  5. Bellas Artes by Sudtipos, $59.00
Bellas Artes is what happens when the brush of Angel Koziupa and the technical expertise of Alejandro Paul go face to face with the Art Deco aesthetic. The recognizable Koziupa curves become players of a game of halves, where there is no such thing as a better half, but both sides complete each other like in that perfect romance you will never forget. Bellas Artes is an excellent choice not only for packaging design, but also for book and music covers meant for the feminine demographic, collateral of classical taste, and of course pre-WWII visuals.

A very unique graphic typeface with a dynamic character that works well for titles, headings, and other lines of text that need to grab your attention. This is a typeface that is sure to leave an impression. One that will make people stop, take pause, and maybe even ponder the meaning of life as they study its intricacies. 10. Dominant Type by Hanoded, $15.00
We’re in a lockdown of sorts (again) and things are pretty … uhm … boring at the moment. No going out for a coffee, no school (so the kids are at home), no meeting with friends… The new reality kinda sucks if I say so myself. Besides that, it turns out that we have a new dominant type of Covid in Holland.. wait, Dominant Type! Ahh, great name for my latest font! Dominant Type is a handmade all caps font. It comes with extensive language support (including Vietnamese) and 2 sets of alternate glyphs for that bit of ‘random awesomeness’!
  11. JesusLovesYouAll by LucasFonts, $19.00
Almost every type designer feels the need, from time to time, to interrupt his or her serious work on complex text type systems for something more playful. In Luc(as)'s case this has often meant designing more typefaces. In the early 1990s, while working on Thesis, Luc(as) drew several display faces which were based on the shapes of TheSans but were either de(con)structive versions or experimental variations. Jesus Loves You All is a heretic thorny typeface vaguely based on the outlines of TheSans. Jesus Loves You was given a remarkable three-dimensional treatment in Abbott Miller's Dimensional Type project.
  12. Plantain by CastleType, $49.00
Plantain Stencil is based on Plantain which in turn is my interpretation of Plantin Adweight, which was one of my first commissioned projects (by Smarter Image, long before they went bankrupt). Plantin Adweight is one of the most beautiful designs of the Plantin family, which is a modern revival typeface, cut under the direction of F. H. Pierpont in 1913, who based the design on that of a famous 16th century printer, Christophe Plantin, for whom Pierpont’s font was named. The stencil cut of Plantain adds a bit of sparkle to the design. Supports most European languages that use the Latin alphabet.
  13. Linotype Zensur by Linotype, $29.99
Linotype Zensur is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font was created by French designer Gérarld Alexandre and contains one weight. The characters look as though parts of each of them were censored or removed, leaving just enough left over to know what was meant. The basic forms of this font are sans serif and the rounded corners give it an almost soft character. Linotype Zensur is a distinctive typeface which is especially good for headlines in larger point sizes.
  14. Zirkle by Ingrimayne Type, $9.00
Zirkle is a monoline font in which the upper-case letters were designed from circles or bits of circles, with interior straight lines. It was the first font I designed in Fontographer when Fontographer was still in version 2 and the most advanced Macintosh was the Macintosh II. I have heard from people who like it, but it was designed not to meet some need but to play with the geometry of circle-based letters. ZirkStressed is a “squared” version that was the result of playing with a font distortion program, which in this case produced a result that seemed interesting.
  15. Goudy Stout CT by CastleType, $49.00
This face was recommended to me by Mark Solsburg, president of FontHaus. At first I was a bit reluctant to revive it, if for no other reason than Frederic Goudy’s admission that he created this design “in a moment of typographic weakness.” However, I put the sample that Mark sent me up on my bulletin board, and over a period of time, it grew on me. It finally got to the point that I had to recreate the face, and from the response that I’ve gotten, I’m glad I did! Uppercase only with numerals and punctuation.
  16. Grand Cru by Fenotype, $25.00
Meet Grand Cru – a new approach to serif type. The type family is divided to three groups – Small, Medium and Large – according to the amount of contrast in letterforms. All Grand Cru fonts come with thoughtful Open Type features – built-in small capitals are found in all of them, while the italics come with handsome Swash capitals. The romans are equipped with intelligent numeral styles including subscript and superscript and fractions.
