The new typeface family Vida was specifically designed for Czech Television in the framework of a competition for a new logo in summer 2006. The drawing of each letter form differs finely in its logic, which is a feature invisible at first. It is constructed on a puristic base, but it doesn't reject the natural anomalies already known from ages of experience with latin alphabet. That's why e. g. upper left section of 'n' is constructed differently from that of 'r', similarly as 'd' doesn't repeat right-bottom ending after 'u', '9' is not inverted '6'. Such details improve reading in continuous text. The behavior of all weights is consistent on CRT, plasma or LCD screens due to monolinear design; the lightest weight doesn't fade, the darkest isn't blurred, all is legible and clear in smallest sizes. Linotype Mindline is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. With Mindline, the German designer Critzler plays with geometry and typefaces. Each character is basically a rectangle with a geometric form etched in it which happens to be a member of the alphabet. This formal style comes from the advertisement typefaces of the 1920s and is reminiscent of the constructivist posters of this time. The appearance of the characters take priority over the funcitonality and the eye can hardly recognize the forms of letters and numerals which meet it everyday. The Adinkra alphabet is a way to write some of the languages spoken in Ghana and Ivory Coast, such as Akan, Dagbani, Ewe and Ga. It is a simplified version of the Adinkra symbols, and was introduced in 2015 by Charles M. Korankye, who has written a number of books about it. According to tradition, the Adinkra symbols were created by Nana Kwadwo Agyemang Adinkra, the King Gyaman people in the Ashanti region of Ghana from 1810 to 1820. Or they were created by Gyaman people, and the king liked them so much that he wore them on his clothes and named that after himself. VLNL Boulangerie was originally an incomplete set of early 20th century wood type letters, that Donald Roos found in a dust covered carton box stashed away somewhere at the Royal Academy in The Hague. Charmed by the letter forms Donald decided to print them on paper with a printing press. Next he digitised the prints as they came out, including small imperfections and damages. The missing characters were composed and added digitally to complete the alphabet. (See if you can spot those!?) We think VLNL Boulangerie is a little French in appearance (hence the name), it's joyful, warm, a little crunchy and round-ish. It defenitely has that ‘je-ne-sais-quoi’ that seperates it from most wood type grotesques. It can be perfect for lettering on a storefront window of – let's say a bread shop or a lunchroom. Or a logo for a downtown hipster café. VLNL Boulangerie hardly has any limitations actually.

Bonbon is not for nothing the French word for ‘good’ twice! You could definitely consider VLNL Bonbon the typographic equivalent of these exquisite chocolate sweets. Inspired by lettering on an Amsterdam church facade and a ladies clothing store window, Donald DBXL Beekman started drawing the first incarnation of Bon Bon already in 2004. The original idea was an alphabet design with slanted oval inner shapes and extremely long and striking serifs. This proved to be a quite demanding design job, so It took Bon Bon some time to get finished. But now it’s here in all its extravagant glory. Most recently a number of lowercase characters were added to make Bon Bon more versatile. Totally insane and over-top-the-top it has been called. But hey, we all love Bon Bon. Don't we?

Drop_it is a redesign of fonts originally created to be recognized by computers using OCR (optical character recognition) softwares. Strangely, human beings fell in love for the stylistic inconsistencies of these fonts made for machines. In small sizes, Drop_it emulates the appearance of fonts in antique operational systems monitors. In large sizes, its structure is composed of capsules and pills allude the universe of medicines, drugs and rave culture. Drop_it italic set adds velocity to text compositions using six angle variations. All the fun starts with a very unusual Break version. Fall version is a kind of "anti-italic". Slow version put your text in another rhythm. Swing have a little italic emphasis. Italic is, you know, italic. And Speed version run away.

DM PopCap is the third typeface released by DM Founts. It was created to accompany a 2013 LEGO-based project, which itself was inspired by the music video for Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson. I had to create the typeface in order to make title cards, as no such typeface appeared to exist. Although the resulting typeface looks similar to the text appearing in the music video, I also set myself the challenge of creating the remaining characters of the alphabet, as well as others that some would find useful. As suggested by the music video, the typeface would be ideal for a futuristic or technological setting, particularly concerning space travel. In the project I had paired this typeface with Myriad Pro. As with my other offerings, this font is intended for use heading or standalone title use - but it also appears to work on its own for small paragraphs of text.

OCR-A was originally designed in 1968 as a machine-readable alphabet. Its functionality was its most important element, instead of its design. Over the following decades, the typeface has become popular in the design world nevertheless. But typographically pleasing results are often hard to come by, due to the original design’s “non-design design”, as well as its undeveloped character set. In 2006, Miriam Röttgers revised and extended OCR-A, creating OCR A Tribute. OCR A Tribute is a typeface family comprising of two versions: one in which the glyphs have been proportionally-spaced, and another that is monospaced. In the monospaced version, all glyphs have the same width, like the letters in the original OCR-A font do. Both versions of OCR A Tribute contain complete character sets and expert glyphs, as well as lining and old style figures. Beatrix Antiqua is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Francesco Canovaro. Beatrix Antiqua is part of the Beatrix Family that takes its inspiration from the classic Roman monumental capital model: its capitals are directly derived from the stone carvings in Florence Santa Croce Cathedral - where the serifs are often removed while keeping the variable width strokes. So, even if it’s basically a sans-serif, Beatrix keeps a subtle swelling at the terminals suggesting a glyphic serif - in the same vein as Herman Zapf classic Optima typeface. In the lowercase design, Beatrix references early humanist typefaces, keeping small calligraphic details (as the prolongation of the e nose) that are especially visible in the italics. While Beatrix Antiqua, the companion typeface to Florentia , slightly exaggerates its antique stylistical features, Florentia tries to mix those influence with a more robust & digital age ready design, featuring bigger X-height and an extended character set that covers over forty languages using the latin alphabet, as well as Greek and Russian Cyrillic.
