Thermal is an exploration of balance and contrast. Combining the elegance of classical typography with the sharpness of contemporary design. It was conceived to be a variable font with two axes: weight & optical size, providing a wide range of options for texts & display applications. The regular and italic text weights breathe a warm atmosphere, their design inspiration is a relaxed interpretation of the work of 16th-century French type designer Robert Granjon, evoking a comforting rhythm and a sense of familiarity that makes reading enjoyable. On the other end of Thermal's design spectrum lie the extreme weights – thin and heavy –, specifically designed for larger sizes. These weights borrow stylistic cues from several distinct influences: the characteristic woodtype from the 19th century, the sharp lettering styles from the 70s, and the bold work of Oscar Ogg. One of Thermal's disctint features is its italic's 20° inclination, an significant inclination by all standards, this design choice finds its roots in the "Ascendonica Cursive" of 1571, but is a contemporary interpretation that generates a captivating contrast with the regular version. Thermal studies the past and analyzes the present to create a unique blend, bringing a dictint dichotomic identity.

If you take the South Shore Line from Chicago to South Bend, your train will pass though the small community of Beverly Shores, Indiana. The beautifully restored and highly colorful “Beverly Shores” train station sign not far from the Lake Michigan beach is the source of inspiration for this connecting script typeface. The sign’s existing ten letters have now been extended to include the entire alphabet. This old-fashioned depot letterstyle is much in the spirit of such faces as Fulton Sign and Inserat Cursive. Ascenders and descenders have been lengthened and capitals are now much larger. Alternate lowercase swashes, capitals, and small figures have been included for your convenience. And custom uphill words such as “The,” “for,” and “to” have been added for more novelty and spark in headline settings. Beverly Shores Script with Alternates is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters including old style figures have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. Karim is a traditional-style Arabic text face, designed in response to a demand for a traditional text face adapted to setting Quranic commentaries. Within the constraints of the standard character set and typesetting program, Karim’s design aims to recall the style and fluency of manuscript Naskh without, however, reproducing the idiosyncrasies of any particular calligrapher. The line weight chosen is heavier than usual for a traditional light face in order to benefit the reproduction of small size Tafsir text. A tall kaf, deep descenders and slightly inclined alifs and lams all help to suggest the cursiveness of manuscript. The type-style that emerges is characterized by restraint and clarity; qualities suited to Karim’s original purpose, and ones that recommend it for wider use. Karim ships includes Latin glyphs from Janson Text Roman, allowing the single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages. Coal Brush is a bit of a misleading name. It looks as though it was made with a brush, but it was, in fact, made with a almost dried out old marker pen. But a font named ‘dried out old marker pen’ doesn’t really fly, so I decided to pimp the name. There you have it, you can’t even trust an honest typographer! Marker pen or brush, Coal Brush is a very sweet little font. It is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and can be mixed freely. Plus there’s a hidden stash of alternates for the lower case letters and an alternate ampersand! I actually threw that in to make up for my lie. So, use it for your books, your posters, your rap albums, rock operas, grilled food restaurants and designer BBQ sauces. It’s yours for the taking!

A ‘Brochette’ in French is a skewer. I used to be a tour guide and some years ago, I guided a couple of tours in Mali. Every night at dinner we had the choice of a ‘Brochette de Capitaine’ (grilled Nile perch on a skewer) or a ‘Brochette de Bœuf’ (grilled beef on a skewer). Of course, every night the Brochette came with French fries and ‘petits pois’ (peas). It was really nice, but after 4 months of eating Brochettes, I longed for something different! Brochette is a very nice rounded font. It comes with curls, swirls and swashes.
