This font was inspired from the medieval Dances of Death patterns, as a modest tribute to the famous engraver Hans Holbein's Alphabet of Death. We have tried to keep the spirit of the time -- its sarcastic humor mixed with its objective and frozen realism. The font, consisting in two complete capital alphabets: Initials and caps, and a lot of separate figures added, is especially improved by strong enlargements, 72 pts and more, and has very good results when printed.

PT Quadrat Grotesk™ was designed for ParaType in 2001 by Vladimir Pavlikov. An expanded sans serif with square letterforms due to what the face was named. Based on the shapes of one of old Russian wooden types. Wooden types were used for placard display composition at large sizes. Their printouts retained wooden texture and traces of handling. These features are reflected in the shapes of Quadrat Grotesk. It is a good typeface for display and advertising typography.

Alphacal JNL and Alphacal Black JNL are variants of the same lettering style found in Jeff Levine's Juneway JNL font... all based on water-applied decals once made by the Duro Decal Company (now Duro Art Industries) of Chicago, Illinois. This font was inspired by one of Antoine Augereau's three roman typefaces: the Gros Romain (±16 Pts) size, used in 1533 to print Le miroir de l'âme..., a religious poetic compilation by Marguerite de Navarre, sister of the French king François the first. It seems possible that Augereau may have also engraved italic styles. Garuspik is an original ulra condensed, narrow, tall font with 3 styles: display, round and square. Let Me Call You Sweetheart was one of the most popular songs of the early 20th Century, and a piece of vintage sheet music for this tune had its title hand lettered in a square, narrow block lettering style. With a few adjustments and adaptations, this led to the creation of Tall and Narrow JNL, a digital version of the type design which is a perfect alternate to the more conventional condensed faces.

Fazeta is a type family that uses the optical sections. It is a modern static antiqua (it has not obliqued axis, serifs without slopes) but distant from ceremonious and rigid look of this type category. Inspiration was typeproduction from Czechoslovakia 60’s - J. Týfa, V. Preissig, J. Linzboth or A. Krátky. Common factor of this typefaces is vivid and sharp design with stable serifs, tend to rational construction rather than calligraphy and some sophisticated small details vitalized general impression. In this case are facetted asymmetrical arches (some abbreviation). Specific of this typeface is a short arch of glyph “f” that allows comfortable typesetting without ligatures obligation. In character set are besides classical ligatures discretionary ligatures for special occasions. Another surprising element is that all vertical strokes are slightly expanded upwards. These details become invisible in small text but in larger sizes impressed the eye and fix attention to headline. For traditional text feeling are here alternative glyphs “a, c, f, j, k, r, y, K, R” terminated with typical serif. Typeface is graded by optical size into 3 variants - caption (robust structure with low contrast, suitable for size 6 - 9 pt), text (medium contrast, suitable for ordinary text about 10 pt) and display (high contrast and subtle details for 20 pt and higher). In 2005, Handsome Pro was one of the first script typefaces to utilize the OpenType format to simulate the natural quality of writing, by automatically substituting alternate contextual glyphs. The effect follows the conventional “joining rules” of calligraphy, which are a formalization of the way in which letter forms are modified in cursive handwriting for the sake of speed and efficiency—and also perhaps to make life more interesting. For the look of real handwriting, Handsome is most convincing at around 15 pts. At much smaller or larger sizes it works differently. At display size, the feel of the non-nib styles is very slick, more like a speedball Kauffman, owing to the smoothness of the finish. As script fonts go, Handsome has a relatively large x-height, which can be useful if you don't want the “writing” to look too small.

Trigomy is a proportional pixel font designed on a 5 pixel grid. It is intended for either very small text or as huge display font for posters and the like. To get a crisp look this font should be used at 10 pt or multiples of 10 pt. (A tip for Adobe Creative Suite applications is to change the standard anti-aliasing method from “sharp” to “crisp” and to align the text to whole pixels. Also avoid centered text.) To get started with type design I thought it was best to start with a pixel font because you don't have to focus much on the design itself, but rather have to focus on how kerning and spacing works and the various features you can implement with OpenType. And of course I wanted to have a pixel font that had all that I was missing from other pixel fonts. We were learning trigonometry at the time I started designing Trigomy, and most of the time I misspoke it “trigometry”. So, when I had to come up with a name for my first font I thought: "Why not go with Trigomy?"

The motivation behind the Botanika family was the desire to create a text version of the Magion font. Although the glyphs were originally drawn using the same proportions, they were subsequently adjusted in order to improve legibility. The font retains certain characteristics of the original, such as the top serif on the “i” and the similar bottom serif on the “l”. Lowering the x-height lent the family a new and original character. The italics are slightly more condensed than the regular weight, without losing the austere grace of the regular weight. They are distinct enough to stand out in the text. Alternative characters can be selected to spice up the setting, or conversely to subdue headlines by using more traditional letter shapes. Small caps are available as well. The monospace version is a 10 pitch font: at 10 pt type size 10 characters fit exactly into the width of one inch, meaning that individual letters Take up 60 % of an em in width. Elida JNL was modeled from an image of some wood type for sale online. Although the type design most likely has its roots in the classic Bodoni, there were a few characters in the original wood type that had a bit of a square or block shape to them.
