This script is made for mimicking handwriting with a fair amount of ligatures: there are more than 700 ligature pairs (or even more characters; I never really counted them) to help you to make very, very convincing lines of text without ever lifting a pen! Becka Script was designed by David Harris in 1985 and is a wide running typeface with varying stroke contrasts. This font looks as though written with a broad tipped pen and its slight slant to the right makes clear its similarity to callipgraphy fonts. Becka Script is reminiscent of the 1950s and its strong strokes make it best for headlines or shorter texts.

Inspired by Edward M. Catich’s seminal thesis on the origins of the Roman inscriptional style, such as that found on Trajan’s column, Richard Lipton’s Canto traces the path from an expressive, preparatory Brush (with Brush Open to preserve gestural details at smaller sizes), through informal Pen, to the formal Roman. Classical capitals are accompanied by Lipton’s own calligraphic lowercase, small caps, and swashes.

From original samples of Rudolf Koch's Maximilian, Gothicus and Gothicus Alternate have Fraktur style captials, Gothicus Roman has Roman capitals. All three have the same lower case which includes three swash characters for g, s and t, available as discretionary ligatures in OpenType versions, and manually otherwise. All include two authentic ornaments, also penned by Koch. Gothicus Roman has three additional floret ornaments.

Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) is a species of holly, native to the USA and Canada. I thought it was a rather cool name (pun intended) for a messy script font made during a cold spell. Winterberry was created using Chinese ink and a crappy brush - hence its messy appearance. Use Winterberry on your alt-Christmas invitations, your fantasy novels, your rock albums or your website! You’ll love it! Comes with a bunch of diacritics and some ripe double letter ligatures as well.

A retro-style can be regarded as lack of original contemporary ideas. But also as passion for nostalgic time-traveling. Everyone wants to return to their youth at least for a moment. Inicia was one of my first designs (hence the name) from the mid-eighties. The original drawing was never finished because there were too many similar typefaces around. After three decades the shapes of the old designs suddenly became tempting to finish. Now restored and completed at Storm Type Foundry.

Song style typefaces originated in the age of woodblock printing in Song Dynasty. Being an essential Chinese type style for printing and publishing all since Ming Dynasty. Based on the Kaishu calligraphic script, its structure has evolved, regularised and standardised with thick stems (豎), thin horizontal strokes (橫) and triangular finials. Dots (點), hooks (勾) and downstrokes retained some features of calligraphy, hence an appropriate choice for continuous reading. The typeface is equipped with a variety of stroke weights, all highly legible .

Hibagon is the Japanese equivalent of the Yeti from the Himalayas, or Bigfoot from North America. It is usually sighted on Mt. Hiba (Hiroshima prefecture), hence the name. I have never seen Hibagon myself, even though I have visited Hiroshima several times. Hibagon font is a nice, handpainted, all caps font with a mythical feel to it. It probably won’t scare you, but it will look good on anything that needs a bit of brushwork, or a bit of roughness.

Agile Sans is a contemporary humanist font family with classicist roots. Hence its name, Agile Sans suits many occasions from branding to publications, web and applications. Nogoom was inspired by the titles of Egyptian Magazine ALOSTUDIO, which used to be published during the 50s-60s. The typeface is part of Arsheef Alkhatt Project, a platform that revives and tributes classical Arabic lettering from different resources and presents them as affordable, digital fonts for independent designers. Nogoom means stars in Arabic, hence the name. Note: The font uses an Opentype feature for the connections that are not supported by MyFonts tester, but it works properly with all Adobe CS softwares.

Pax is clearly a didone, using Vox classification. The contrast between the thin lines and the thicker ones is noticeable, as you would expect from a didone. The basic form is relatively narrow, therefore I designed another Pax, slightly wider and darker, and called it Pax #2. Otherwise they are more or less identical. Pax is Latin for peace, on everyone's want list in 1995 - as well as every single year before and after that. Pax was released in 1995.

The name of the font is taken from the concept "Littoral zone" - this is the part of the sea that is close to the shore. The width of the shore varies as a result of the tides. Hence the idea of my font family — changing the width of a character from condenced to extra expanded. Litto is a modern sans serif geometric font, includes upper and lower case characters, Latin and Cyrillic. Graphically, the characters have uniform thickness for all family.

PiS Wanderlust is inspired by specimens from the book „Die Schriften des Malers“ from 1950 and by vintage hand painted signposts and guides found on hikes in the outskirts of Vienna and rural Austria, hence the name Wanderlust! Although classic, constructed modernist it features some charmingly unfashionable quirks and is available in rounded for a smooth and warm feel. Lace up those hiking boots, don't forget to pack some Landjäger and cool drinks and enjoy the view from above the treeline!

Road Picture JNL was modeled after the hand lettered title and credits for the 1940 Bob Hope-Bing Crosby semi-musical comedy “Road to Singapore”, and is available in both regular and oblique versions. Although the lettering design doesn’t resemble anything that was probably used in Singapore at the time, its faux “exotic” look still makes for an interesting revival. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby made a total of seven “road” pictures, hence the homage in the name of this type font.

Originally, Viktor Solt-Bittner developed Attorney as a custom font for a law firm, hence its name. Attorney shows a systematic, yet unconventional placing of its serifs, hard corners and a clean design. The typeface was produced by Schriftlabor’s type director, Lisa Schultz. Attorney consists of 7 weights, from Light to Black, each of them accompanied by an italic, totaling in 14 styles. All of them contain several figure sets, small caps and many alternative forms, which are accessible by OpenType features.

Outside Voice is a handwritten, all-caps typeface, created as an homage to the robust history of handwritten protest signs. For many years I had repeatedly written names on certificates or designed texts for certificates of honor with a pen. I later digitized a font written with a broad pen from 1988 to make it easier to use. After the technical possibilities for this had developed, I made a PostScript font out of this document font. The "HGB-Unik" is a humanistic antiqua that arose from this written type. In 2009 Unik was chosen as the text font for a book. However, the book designers wanted to have an italic and a bold style as well. The cursive was developed from written texts that I also wrote for various occasions in the 1980s. The resulting font family was thoroughly revised several times until a usable text font with four weights was created. Although the Unik looks very idiosyncratic in display size, it shows a surprisingly balanced, pleasant typeface in read size.

Shizzle is a font with a graffiti marker style. The lettterform of ‘Shizzle’ essentially made by the combination of downward and upward stroke base on -15 degres angle guideline. The basic of downward stroke is pulling pen from the top left to thw bottom right with full width of marker, then the basic shape of upward stroke look like the ligh flick by using the tip of the pen from bottom right to the top left. Inspired by Hip Hop and Rap style style. ‘Shizzle’ is a slang way of saying "Sure". People generally use it to communicate agreement to another person. This term is a product of Snoop Dogg's penchant for replacing the end of words with "izzle" to sound cooler. And ‘Fo Shizzle’ (for sure) this font offers beautiful typographic harmony for a diversity of design projects, including logos & branding, social media posts and advertisements, especially with graffiti look.

Dallas Print Shop is a refined display collection of five styles and eight fonts. The fonts are designed to act together. They not only work great in pairs, all together, or even alone. Fastpen is a script typeface based on fast handwritten pen strokes. It has 4 weights, each emulates a pen/brush thickness (0.5mm, 1mm, 2mm and 4mm). It is meant to create a realistic handwritten look with a lot of contextual alternates that capture the quirks of writing. There are many substitutions happening automatically (make sure you activate “contextual alternates”) to give you the most seamless workflow. Collision fixes, initial and medial glyph substitution, happen automatically, terminal forms are also available but need to be activated separately. The fonts also have a built in stylistic set (ss01) if you want to type uppercase only text. Energetic, joyful, with long elegant ascenders and extravagant swash capitals. Each thickness can give slightly different feelings, from the thinest (0.5mm) very delicate one to the more impactful one (4mm). Fastpen has an extensive language support, so pretty much every European language is covered.

Handy Andy Andy Lethbridge had only just completed his graphic design BA at the University of Portsmouth when he was spotted by Jason, who’d seen Andy’s exquisite hand lettering at his degree show and on Instagram. Keen to push the handwritten theme further, having recently launched a digitally-created, chalky script font (FS Sammy), Jason offered Andy a job and the chance to develop a suite of more stylised, truly hand-drawn fonts. Andy duly got out his pads, pencils and pens, and started experimenting with styles and textures. Magic followed. Imperfection perfected Most ‘handwritten’ typefaces are created entirely digitally. Not FS Shepton. From the start, the intention was to create a collection of alphabets of similar character but different texture and style – 100% hand-drawn and purposely imperfect, with the kind of inconsistent, organic shapes and textures of market stall signs, dashed off in chalk or paint. FS Shepton Regular, drawn with a wet brush pen, is solid with a rough outer edge and a casual but controlled feel. The dry brush used to create FS Shepton Light gives it more inner texture and a more formal, slanted, calligraphic style. FS Shepton Bold, drawn using a wider, looser dry brush pen, has a woody grain in the middle of its broad strokes and greater solidity where the brush moves more slowly. Fresh as a daisy Think of FS Shepton not as a family of three weights of the same font so much as a collection of three fonts penned by the same author. All of them – the light, regular and bold – were created independently as display fonts that offer something different to labelling, packaging, point-of-sale and advertising. Lovingly crafted by hand, they’re a good match for products and settings that share the same artisinal qualities: organic foods, drinks and healthcare products, as well as premium chocolate, coffee and condiments.

This is a geometric uncial font with a retro/art-deco feel. It comes in four weights, each in upright and oblique styles. It has Unicode coverage for Latin, Greek (modern diacritics only), and Cyrillic, plus the Euro and peace signs. This font began as part of a project to design a local currency. Sadly, the municipality canceled the endeavor before the design competition had started. I'm including one of the prototypes in the gallery section as an example of this font’s many uses.

Kia ora is a M?ori-language greeting which is used as an informal greeting, equivalent to "hi" or "hello", or an expression of thanks. The koru (M?ori for loop or coil) is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling frond. It is an integral symbol in M?ori art, carving and tattooing, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. Its shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, while the inner coil suggests returning to the point of origin.

The sheet music for the 1934 tune "Two in A Dream" had the title hand lettered in a bold type style that utilized some stencil and some solid lettering. Following through on the stencil portion of the design, Tuxedo Stencil JNL was created in both regular and oblique versions. The 1930s were the era of elegant supper clubs and night spots, and it was not unusual to find gentlemen all decked out in formal wear for an evening on the town, hence the font's name.

Certiveid is a serif display font inspired by the history of peace in the Third Crusade (1189–1192). Therefore, with a modern classic touch and combined with some serif (pointed) ornaments that signify this font is sharp, dashing, and bold, This font also has complementary ornaments such as arrows sign, enclosed alphanumerics, fractions, and ligatures, which function as a complement to text works as well as in support as a design if needed. AccruedInterest is an all caps font with hollow letters, the outlines of which were roughly drawn with a calligraphic pen. The serifs are large and round. In a revision in 2019, the insides of the letters were separated out to allow easy bi-colored lettering when using layers. This inside style can also be used alone if one needs very sloppy and loosely-spaced text.

Samuel Welo’s “Studio Handbook – Letter and Design for Artists and Advertisers” was a go-to source of inspiration for generations of layout artists, graphic designers and sign painters. An interesting example of free-form pen lettering was found amongst the pages of one edition and it has now been recreated as a digital typeface called Nouveau Cartoon JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.
