Nevins Hand is our first release of a new collection of fonts based on the designs of Peter Nevins, a San Francisco poster artist who does hand-lettered fonts in the Art Nouveau tradition.

"I digitized and to revitalize NurnbergSchwabacher by the extinct Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei, a German/Swiss foundry established in 1790 and based in Basel/Münchenstein. Many of its shares were acquired by D. Stempel in 1927. On the Luc Devroye site this foundry is listed on the Extinct Foundries of the 18th century page. This design is very similar to another Intellecta best seller: Hostetler Fette Ultfraktur Ornamental, both drawn from the classical type specimen book from Hostetler. The ornamental frame that completes the font is a fantastic baroque ornament that I found in another old book, unfortunately lost now. Luc Devroye, whose book is the source for all of my fonts, writes this about Rudolf Hostettler: He was a Swiss type designer, author of “The Printer’s Terms” designed by Jan Tschichold, of "Technical Terms of the Printing Industry" (5th edition was printed in 1995), and of "Type: eine Auswahl guter Drucktypen; 80 Alphabete klassischer und moderner Schriften" (Teufen, Ausser-Rhoden: Niggli, 1958). He also wrote "Type: A Selection of Types" (1949, fgm books, R. Hostettler, E. Kopley, H. Strehler Publ., St. Gallen and London) in which he highlights type made by European houses such as Haas, Enschedé, Deberny and Nebiolo. Jost Hochuli wrote his biography.

Along with the regular width, all weights also have extended and condensed versions. Stylistically, Eurostile Next is well suited for designs in the fashion of the 50's and 60's, yet it still has a remarkably new and contemporary feeling. This "Leaf" font has been swirling in my head for years - I remember my sister and I making letter formations like these when I was young. It was exciting to see the lettering look even better on paper than it did in my mind! "Leaf" surprised me by having two distinct looks: in size 24 or smaller, the look is delicate, because your eye doesn't see any space in the letters. In size 28 or larger, the eye can discern spaces, which gives a different facet to its personality. As much as I like this font when viewed on a monitor screen, it really shines when printed. The "Leaf" font is a perfect blend of quaint hand-written style mixed with crisp letter formations. This font has a very "happy" quality to it. May using it bring a little more happiness to your day!

A clean, smooth rendition of the magnificent B42-type used by Johann Gutenberg in his famous 42-line Bible. In addition to the usual standard characters for typesetting modern texts, the font includes a comprehensive set of special characters, alternates and ligatures, plus Opentype features, that can be used for typesetting (almost) exactly as in Gutenberg’s Bible and later incunabula. Also available as The Oldtype “Gutenberg C” Font in a slightly roughened style simulating irregularities and ink spreads associated with old metal types, papers and parchments. A new font inspired by vintage hand-painted paper grocery store signs. The Doorbuster Collection is based on retro hand-painted paper signs primarily seen in grocery stores from the 1920s through the 1970s. We meticulously hand-drew each font, modeling the spacing and uneven baseline found in vintage sign painting. The purposely organic ascenders and descenders, along with a huge set of ligatures/contextual alternates to avoid the same letters repeating when paired, give it a real hand-lettered look. Digitised, designed and expanded by Jeremia Adatte with Małgorzata Bartosik from original source material and typeface specimens. Desk Job JNL is an Art Deco-influenced typeface based on hand lettering found on the packaging of a vintage Hotchkiss No. 52 stapling pliers. The typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Creeps is based on a series of drawings by Britton Walters. You can't escape the Creeps, they are everywhere! Be they looking at you funny on the bus or telling you about their collection of chicken bones in the break room at work. There is a little creep in us all.

Ramkoers means ‘Collision Course’ in Dutch. I made this font with a bit of salvaged plastic and thick black paint. I carved a wedge out of the plastic and used it as a spatula to apply the paint to the paper. Ramkoers is a bit of a rough & ready grunge font with some jagged edges and wobbly stems. Comes with an abundance of diacritics.

Aglio was developed from letterforms originally painted by muralist/artist Tanya Zabinski. Aglio maintains the character of bold brushstrokes with random gaps and marks, and there are flourishes of articulated endstrokes. A twice-painted sign in Tobago's back country was the seed for this weird grab-bag of chunky, slightly sleazy letterforms.

A playful caricature of a midcentury grotesque, Guzzo is a fresh addition to the Monotype Library. Somewhat eccentric and full of surprises, its unmistakable quirk can be found on closer inspection, stemming from details proudly borrowed from brush lettering and calligraphy. The wide range of weights and style can take you through any design space, from the condensed weights squeezing in larger headlines or dense blocks of text with the condensed range, to experimenting with small point sizes, labels or packaging with the extended cut. However, Guzzo’s real charm is probably best expressed through its wonderfully playful shapes, its unusual 'laid-back italics' feature cursive forms and a backslant. DonJulio is a handwritten most-of-the-time connecting script, that dates back to the 1930s in Germany. We tried to keep it as true to the original as possible, conserving the shaky and uneven appearance of those days. DonJulio can be mixed together with its very embellished sister font Donna Julia.

This font contains the traditional long s which can be accessed by either the OT feature historical alternatives or by typing [alt] + b. Two framing elements can be reached by typing [alt] + shift + p and [alt] + p respectively.

AZ Hello Brushed font was inspired from old auto repair signs. This font utilizes an "old look" to the line work which is designed to have a "worn feel" to it. It is designed to compliment it's sister font; AZ Hello. Ideal for use as headline or sub-head text in you design.

Gold Standard got its start from a few letters found on an old Gold Certificate from 1882. From those few letters spelling out the word GOLD, the rest of the alphabet was designed to match. The lowercase design was based on lettering found on an old silver certificate from approximately the same year.

Labyrinthus Rounded is a multiline decorative font that works very well for identity logos, posters and 3D-works. It continues the tradition of the precedent Labyrinthus but with a softer rounded impact. It's interesting to note that with it it's possible to play with the multiline concept to create endless overlapping geometric creations.

Not inspired by any one thing, Candy Randy came about as an attempt to capture the feel of hours spent aimlessly perusing childrens' advertising and packaging from the early 1960s. It always reminds me a bit of Christmas and was named after an imaginary character in tales told to my youngest sister.
