In its heyday, the Starlight Room of the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City quite frequently printed lunch and dinner menus for not only their rotating bill of fare, but also for special events held there. The 1937 Electrolux (Eastern) Appreciation Banquet has its own menu cover, and the lettering was in a simple, yet Art-Deco influenced condensed block design with squared features. This family, in normal and bold weights, is based on Advertisers Gothic, designed by Robert Wiebking for Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1917. The original might be considered a transitional design between Art Nouveau and Art Deco; this version accentuates the Deco traits, adding a thick-and-thin treatment not found in the original. The large x-height and short descenders allow for compact, commanding headlines with a carefree charm, a.k.a. bell'agio. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

One of the more elegant script fonts available, this design is based on calligraphic handwriting called "Copperplate" because of the copper plates that it was etched into for reproduction. This face is not related to Copperplate [Gothic] by the American type designer, F.W. Goudy. The name Copperplate comes from the fact that writing masters used to hand-write their books and then send them to an engraver who recreated all the subtle details onto copper plates, which where then used to print the handwriting books.

Bohy was a candidate when it was felt there was a need for a "house font" to start a design service. Its readability can be relied on to clearly display the most creative or obscured names, yet the adherence to a chosen system of construction to achieve this consistency also make the Bohy characters stubbornly distinguishable from most other font sets if you were to group it under geometric, or technical typeface, or some other categories it should belong (it is considered more constructivist, not humanist, etc...).

Azero is a extra heavy sans serif font with four style variations. In Holland we eat pancakes with black syrup and I always thought that this ‘suikerstroop’ was the same as molasses. Turns out that’s not the case; syrup is made from sugar, but molasses is a by-product of the sugar refining industry. To celebrate the fact that I learned something new, I named this font family Black Molasses. Black Molasses was made using various cheap brushes and Chinese Ink. It comes in a ‘fat’ version and a ‘light’ version that work together really well.

Inoxida is Oxida's softer and more graceful sister. While Oxida has become quite the common sighting on the packaging of vegetables and organic foods, Inoxida now comes to fit the bill for food packaging that can benefit from more sophisticated script lettering. Mocha Mattari is a distressed font designed based on Bebas Neue released as a free font in 2010. The Original Bebas Neue has an inordinate level of popularity and it has often been used as a web font in recent years. This Mocha Mattari was made by damaging the original and tweaked by hand work. Basically, Mocha Mattari does not have lowercases but alternative Uppercases. Exceptionally “g, m, oz, fl, lb” for “gram, milli, ounce, fluid, pound” can be available by opentype dlig or salt features.

Youbee is a casual serifed font that is highly legible. It has a bit of contrast, but not much. It could be used as book text, but is better suited for less formal uses such as newsletters and pamphlets. Youbee gets its name from it origin, the Ultimate Blend (UB) of four very different typefaces: Euroika, Ingriana, BetterTypeRight, and KampFriendship. The earliest members of the family were constructed in 1996, with a shadow version added in 2011, extra weights in 1999, and two different widths in 2022.

Vonique 43 is a stylish display font designed to stop passerby in their tracks. Curvaceous lowercase members define this font along with a consistently thin line weight throughout. Most are elegantly styled after circles featuring very short descenders and matching the cap height of capital letters. This Charles Borges' script takes full advantage of the Open Type format with several automatic ligatures that occur as you type for a nicer fit. The inspiration source for MFC Sansome Monogram is a decorative serif lettering style that comes from the book Henderson's Sign Painter from 1906. Known as "Rustic Roman" and originally designed by John F. Irwin, this fantastic typeface has been digitally revived and expanded for monogram designs. While the original lettering did not include numerals and was never originally intended for monograms, its ornate nature lends itself so wonderfully to the craft. It’s big. It’s very big. Spade is a double whammy of pure slab footprint, sharp and soft, cowboy and cowgirl, country and western, shot and chaser, settlement and new frontier. It’s also quite modern in many aspects, not the least of which are the many curvy alternates included, and the smooth flow of the biform shapes when used with the main caps. Clocking in at over 670 characters per font, Spade comes loaded with very comprehensive Latin-based language support and OpenType features up to the hilt.

Sherbet BF is a robust, bouncy handwritten-style script with an enthusiastic voice. A number of Automatic Ligatures and Contextual Alternates, are included in the font, along with Stylistic Alternates for lowercase letters g, and y. Enable these features in OpenType-savvy programs (such as InDesign CS+, Illustrator CS+ and QuarkXpress 7 and later) to enhance your typography.
