German designer Jürgen Weltin designed Linotype Finnegan, a modern text design with roots in the humanist letterforms of the Renaissance. As the recognizable direction of movement in writing runs from upper left to lower right, Weltin mimicked this in his design: Linotype Finnegan's up and down strokes end in residual serifs. All of the thick strokes have a taper; horizontal strokes and curves are noticeably thinner than the verticals. This dynamic nature lends a combination of individualness and energy, along with a high degree of variety, to Linotype Finnegan. Linotype Finnegan is a wholly new and unique typeface. It distinguishes itself through its extreme legibility, originality, and formal excellence. Linotype Finnegan makes fun to read longer texts non-stop. However, the typeface never distracts the attention from the text's content by forcing itself too much into the foreground.

Glosa is a type family designed for editorial purposes. Glosa is delicate and highly readable at very small sizes but reveals all its strength and personality when used at big sizes. The contrast of the sharped serifs and ball terminals, provide a fresh and very contemporary look. Glosa Text is a bracketed serif, softer, smooth and less idiosyncratic, suitable for text settings. Both styles have four weights and italics, in a workhorse typeface, full of OpenType features such as Small Caps, Tabular Figures, Central Europe characters and Historical Figures, among others. Glosa Headline is ideally suited for nameplates and headline typography, with four weights and with lowercase matching the small caps. In Glosa most of the diacritics were designed to fit the gap between the x-height and the caps height, avoiding some common problems with the accented characters.

My goal for Harfang was to create a serif typeface that would be easy to read at text sizes, while having a strong personality at larger sizes. The initial design had a purely rounded style, but with each development pass I introduced some angularity. The final result is a typeface that is easy to read in long texts, advertising copy, annual reports and the like; but one that also provides a crisp and stylish appeal in more prominent display settings. I choose the name Harfang (Harfang des neiges — Snowy Owl or Great White Owl) because after my first typeface, Migration, I wanted something with a thematic relation. On a more personal level, Harfang is the official bird of Québec, a province with a long winter and a wonderful, white landscape, and the place I call home. —André Simard

Matchmaker, a modern calligraphy typeface, was inspired by the various works of modern day calligraphers. Ceres is has its roots in Cyan, our other font family. Like Cyan, Ceres has a complementary lowercase that provides more versatility than a classic Roman. It is arguably more elegant than Cyan with its accentuated serifs. The lowercase "e" and "g" give Ceres a distinct calligraphic personality. Ceres, the font, derived its name from Ceres the Roman goddess. In Roman mythology, Ceres is the goddess of growing plants (particularly cereals) and of motherly love. Ceres was usually equated with the Greek goddess Demeter. Ceres was the daughter of Saturn and Ops, wife-sister of Jupiter, mother of Proserpina by Jupiter and sister of Juno, Vesta, Neptune and Pluto. Ceres made up a trinity with Liber and Libera, who were two other agricultural gods. She also had twelve minor gods who assisted her, and they were in charge of specific aspects of farming.

Rebrand is all about geometry, a typography that boosts confidence. However, contrary to pure, cold mathematics, this font seeks a more jovial and friendly face. The goal with Rebrand is to offer a Geometric Sans Serif font that can work in various instances, from symbols and titles, to text, and everything in between. It also creates a whole lot of personality, ideal for branding. There are two versions: Display, which is more fluid and dynamic with nine programmed weights for a wide array of intensity. Hellenic Typewriter is a slab serif for text and display, combining the typewriter aesthetic's balance of elegance and pragmatism with some of the extended western flavour of Hellenic Wide. JMTF Robin is a new post-modernist typeface in the spirit of Art & Crafts, born as a concept of a reformulation of a Gothic traditional building structure. As part of the day job I had to trace an old hand drawn logo of a Masonic Lodge from a very poor scan. When I finally got to the end of it I had almost a whole alphabet and I really liked the hand drawn uneven quality, so I made up the rest of the letters and set about making it into a font. I roughened up all the edges for an even older look, added a host of OpenType features and hey presto, Masonic Lodge was born. There are two versions of each letter and number which automatically alternate when contextual alternates are set, more alternates for O and o characters, a good amount of interlock style L and T ligatures (uppercase) and a square & compass ornament. Use it for pub signs, secret society meetings, monster movie titles and pub menus.

HS Alwafa is an Arabic display typeface. It is useful for book titles and creative graphic projects where a contemporary, streamlined look is desired for digital purposes. The font is based on the simple lines of sequre Kufi calligraphy, that support Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Kurdish. This font was created in the beginning as a digital weight in 2012 for use by an engineering digital company. The company tends to follow the geometrical united and equal shape in both vertical and horizontal dimensions and with a tendency for digital strokes showing digital numbers under the name of base. Akira Kobayashi's ITC Seven Treasures is a symbol font for use in patterns and textures. The interlocking patterns, usually circular or oval, are taken primarily from motifs used in Japanese textiles. Most of these designs are known as komon, or tiny patterns," and they are often applied to kimono and other textiles, although their use is not limited to fabrics. They also appear carved in wood in traditional architecture, and painted in pictures as background patterns. Schlange is a rich typeface with rounded terminals. The family includes five sans serifs and five slab serifs in weights from ultra liight to bold. Schlange’s personality is determined by an open aperture and quite large lower case characters in comparison with the upper case set.
