The hand-lettered title, cast and crew credits for 1943's "Presenting Lily Mars" (starring Judy Garland and Van Heflin) inspired Pocatello JNL, but the name of this typeface has another Judy Garland connection. In the 1954 remake of "A Star is Born", Judy sings of being born in a trunk in a theater located in Pocatello, Idaho. The name of this Midwest town had such a great sound to it, so it was the perfect choice for the font's name. Available in regular, oblique, bold and bold oblique versions.

The Tang family came to be, when I started studying fonts made for use in very small point sizes, like Bell Gothic. I studied the use of ink traps and went to town with them. Instead of just using them for their purpose: trapping ink to prevent the type getting blotted; I used them as a design feature. With those features Tang works very well in both headline and text use. I use it as a house type, and I've already seen it in a beer and cider labels.

I do a lot of taller, narrower handwriting fonts; this time around, I was inspired to make a wider, shorter handwriting font! MUGGSY has everything you expect from one of my fonts: clean and smooth curves, a full set of alternates, and a feeling of fun! MUGGSY has two uppercase-height alphabets (with a few lowercase-style letters like a and e in the lowercase set), plus a full set of 63 "smallternates" -- the same letters, numbers, and ampersand sized down to 75%, and beefed up in weight so they can be mixed in with the full-size letters. Plus 30 double-letter ligature sets, and a few additional alternates for variety! This is a special font for use creating US Postal Service "Intelligent Mail" barcodes. Those are the barcodes you see on most cards and envelopes. Commercial mailers get the best pricing by printing barcodes when they address the mail, saving the Postal Service a step. The barcodes are also used on reply mail and Share mail, and for "Informed Visibility" tracking. Software to create these barcodes, including the USPS Intelligent Mail Small Business (IMsB) tool, typically provide an output of 65 characters, each character being an A, D, T or F, corresponding to each of the styles of bar. SmartBars 12 replaces those characters with the corresponding bar. When doing a mail merge to print addresses, the user would set the barcode field on their merge template to be printed using SmartBars 12, at 12 point, regular, and the barcode will print with the correct bars and at the required size to meet USPS requirements.
