The great enigma There are hidden depths to FS Silas Sans. First impressions are of a functional, multi-purpose typeface with a cool, edgy, angular character. Gaze into its eyes a little longer, though, and you'll detect a more nuanced, colourful personality, with full, open, satisfyingly squarish forms balancing the abruptness of the sharply-angled terminals and ascenders. Authoritative, official and stern on the outside; amiable and welcoming on the inside. You’re so Dane The designers, led by Phil Garnham, were trying to capture something straight-talking, authentic, and a little... Scandinavian. ‘We were thinking about some of the characters in Danish dramas that were on in the early stages of the font’s development, like The Killing and The Bridge,’ says Phil. ‘The police officers, that is, not the psychopathic killers. Smart and a bit cool, but with a warm heart.’ For a good Danish name, we settled on Silas. It was that or Hans-Christian. The finer points Silas Sans rewards close inspection. Study, if you will, its amply squarish forms, the roomy ‘o’ and ‘e’, in particular. Observe the angular ascenders and terminals of, for example, the ‘L’, ‘I’, ‘d’ and ‘i’, inferring the movement and lift of a pen. Consider the cuts to the ‘A’ and ‘v’ that create harmony with adjacent letters. And scrutinise the subtle ink traps set within the ‘A’ and ‘Y’ for reproduction at small sizes. Not inspired by any one thing, Candy Randy came about as an attempt to capture the feel of hours spent aimlessly perusing childrens' advertising and packaging from the early 1960s. It always reminds me a bit of Christmas and was named after an imaginary character in tales told to my youngest sister.

The British Telegraph font family was inspired by classic headers of Britain newspapers from the middle of XX century. Classic look with three width – Light, Regular and Bold. Great for headers, signs or logos. Also, working well for text blocks. - The British Telegraph Light: Use it for text blocks, or for gently light header typographic. Try to make more wide tracking with capitals, it looks good. - The British Telegraph Regular: Great for simple message, quotes, subheaders (If the header is Bold) or advert slogans. - The British Telegraph Bold: Is a killing title buddy. Massive, strong, bold and in the same time – very gentle. Perfectly for main words, headers, signs or logo's. Think of Garamouche as Garamond's drunken cousin. This font replicates a long lost document ravaged by time and the elements (with a little sloppy printing for good measure.) Unlike the fake bolding option found in software programs, Garamouche Bold is a variant with more appropriate thick and thin features. Fer is a sans-serif font for body text, not lacking in its own distinctive voice.
