The motivation for Jackipur was: to achieve more openness and thus more clarity. That's why I created more clarity in the structure of the letters in order to avoid formal ambiguities that arise especially with small degrees. I found it important to open up the round letters so that they are straight and horizontal along the center and baselines so that the eye can connect the letters directly and quickly. A simple font, but neither plain nor without elegance.

And the day in which I introduce my second typographic family has arrived. In order to do this, I borrowed several passages from this beautiful book by Maurice Maeterlinck, “Life and Flowers”. His poetic observation of Nature made me reflect about the small discoveries behind the flow of my pen on paper. About that quick, spontaneous, overwhelmed stroke, with some awkwardness as well as certainty in it. About the writing that looms line after line. About the mischievous stains of ink flooding my writing tool. Lady Dodó was born as a product of these drawings, pieces of writing and reflections. Following the steps of its ancestor and friend, Lady René, it takes advantage of the goodness of the Open Type technology to propose a systematized as well as a personalized writing font. Both friendly and challenging. Due to the large number of alternate characters (both for lower and upper case as well as for numbers) and to its precise programming, it proposes to design diverse and rich typographical sets with multiple strokes in a simple way. Treatise was born in a notebook at the back of a boring lecture on immunology with the simple thought of “How can I make a serif more fun?” When writing a scientific treatise, there are not many options for making it enjoyable. However, some little quirks and fun features in the font can take the serious edge off the writing.... Treatise is a light and open serif with some design quirks, which give it a slightly calligraphic feel; a single -storey “a” and “g,” a visible stroke mark on the “o,” and a curved arm on the “k.” These features are subtle enough to fit into a paragraph of text but bold enough to give a title some character. Georgia was originally designed in 1996 by Matthew Carter and hand-tuned for the screen by Tom Rickner. The Georgia family received a major update in 2011 by Monotype Imaging, The Font Bureau and Matthew Carter. Georgia is the serif companion to the sans serif screen font, Verdana. It was designed specifically to address the challenges of on-screen display with elegant yet sturdy and open forms. Raqmi was designed as a serif like font with relatively uniform glyph thicknesses, perfect simplified straight lines and curves, and emphasized isolated letters. This font family supports all Arabetic scripts covered by Unicode 6.1, and the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, including support for Quranic texts. It includes two weights: regular and light, each of which has normal and left-slanted Italic versions. Lapture is based on the Leipziger Antiqua by Albert Kapr, released in 1971 by the East German foundry Typoart. It has been extended and carefully redesigned by Tim Ahrens in 2002-05. The strong calligraphic characteristics are a result of the design process: "The size of the counters and the width of individual characters at small optical sizes were analysed with a steel pen while the letter shapes were designed in larger size with a specially trimmed reed pen. Sometimes the hand is more innovative than the head alone," says Kapr. A unique feature of this font is the introduction of gothic shapes into a latin typeface. "The basic concept is to string together narrow white hexagons as counters and inter-letter spaces, defined by vertical stems and triangular serifs. The interior spaces are at least as important as the strokes that make up the characters." Lapture is an ideal choice if a reference to gothic style is desired, as true black letter types are often too eye-catching and not as legible as latin fonts for unfamiliar readers. En esta edición, los tipos minúsculas son una adaptación “no oficial” para el Tipo Metro CDMX, enriqueciendo la tipografía a un estilo visual de altas y bajas, por lo que se prescinde del diseño base como trabajo propio para enfatizar los tipos minúsculas exclusivamente, además de que se han añadido algunos caracteres de acentuación extendiendo su uso a otros lenguajes. Los tipos son una nueva propuesta por Ixipcalli en el presente año 2023. In this edition, the lowercase types are an “unofficial” adaptation for the Tipo Metro CDMX, enriching the typography with a visual style of highs and lows, so the base design is dispensed with as my own work to emphasize the lowercase types exclusively, In addition, some accentuation characters have been added, extending their use to other languages. The types are a new proposal by Ixipcalli in the current year 2023.
