Since 2005, I have repeatedly attempted to create a neutral-looking grotesque with a humanistic character. I wanted a pleasant, soft typeface. The typeface should appear similar to Helvetica or Univers, but with more open shapes and therefore better readability. The features are deliberately reserved with 4 gradations plus italics. The onum feature for Old Style Figures contains additional alternative letters such as a looped g. The italics have a swash feature with some decorative shapes. As a sans serif, HGB Bacco does not appear to be technically constructed, but has a friendly, open character and is also suitable for longer texts.

Dexa Pro was designed by Ceyhun Birinci in 2020 with an inspiration to create a contemporary super family with inspiration from classic sans serif families. It's a workhorse family consisting of 72 fonts in condensed, narrow, normal and expanded widths. Each width has 18 fonts in thin to black weights, along with their true italic counterparts. With more than 770 glyphs per font, It offers a ton of language support from all the Latin languages to Cyrillic.

The letterforms for this unique face were found on a luggage tag designed by the Richter Studio of Milan in the 1930s; the treatment was suggested by a recent Dutch ad for the opening of a service garage. The meeting of the twain results in a three-dimensional delight. Various transitional elements can be found in the ASCII tilde, {brace}, dagger and double-dagger positions. Both versions of the font contain characters to support all major European languages.

Our main purpose while developing this typeface was to reconstruct, in the most precise way, the first ten plates of the “Arte de Escribir”, in a chapter named “Enseñanza de la letra italiana, y sus principales variaciones, autores, sistemas, &c.”, dedicated to the analysis of the Italian Script. We decided by this plates because those are the few that don’t refer, directly or indirectly, to any author in particular. We strongly believe that these plates reflect the freedom of his very own calligraphy and are closely related to the calligraphic style that was a success among the spanish calligraphers: the Spanish Bastarda.

Patricia Pothin-Roesch's Tendria typeface bases its letterforms on the logo for the French “Tendriade” mark. Clearly inspired by writing and hand lettering, Patricia Pothin-Roesch began her work on Tendria in Adobe Illustrator. Disruptor's Script is the alter ego of our previous project Gentlemen's Script. Unlike the Gentlemen's Script, the new font is an elegant rebel and defies traditions. The font is painted with a brush pen, which is especially noticeable in the characteristic shabbiness and different thicknesses of the strokes. While the Gentlemen's Script is an embodiment of a classic costume, dress shoes and an expensive watch, Disruptor's Script is a fashionable suit, sneakers, an iWatch and a tattoo that peeks from under the shirt. The font retained the incline, speed and overall sense of dynamics inherent in Gentlemen's Script, but got a bit more chaotic and unpredictable. This is especially noticeable in the newly added shabbiness, elongated extenders, a large number of contextual alternates and different ligatures. For some high-frequency letters (10 for the Latin alphabet and 10 for the Cyrillic alphabet), we painted alternative versions that are substituted in the word instead of the standard characters when following our preceding certain groups of letters. In addition, in the Disruptor's Script you can find functional ligatures, including some of the frequently occurring two- and three-letter combinations. All these solutions dilute the monotonous line of the set, add a bit of unpredictability to the font and a touch of chaos to inscriptions. To fully enjoy usage of the font, we recommend that you always keep the features contextual alternates (calt) and standard ligatures (liga) turned on. If you do not have access to applications that support OpenType features, it does not matter—even without these features you can use and enjoy our font!

Adso was born out of a research that studied the possibility of reintroducing Gothic writing in our contemporary world. Inspired by Textura, Adso was decidedly freed of all those little details that make Blackletter faces appear foreign or even displeasing to the contemporary reader’s eyes. Nevertheless, the basic features of Gothic color were preserved: verticality, modularity, and darkness. Adso is a gothic font for today’s age, highly readable and open to all fields of expression.

Space Rocks! A Retro Sci-Fi Font Inspired by 1950s Television Serials “Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! The next episode of Space Rocks is on tonight! What’s it about? Well, it’s all to do with this family of astronauts who crash land on Mars and how they survive all sorts of alien creatures and killer storms! The science is really real too! Who needs school!!!” And so goes the story of one young fan whose imagination is captured by the latest offering in a golden-age of TV science-fiction. A brand of 1950s programming that offered a light-hearted and optimistic view of the future full of exploration, discovery and hazardous adventure! Sometimes even a cautionary tale to live on in your nightmares! With Space Rocks I want to capture this vibe with an all-caps design inspired the opening titles of these shows, fully hand-drawn with a range of discretionary ligatures that add a comic (not atomic!) touch. The package includes Regular and Outlined (all hand-drawn) versions with a complete set of alternatives to help maintain the analogue look. This font also includes unique uppercase and lowercase characters, along with numerals, punctuation, language support, underlines and symbols. Night Train is a new font built from the ground up; while Night Train may resemble an old classic wood type there are a few lines that make this font a little more modern setting it apart from other wood type revivals. Watching the 2010 Olympic four man U.S. bobsled team win gold with their sled also called Night Train has inspired me to complete this font.

ROARRR! THE STYLES -Pantera Pro is the most complete style, and although its default look is mono-rhythmic it gets really playful and crazy like the examples of the posters by just activating the Decorative Ligatures button in the Open-type Panel of Adobe Illustrator. However, I recommend using also the Glyphs Panel because there you'll find much more variants per letter. Pantera Pro is in fact, coded in a way the combination of thicknesses will always look fantastic. -Pantera Black Left, and Pantera Black Right are actually “lite” versions of Pantera Pro: They have very little Open-Type code, so what you see here is what you get. Pantera Black Left has its left strokes thick, while Pantera Black Right has its right strokes thick. -Pantera White is a lovely member in this family that looks lighter and airy, hence its name. With the feature Standard Ligatures activated (liga) the font gets very playful. -Pantera Caps is based on sign painters lettering and since it follows the same pointed brush rules as the other styles, it matches perfectly. -Pantera Claws like its name suggests, is a set of icons that were done by our dear panther. THE STORY It is said that typography can never be as expressive as calligraphy, but sometimes it can get close enough. I tend to think that calligraphic trials, in order to work well as potential fonts, need first to go through very strict filters before going digital: While calligraphy is synonym of freedom (once its rules are mastered), type-design, in the other hand, has its battlefield a little tighter and tougher. When I practice pointed brush lettering, there are so many things happening on the paper. And most of them are delicious. The ones who know my work may see that although many of my fonts are very expressive, my handmade brush trials are much more lively than them. With that in mind, this time I tried to go further and rescue more of those things that are lost in the process of thinking type when first sketches are calligraphic. I wondered if I could create something wild, hence its name Panther, by understanding the randomness that sometimes calligraphy conveys and turning it to something systemic: With Pantera, I created an ordered disorder. Like it happens a lot in many kinds of lettering styles, in order to enrich the written word the scribe mixes the thickness of the strokes and the width of the letters. Like one of my favorite mentors say (1), they make thoughtful gestures Some lively strokes go down with a thick, while some do that with a thin. Some letters are very narrow, meaning some of them will need to be very wide to compensate. Why not?. The calligrapher is always thinking on the following letters, and he/she designs in his head the combination of thicks and thins before he/she executes them. He/she knows the playful rhythm the words will have before writing them. It takes time and skill to master this and achieve graceful results. Going back to the font, in Pantera, this combination of varying thicknesses and widths of letters were Open-Type coded so the user will see satisfactory results by just enabling or disabling some buttons on the glyphs panel. I'm very pleased with the result since it’s not very easy to find fonts which play with the words' rhythm like Pantera does, following of course, a strong calligraphic base. I believe that if you were on the prowl for innovative fonts, this is your chance to go wild and get Pantera! NOTES (1) Phrase by Yves Leterme. In fact, it’s the title of a book by him. First of all, I don’t have an uncle called Edward, nor do I know anyone by that name. When I had finished this font, it had a strong ‘Uncle Edward’ feeling to it, so the name stuck. Uncle Edward is a handmade script font. I used a Japanese brush pen and some rough paper to create that ‘vintage’ look. Use Uncle Edward for your book covers, your invitations or your product packaging. Create labels for your vintage record collection with it, or print a guest list for your Christmas dinner party. Uncle Edward gives you his blessing. Comes with ligatures for double letters and a whole bunch of accents.

Westin Black is a great alternative to Cooper Black. Heavily influenced by clarendon typefaces, Westin Black also has a slight humanistic touch. It comes with open type features like old style figures, tabular figures and some ligatures.
