I really can’t tell you why I called this font Funky Flamingo. Normally I name fonts after something I see or do, but I don’t have a special thing for flamingoes, nor do I keep them in my backyard. This font is based on a lot of the downtempo culture in Paris. Smoky bars, jazz clubs, that sort of thing. How a font can be influenced by intangibles is a question that I can't quite answer, but I can say that when I created it, it strongly reminded me of a couple of times spent in Paris back in the mid-90s.

Vow is an incredibly stylised font, strutting its stuff on the typography catwalk. Vow does everything to excess, even when cutting down: where it’s curvy, it’s very curvy, but where it’s thin, it’s thin. GummiType is a wildly wobbly and clumsy gummy/jelly style letter font. This was a weird typeface that I originally designed back in 2000 but never finished it. Coming across it again recently, I thought it would be a fun font family to get out there. Perfect for a range of designs that require a spooky or gooey-gooey typestyle. Sometimes the inspiration for my typefaces comes from random everyday things, and this is the perfect example of that. My daughter is addicted to those little peach gummy rings and gummy worms, and gummy anything, but it was my own prior addiction to gummy peach rings that inspired this font. Pulling and distorting the ring sparked the inspiration for the droopy warped characters.

I have created the brush font named “ BrushType Michiko” in my unique brush style. This is wider than “BrushType Standard ”. I made it for ad designers. CyberNippon is a unique latin script font that references Japanese and Cyberpunk motifs. Literal translation of the name "Cyber ​​Japan" This typeface took many months to complete and was inspired by the style and mood of cyberpunk, for whom Japanese culture is very close. Since the Japanese are inherent in perfectionism, while working on this font, I brought everything to perfection. The result of all the work was, in my opinion, a font that was perfectly verified and worked out for many hours. The main motives that are visible in this work are the modern interpretation of the classic Japanese hieroglyphic systems - hiragana and katakana. Originally, the font was completely handwritten using a calligraphic pen, and then converted to digital format.

I only had this bouncy curve and a photograph of a daily menu (Truite Meunière) I took outside an obscure Paris restaurant when starting the design of this font. But while working on it I suddenly started thinking about Jacques Tati the famous but almost forgotten french director of Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, Jour des Fêtes, Mon Oncle, Playtime, Trafic etc. I thought about his bouncy walk and his hilarious ideas. The memories never left me while working on the font, so I decided to name the font after this great French moviemaker who gave me so many happy hours.
