Plakato, a stencil love affair Plakato is a family of display fonts, consisting of various eye-catching styles, each of them very bold. Plakato is an identity toolkit, a heavyweight building block in case you need a strong personality, a small stencil font family to cut out your best ideas and grab all the attention. Charles W. "Plot" Plotner was a cartoonist who had developed a template-based cartooning set for kids circa 1952 called "Plot-O". A companion set was called "Plot-O the Clown". "Plot-O" consisted of two plastic templates with pre-cut and numbered cartoon shapes. By following the simple directions and tracing the corresponding parts, any youngster could create basic cartoons of people and finish them off with their own details. The hand-lettered instruction booklet provided the design inspiration for Cartoon Panel JNL.

Guaruja Grotesk is the first Tipogra Fio family for headlines & body copy. The grotesque form factor is much inspired in the Modernism movement from the mid of 20th Century but the Italic weight is a great cursive contrast aside the Roman ones so you can make very brutalist layouts or craft humanist projects, without losing the communication between all the family. Do not be afraid to type words with uppercase I and lowercase L because this last one has its own personality so do others glyphs like Italic lowercase G, Y and K and the straight corners in the Roman uppercase A, K, V, W, X, Y and Z. The same curves and corners are transferred to the numbers, symbols and so on. If your text is in a latin alphabet even though has lots of diacritcs, Guaruja may get it done! With its slightly rough edges, Thumbnail Text works well where lettering is required. Letterforms wiggle a bit here and there but are generally quite uniform. Characters are a bit imprecise - but not showy or bouncy. They appear more adult-looking than childish and are very legible. Put Thumbnail Text to work as drafting notation or on blueprint projects that need to be easily read. It¹s also useful when concept or sketch stage lettering needs to look serious but not highly stylized. You might experiment with it inside cartoon thought balloons or in callouts. This design is based on an old showcard style from the 1940s. It's been dusted off and reissued for modern use. A lowercase has been added for greater functionality. Thumbnail Text Regular is now available in the OpenType Std format. Some additional characters have been added to this OpenType version as stylistic alternates. This advanced feature works in current versions of Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

Guilloches were – in the old days – used to make the falsification of banknotes more difficult. The engraving of these intricate lines was done by a highly specialized mechanical machine, which was operated by an equally highly specialized engraving artist. Once the settings for a specific curve were changed back to zero it was very difficult, if not impossible to set them back to the old design. I have designed a useful set of Guilloches that join to form ribbons that create a kind of op-art 3d effect. Under the keys A-U and a-u you find joining pieces. Under the keys V-Z and v-z I placed start- and endpieces. 0-4 are different lenght straight extensions and 5-9 are not quite so straight extensions. All other keys are corner pieces that can be used as stand-alones or put in rows to make for superb decoration.
