Violant fonts are designed as a tribute to Queen Violant, wife of Jaume 1st, king of Aragon, a woman of strong character, who supported her husband in the conquest of Valencia in 1238. Avimode is bold, sharp, and futuristic. An original CubicType design with a design inspired by the holes and tracks on printed circuit boards. Text set in Avimode fills almost all the space available to it, and has small details. Foundry Dat is created with a common horizontal dash grid structure for accurate layering when characters are superimposed. Foundry Dat’s integrated background aligns vertically and horizontally, when set solid, forming a continuous pattern. Foundry Dat’s companion family Foundry Dit functions as a legible correspondence font, with a ‘typewriter’ feel. Each family contains: light, regular, medium and bold weights. Foundry Dat comes with a series of dashes to extend the background grid. Characters can also be offset to make different patterns – in the process becoming images – a graphic language with total integration of form and function.

Architype Konstrukt is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals have helped to shape the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Due to their experimental nature character sets may be limited. Architype Albers draws on early grid-based attempts by Josef Albers, in 1926, to design an alphabet by reducing the forms to purely geometric elements – the square, triangle and parts of a circle – and in the process creating an unusual stencil effect typeface.

Taler is a serif typeface is represented by seven weights. It was conceived as a continuation of the sans-serif Nekst. In the process of design it became clear that it is a completely different typeface. The rectangular, slightly elongated serifs, the plastic stiffness, and the combination of different styles make Taler a true representative of contemporary. The name Jeullyta is taken from the Indonesian language but with modified pronunciation. The correct one is Jelita which means "Gorgeous". I named this font Jeullyta because it is gorgeous, from the initial process until the end product. It is a strong yet nice looking script font and can be considered a brush font too with the shadow on the body of each glyph. BluHead Studio LLC is pleased to announce the release of 9 fonts from the Churchward Design family designed by New Zealand typeface designer Joseph Churchward. BluHead Studio is in the process of digitizing many of the fonts in Churchward’s extensive library of exciting and unique designs and will be releasing them in OpenType format on a regular basis. Churchward Design Lines is the latest addition to the Churchward Design family. The family now consists of nine unique fonts, all based on a classic, straightforward geometric glyph forms, with the addition of Churchward’s quirky details.

Basile is the conclusion of a process that began with the learning of italic handwriting in a roballos-Naab studio course. In this workshop I developed a variation of chancery handwriting which had a more pronounced wider than its historical model. While making the digitalization, the forms were modified to obtain a similar spirit to the one in the handwriting, but thinking about the text in small sizes. Also incorporating three sets of forms enlarged the family: italic, swash and extra swash. And the addition of initials and terminals sets.

Giambattista Bodoni of Parma designed and cut his typefaces circa 1790. The Bodoni types were the first of the Modern type designs in which hairlines contrast sharply with bolder stems, and serifs are unbracketed. The Bauer Bodoni font family derives from a cutting for metal type in 1926, retaining many of the original features. As with all versions of this typeface, the contrast between thick and thin strokes of Bauer Bodoni should be taken into consideration as the thin strokes can appear to fade out under certain printing processes.

Quenbach is a classy and geometric font family that includes 36 weights. Especially, this Font family has elaborated the Kerning Process to be useful in Editorial Design. Stupid Meeting is an all caps display sans that didn't quite get its full 8 hours of sleep. A lot of attitude went into the design process and it shows throughout the entire character set. From a distance it looks fairly pedestrian but the closer you get, the rougher it gets around the edges. It's very simple, yet extremely playful. This family is available in 3 different styles. I'm always experimenting with new ideas for display fonts. I took the inside counter of a capital 'O', divided it into quarters, and applied an outline stroke to all the elements. By removing two quarters of the inside counter I had the beginnings for an interesting new design. Of course, the hard part was getting all the other letters in the alphabet to work well together using this approach. It's often a labor of love trying to shape an idea into a new typeface. I find the entire process stimulating and rewarding.

Europa Grotesque is a condensed sans serif font family that was originally designed by Sam Ardell (TP) in the 1950’s for the Techni-Process Collection. Steve Jackaman (ITF) acquired the rights to the TP Collection in 1991 and produced Europa Grotesque in its digital form in 1994. Europa Grotesque has impressive impact at display and subhead sizes, and its geometric forms sustain that distinctiveness in both all-caps and lowercase. The family is flexible and freeform enough to support both a laid-back feel while still feeling tight and controlled.

The process was gradual, like the ripening of a sauce that leaves it to be reduced to strengthen flavors, so the letters ripened while reducing unnecessary details, until the taste became more concentrated and uniform. Unger has redesigned a large number of beautiful ancient typefaces during the last few years. Peter Rosenfeld of profonts persuaded him to try and produce his own very beautiful handwriting. Kind of hesitant at the beginning of the design process, Unger's joy and excitement about the project was continuously growing during the design process. Ralf Herrmann, the designer of Wayfinding Sans, started this project with extensive field studies, driving tens of thousands of miles to explore the legibility of road signage typefaces in dozens of countries around the world. After building his own theoretical framework of relevant legibility parameters, the design process used a unique custom real-time simulation software, which could simulate difficult reading conditions (distance, fog, halation, positive/negative contrast) while the letters were actually being designed. This process made it possible to optimize even the tiniest details of each letter for maximum legibility. Being made specifically for wayfinding purposes, this type family does not compromise on any aspect of legibility — and yet, the typeface is a beautiful, clean and modern sans serif. With its broad language support and the large number of available styles it is perfectly suitable for any possible signage project anywhere in the world. How does one arrive at a font name? With the thousands of digital typefaces available, it's not an easy process. Bandleader JNL was modeled from the hand-lettered title on a piece of sheet music called "Largo", which means "slow tempo". Since the names "Largo" and "Tempo" were already taken, what other musical theme would fit? The lettering is in an Art Deco style, and Big Band was all the rage of the Art Deco period; therefore "Bandleader". Sometimes the road to naming a font takes on many twists and turns but the end result is always gratifying.

Naming this typeface Troika, the Russian word meaning "group of three", seemed apt because the starting point in this design process was a three sided letter 'O'. This triangular type styling became a template guide for the rest of the character set. Troika is a highly distinctive, ultra modern typeface with idiosyncratic letterforms that make for striking headlines, particularly at large display sizes. Challenging, futuristic and experimental, always unique, and with caps as characterful as the lower case. Troika being derived from the French 'Triangle' and the Latin 'Triangulus' it seemed only fitting to design three weights: Light, Medium & Bold.

Sumply is a multi-layered type family based on geometric forms. A monospace display typeface which comes as a family of four. It is equipped with OpenType features and contextual alternatives to create a versatile and fresh output. Sumply initially was designed to be used in personalization processes in digital printing. By choosing the basic geometric cut (FOUR), patterns and various graphic elements can be created just by importing text variables into the indesign data merge. If combined with the other cuts the possibilities are sheer endless. Sumply was selected to be in the 2016 edition of Typodarium.

The Cardea family of typefaces is the outcome of David Cabianca’s 2003–04 MA Typeface Design experience at the University of Reading. With Cardea, Cabianca intended to mix classical and modern characteristics, and in the process he created a typeface that “sparkles” on the page, with high contrast, luster and crisp edges. The result is a type with a muscular or sculptural feel much like the work of artists like Arne Quinze or Mark di Suvero. Cardea was designed to function as a text face. It features three weights each with accompanying italics, small caps and a variety of ligatures.

Citrine is a study in curves, based upon word-processing and in-game text. A tall lowercase makes for easy reading, curved joints give it friendliness, and broad spacing delivers distinctive all-caps treatments. Here’s a downloadable PDF specimen. Citrine’s basic idea began as “a Havelock for reading.” Essential geometry delivers a sense of harmony, and forms sit broadly next to each other to be easily read, even onscreen and very small. Citrine includes case-sensitive alternate shapes for smooth all-caps typesetting, small caps, and a wide range of diacritics to cover a multitude of latin-based languages.
