Star Ornaments are seen as a long standing companion to many wood type poster layouts. During many years I have been exploring the translation from lettering or calligraphy to type design. Lately I have been designing more big sans and serif families plenty of weight. One of the main things about Hopfen is to bring back the german lettering of Bentele, who also inspired my fonts Semilla and Bowling Script, to a more versatile and useful world. Hopfen has the spirit from the past but with today's flow, it comes in 5 weights, full of swashes, endings and alternates. We imagine it being used from Breweries to book covers, from packaging to movie posters but we prefer to let our costumers to find the better use. The Killegar family is inspired by one of the great houses of Ireland...Killegar—which is on the grand Estate of Killegar. I lived there for many years. It is a quiet and peaceful place surrounded by lakes and trees and is inspirational in so many ways. All of my creative talents were boosted by this amazing two hundred year old building with all of it's secrets and heritage. Time stood still in Killegar....except for me and my modern day computers, cell phones and fax machines. This twist of fate, with me living both a rural and hi-tech life, living in an environment of the early 18th century, with the friendliest local people on the Earth, played it's part in the origin of the Killegar family of fonts. This font contains plant icons from the taxonomic category Orchidaceae, inspired by the multiple specimens that can be found in Colombia that has the largest number of orchids in the world, more specifically in the specimens that have been exposed on the José Celestino Mutis botanical garden. These icons are characterized by having an organic outline; representing flowers, roots, leaves, bulbs and different supports or pots. The vast majority of icons have perfect bilateral symmetry because this is one of the differential characteristics of orchids (compared to other flowers), if they are divided by a central-vertical axis, their right and left sides are practically identical. “Aguadija” can be used in projects related to nature or similar topics, some icons (specifically the digits) are intended to form decorative ribbons or borders.

Stanzer is an interpretation of wood type combined with the idea of modern stencils. Instead of cutting every letter, we are presenting an example of how a modern stencil typeface could look like, as we have come to the conclusion that almost every letter works without cutting it. Stanzer is a Unicase typeface, available in three OpenType weights: Black, Shadow and Block. Stanzer first started as part of our diploma 2010 (it was called Stanley at that time). The basic idea behind this typeface is that it is fully stencil usable, and, unlike other stencil fonts, does not require any bridges (except for the O and Q). Almost every letter can be sprayed without inserting planks. However, Stanzer also offers the display weight Block, which is only suitable for print or online usage.

Gia is 7 weights, true small caps and unicase options, designed after iconic letterforms of the 1960’s to 1980’s. In the early years of the American tech revolution, when Silicon Valley was more closely identified with Dallas, Texas, a curious type of letterform began to appear—strict in geometry, and curiously minimal in geometry and stroke, making it easier to be read by machine-readers, and people more used to reading machine-generated typography. Coders! As the years went on, this kind of sinewy, curved letterform began popping up in logotypes and music videos and upright video games: NASA, The Buggles, Atari, Pong, Sega, Namco, Stern, Devo, Apple. Gia pays homage to that letterform, and is named after Gia Carangi, the iconic face of early 1980’s pop fashion.

Electrostatic JNL was inspired by the 1930s lettering for radio station WMCA in New York City. It was found as part of an ad for the station in a 1932 radio broadcasting trade magazine. WMCA went on the air Feb. 6, 1925. According to Wikipedia, the "MCA" call letters stood for the Hotel McAlpin, where the station's original studio and transmitter were located. "W" is the call sign prefix for all broadcast stations East of the Mississippi River; with the exception of KDKA (Pittsburgh), which was the nation's first commercial radio station. This bold novelty typeface with lightning bolds intersecting the characters can be used to represent anything from electricity to stormy days; power generators to brute force and so forth. In the early 1960s, the German Master Printers’ Association requested that a new typeface be designed and produced in identical form on both Linotype and Monotype machines so that text and technical composition would match. Walter Cunz at Stempel responded by commissioning Jan Tschichold to design a new version of Claude Garamond’s serene and classical Roman. Its bold, and particularly its italic styles are limited by the requirements of Linotype casting machines, forcing the character widths of a given letter to match between styles, giving the italic its characteristic narrow f. The family’s name is taken from Jacques Sabon, who introduced Garamond’s Romans to Frankfurt. Sabon has long been a favorite of typographers for setting book text, due to its smooth texture, and in large part because Tschichold’s book typography remains world famous.
