Approach is a modern approximation to the early grotesques. An utilitarian low contrast font, a bit mechanic but plenty of character. One of its characteristic elements is a kind of ‘elbow pipe’ shape that is present in many letters like the tail of the a, f, j, t, R, Q or 1 among others. Besides, the synthetic punctuation and quotes give it a more contemporary appearance. Approach tries to feel fresh against all odds, being familiar but different. For more details see the PDF.

A ‘Leaden Sky’ is a dark grey sky without clouds. We don’t see too many of them here in Holland, as we usually have lots of clouds. Yesterday, however, the sky turned a sinister greyish green and it spewed out an an enormous amount of hailstones the size of walnuts. Leaden Skies is a handmade, all caps display font. I made it with a brush and Chinese ink. It comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case glyphs.

Gritty heat-forge stamped metally goodness. Can withstand up to 255 pounds of pressure psi, it even says so right on the graphic. This is a fun display font inspired by the stamped text on barbells, sewer drains, and of course boiler-plates, not that we see many of those anymore, but I digress... XRoomingHouse is a typeface of pictures that I did many years ago. Most of the pictures are border elements, and within a set they can be combined to make borders or frames. There is no real style consistency in the font—it is an eclectic collection of elements. (Minor corrections and additions were made in 2018 to improve sets that can form frames.
