Memoire is an elegant linear hairline contemporary sans. It is based on the underlying form of Vanitas, yet is rendered in a nearly monolinear hairline weight. Memoire is intended to be used selectively for headline use starting at 60pt and above. Stylistically, Memoire retains Vanitas’ alluring, sophisticated sensibility that is directly inspired by high fashion. The delicate linear form creates a sense of cohesiveness and lends the typeface an intriguing lightness of character. The upright styles are complimented by a pairing of optically adjusted true italics, which were purposefully adapted to retain the sharpness of their counterparts. Abandoning traditionally executed cursive italic letterforms retains Memoire’s sharp characteristic through each style.

Port Vintage is a new typeface expanded upon the original Port typeface, released in 2013, and being an experimental Didone typeface with a modern twist, inspired by the well known forms of typography masters such as Bodoni and Didot and the exuberance and elegance of calligraphy typefaces. A lot of changes were made, the whole typeface is now softer and has less rough edges, the time it took to mature made it possible to achieve an entirelly new and distinct flavour from the original Port, giving away the rough edges from Port and giving place to the soft transitions and curved connections between the stems and serifs of Port Vintage. Port Vintage melts the straight lines and strong contrasts of the Didone typefaces with the elegant lines of calligraphy in a geometric way, resulting in exuberant characters with geometric swashes that can be combined in countless ways. The result of this experiment is Port Vintage, an unique and rich display typeface meant to be used on big sizes and it’s main perk is the amount of alternative characters it features. Port Vintage is Open-Type programmed and includes hundreds of alternates, from swashes to titling alternates, ligatures and stylistic sets with each character having a thin version of itself, giving complete freedom to all your creative needs. I was inspired to create the Rainier type family during my summer back home in the Pacific Northwest. The concept behind it may be simple - a hand crafted font family - but what it delivers is quite complex! Here is a breakdown of everything you get: FONT FAMILIES: Two sub-families with unique styles - Rainier North and Rainier West WEIGHTS: 4 weights per family, broken down numerically - 100 (light), 300 (regular), 500 (bold), 700 (black) OPENTYPE: In each family, there are tons of OpenType options, offering lots of customizable opportunities (in order to access all these goodies, you must be using Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign or Publisher). Because Rainier is 100% handmade, contextual alternatives allow each letter has three subtle variations, this way it keeps that authentic hand-drawn look. Additionally, a full alphabet with special descending swashes, as well as start and end swashes for capitals and small caps. Titling alternatives offer a full character set just to help with readability! Before the mid-to-late 1970s, when retailers started to embrace UPC (universal price code) technology on a grand scale, pricing merchandise took on many forms. One method especially popular with variety stores (such as Woolworth's, McCrory's, Kress, etc.) were pre-printed price tags that came in small pads and were inserted into metal holders. Shelf Tags JNL recreates a vintage price tag based on examples seen online, and allows the user different ways to create their own vintage-style price tags. You can either utilize the round pen nib style numbers and price marks to place on any size or type tag, or type out prices using the reversed characters (white on black) along with the two end caps provided to form a complete tag unit. For the more adventurous, a complete blank tag is also provided in case the desire is to print a solid color tag background and [using the regular numbers] crate prices in custom colors. Two sets of smaller number (for "floating" cents prices) are also provided in regular numbers and reverse panels. Northeast Railway is a product of argentine typographic archeology project called "Tipografía Histórica Ferroviaria" (Fabio Ares & Octavio Osores, since 2012). Is about the signboards of the stations of the line of the Argentine North Eastern Railway Company Limited (1987-1948). The letter of this signboards can be described as display type, with elementary geometric shapes and without line modulation. The principal font of the resultant family is the bold. The family is completed with complementary fonts of different styles. The proceeds from the sale of the fonts will be used to finance the project.

Although brass line rules were a common feature in almost every vintage type catalog, these were recreated from those by the Franklin Type Foundry. Filling the Numerals and all Capital and Lowercase glyph slots are a total of 62 traditional Brass Rule designs, all extendable by combining with other rules, or by extending the pin line by simply typing a dash "-". Staehle Graphia Script was designed by Professor Walter Stähle in the 1960s. It is a very vertical font in the style of the printing on private correspondence in the 19th century. The elegant and sweeping capitals of Linotype Staehle Graphia Script are particularly well-suited to the beginning of passages or lines while the capitals of Linotype Staehle Graphia are better for longer texts. Both should be used with a relatively small line width. The lyricism and liveliness displayed by the font makes it the perfect choice for artistic texts such as poems.

Art deco typography from the Netherlands that summons a thirties vibe for a nostalgic twist on chic lines. Planjer is the work of designer Leon Hulst, and you can see from the layout examples here that nostalgia means ruin, and it has become super cool to use a ruin vibe in retro aesthetics. Yep, there's a touch of class to that worn out look and feel, and the beautiful lines of the typography and numerals show how the barely restrained charisma of art deco can be coupled with the new obsession with all things vintage.

One of the odder things I remember from high school (50+ years ago) is the tile floor of hexagons in the bathroom. There is something fascinating with the way hexagons fill the plane. BakerHalfDozen is made of white letters that fit on black, hexagonal tiles. BakerHalfWhite switches the letters to black on white tiles, and BakerHalfBare eliminates the tiles. There are no true lower-case letters, but some letters have alternate shapes. To make the tiles line up right, alternate lines must be indented half a space. Use the {} characters (brackets) to do this.
