the result was always a fascinating creature that seemed to invariably want to dance and have fun. Tomato was built in exactly that spirit. The original film type certainly had enough swashes and curls to be an unmistakable funk font in itself, but our further expansion of it cements it and makes it the definite font for the genre. With as many as 12 different possibilities for some letters, the designer's choices for a titling set in Tomato are virtually limitless. The Postscript and True Type versions of Tomato come in five fonts, including two fonts for alternates, one font for ligatures, and one font for swashes. These are split into two affordable packages. A funny looking font with circular shapes and cutouts - both hippie and futuristic at the same time. This cool techno font is easily recognizable with its quite unique stroke endings. I have increased the ascenders and descenders slightly (so they would work better with the new diacritic letters) and introduced a few alternate letterforms in addition to generally expanding the character set. This charming, all caps display font was inspired by outdoor chalk board signage in front of outdoor cafes. These are common on the streets of places like London, Paris, Montreal, and Belgium. The letters are casual by design with just enough texture for convincing chalk marks. Use Cafe Francoise for a bakery logo, cafe menu, or poster. An early 1960s hand-lettered trade publication ad for an upcoming single 45 rpm release inspired the type design of Miss Rhythm JNL. The nickname of "Miss Rhythm" was given to Ruth Brown because of her popular "jump tunes"; that is rhythm and blues with an uptempo beat. Because the trade ad for her record was the inspiration for the font, it was only fitting to use that nickname as the font's name in honor of her.

The hand lettered credits from the 1950 Humphrey Bogart film “In a Lonely Place” inspired the digital version called Screenwriter JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The font was named after the profession of the main character (Dixon Steele) who was a Hollywood screenwriter.

Dark, spicy & distinctive display typefaces from the nineteenth century I had in mind when creating this font family. Extreme contrasts and sharp endings may remotely remind some blackletters, especially in narrowed styles. The range of interpolated widths is useful for designing a provoking poster, magazine, music or book cover.

Tufuli means "childish" in Arabic. In this font design I wanted to represent the characters as funny and flexible, just like childish characters can be. Aye, me lovelies, this be Scurvy Dog, a grand font! The letters were etched into a dead man's chest with a blunt rapier, pickled in brine and covered in spew. Ye could be using this crafty penmanship for yer logs or writing yer dear ol' mothers a letter.

This rough-and-tumble typeface is inspired by lettering in the Book of Kells. Celtic knots can be found in the ASCII circumfles (^), ASCII tilde (~), florin (ƒ) and section (§) positions. Art Deco monogram initials on a vintage business card from the Miami area inspired Golden Beach JNL. The font was named for a small upscale South Florida residential community located between Sunny Isles Beach in the Northern part of Miami-Dade County and Hallandale Beach in Southernmost Broward County.

Reepy is a font designed with horror in mind and works for all your scary needs. The design concept was designed with Tim Burton and Jordan Peele's "Us". It is ideal to be used in communicating something a creepy or frightening and this is where the name comes from.

FG Lina was inspired by an old handwritten book I found in the library. It contains some alternate caps characters and some rough lowercase characters. I had lots of fun designing the missing characters to fit in the script. I hope you will enjoy this Quill Script font!

The Stephenson Blake foundry in England, made two fonts, Flemish Expanded and Flemish Condensed. In our view, one was too wide, the other too narrow; so we redrew it and renamed it Brussels. Why not? Belgium is one of the few places where you may still hear Flemish spoken.

“The Secret Library” perfectly encapsulates the vintage scribbled italic while adding a contemporary twist. It intentionally retains inky edges in an effort to convey the feel of antiquity.
