GRUND is a new fontographic adaption of a remarkable 1920s epigraphical find in the city of Leipsic. This old well-known European trade fair hotspot struggled with a severe shortage of exhibition space around 1920. The solution was to dig deeper into the matter – literally – and 1924 the world’s first underground trade fair exhibition hall was opened right under the city’s central market square. After several changes of use during the past decades the sophisticated Art Deco entrance structure (architect: Otto Droge) was re-opened in December 2013 as a gateway to a new subway rail track. – The original brass lettering of the UNTERGRUNDMESSHALLE MARKT has been retrieved – and served as the inspiration for this new and unique font. The current design of "iogen" is a result of years of alterations since it's original concept was born in 2010 and it needed a hallmark to make it authentic. The idea of "a typeface speaking pleasantly" is the basis on which "iogen" is constructed. Hereby, the letter forms are based on sharp directional changes and curved vertical strokes, allowing it to speak clearly and pleasantly. The sharp corners, open apertures and open counters of iogen also ensure legibility in smaller sizes. The Iogen family has 6 members with 3 basic weights with sans and serif styles. The handwriting typeface Escritura was created for editorial purposes and the letter forms are influenced by chancery handwriting from the Italian Renaissance. The asymmetrical shapes of the undulating serifs cause the characters to have a large aperture. Originally designed for display sizes, the typeface also comes in a text version for small sizes. With taller vertical proportions, the text version has slightly longer serifs and increased white space between the characters to optimize legibility in small sizes. Ascenders and descenders and serifs are shorter in the display version, which has more economical letter spacing resulting in a visually compact text image. The stress in the letter strokes create changing widths according to their direction, improving the calligraphic rhythm in the characters. The oblique crossbar as well as other typographic details lend the typeface that typical Renaissance atmosphere.

Fanya is a modern calligraphy design, including Regular. This font is casual and beautiful with swash. A vintage look layered label font named "Quick or Dead". This font was inspired by American wild west history. The family includes six styles (including effect styles), for sample look at preview. This font will good viewed on any retro design like poster, t-shirt, label, logo etc. For using effects layers: - Type your text in Regular. - Copy that and paste at the same position. - Change the style to Shadow or Texture. Alternates and catchwords: - Capital letters are different than small (look to the preview). - Several small letters have alternates (look to the preview). - For the catchwords type the word (for sample 'with'), select that and turn on 'Discretionary Ligatures' on the 'OpenType' tab. Or paste it from 'Glyphs' tab in any place on your text. This in Illustrator. In Photoshop 'Discretionary Ligatures' you can find in the menu Type - OpenType.

My pet peeve for many years has been with the 'rn' in small texts, especially with my smart phone. I felt that perhaps others may have the same peeve. I decided to try and fix that with Atlantica. As you can see in poster No. 4. "With the combination of 'rn' in small text it tends to appear as 'm'. Therefore it may be read as 's t e m' instead of 's t e r n'. Altalntica has an alternate 'rn'. By invoking the < Contextual-Alternate > feature. Atlantica will replace each 'rn' - or you may individually change them if you desire". Also note the deep cuts to help legibility for smaller texts. This combination apparently does not appear in many words, but when it does it can suggest a different word as in; eastern, stern, tarnish, Tornado, Turn and in some names as well.

My name is Teruyoshi Matsui. I am a Brush Art Designer. My foundry ‘Brush Art Design Office’ is situated at the foot of an active volcano ‘ Mt. Aso ’ in the Kumamoto Prefecture, the southern part of Japan. I design the letters of the alphabet with a Japanese brush. I have created the brush font named ‘ Lethal Fake ’ in my unique brush style. At the beginning of making the font I was going to name it ‘BrushType Lethal’ and tell you, “ Be careful using it. That’s because it ’s Lethal ”. But actually I was very disappointed when it was finished. I tried to make it lethal, but it was not. So I changed the font name into ‘ Lethal Fake ’. This time I have to say to you, “ Be careful using it. That’s because it’s not Lethal ”. Thank you.

The 1990s was a time of creativity, experimentation and exploration into the world of digital typography by amateur and professional alike. Ray Larabie [through his Larabie Fonts] offered dozens upon dozens of wide-ranging (and often most unusual) freeware fonts. Ray was the driving force of encouragement and a behind-the-scenes “mentor” who helped Jeff Levine Fonts get underway in January of 2006. As his focus changed to high-quality commercial type with the launch of Typodermic, Inc., many of Ray’s “less than perfect” font experiments were withdrawn. He eventually turned those typefaces into a bundled zip archive released into the public domain through Creative Commons. “Webster World” resembles a fusion of Techno and Western styles. With Ray's permission, the original characters have been cleaned up and re-made as Space Traveler JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Cherubina means ‘Blessed’. It is a name derived from the Akkadian “karabu / kuribu”, meaning “blessing, blessed”. A cherub is a type of spiritual being mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, often depicted as a baby with wings. This font was based on the hand lettering I found on a 1962 Japanese poster for the movie “Mother Joanna Of The Angels”. The poster was designed by Hiroyoshi Oshima. Cherubina font is an all caps font (upper and lower case differ and can be used together) with a medieval feel to it. I tried to keep the ‘spirit’ of Hiroyoshi Oshima’s lettering, but changed the glyphs and designed most of them myself, as I had nothing but the title of the poster to work with. I have added some ligatures as well. Comes with my blessing and an eternity of diacritics.

At first glance, the lettering style of Technopen JNL seems to emulate the computer-age fonts of the 1980s. In actuality, this font is derived from an alphabet sample found in an instructional booklet for the Esterbrook Drawlet Pens. The Drawlet line was Esterbrook's answer to the iconic Speedball pen points sold through their chief competitor, the Hunt Pen Manufacturing Company. So, what seems to be late 20th Century typography is actually from vintage source material. In fact, the entire contents of the instructional booklet were copyright 1929! A few minor changes were made to the original A-Z alphabet and additional characters were added. The name Technopen is a shortening of the term 'technical pen', which is both a nod to the techno age of the 80s and the technical instruments of the past utilized for drawing and lettering.

A slab serif Mr Palker and grotesque Mr Palkerson build one superfamily together.  These are blank types. In a way even the display ones. Typefaces for newspapers, announcements, cheap advertising and police posters.  Mr Palker and Mr Palkerson will turn every language into a fence. And due to six types of faces one can choose what material should the fence be made from — from Thin steel rods to   the Black stone blocks. In their simplest appearance Mrs P&P are  intended for the solid blank composition in victorian or industrial style. They are quite decent, a bit old-fashioned slab serif and grotesque with closed aperture. All my types have layers. Walker and Palkerson also do. Besides the standard set of symbols, they have 4 add-ons. 1. Alternate glyphs, including unicase ones. 2. Ligatures with A letter. 3. Extra tall small caps. 4. Two-storey ligatures. All this options are intended for the complex composition. The additional letters are rather eccentric as their main function here is to imitate the victorian oddities. Imitate, parody, just not repeat. There are lower-case As and Es in the set in height of small caps and uppercases. They can turn every writing into the unicase.    The lower-case A (as well as uppercase and small caps version of it) has deliberately by my taste grown a ludicrous tail. To compensate it I’ve built all the possible ligatures - ад, ал, ая. There are 35 of this ligatures all together. Take a closer look at the Russian letters D, L, K, Ya from the main set as well as their alternates. The additional glyphs are one more comic than the other — on purpose to imitate (not to repeat!) the victorian set. This sets have lowercase numbers. And small caps numbers as well. What a modern typeface without them. They also have an У-letter with a generously curvy tail. As if before the WWI. The Latin of course has alternates as well. It has letters to make the perfect French sound more like the russian provincial version of it. The tails of Js and Ts can be made a little bit more open — or a little bit closed. My favorite feature here, an invention of a kind - extra tall small caps. It allows to compose logos with the small caped uppercases directly from the keyboard. The small caps of this typefaces are usually much taller than the customary ones. This is the kind of small caps that Palker and Palkerson have. More to that, the strokes’ weight and the letters width are corresponded to the uppercases. Just a ready set for making a logo a la 1913 style. With a unicase, one has to mind! One more trick with the tall small caps is a possibility to make them work like lower uppercases. Their height is just in between of lower- and uppercases. Isn’t it great to have an additional set of uppercase working ponies in stock for the case of emergency. And finally — the trademark of Palkers family, two-storey ligatures. They are made in the height of uppercases and turn every writing into an ornament or a puzzle of a kind, while at the same time making them much shorter. Each face has 90 of them. Mainly those are twins: CC, BB, DD and so on. ll this things are for the unhasty compositing, even for lettering. Which means that for the things which are not there you always should have Command+Option+O and some patience. Also — among the two storey ligatures one also can find some belvedere villas. All my types are glasses from the one kaleidoscope. Inspired by the iconic modernist letterforms in the poster for Stephen Sondheim's 1972 musical Company, Another Hundred People is a gleeful set of solid geometric glyphs — as though a set of Colorforms decided to express itself in words. In addition to its lowercase and caps (which don't share a baseline with the lowercase, but hang below it), Another Hundred People has solid alternates (for those who don't like the divided letterforms) and overlapping ligatures! Part of the Ampersand Forest's Sondheim Series.

Rolphie can be your go-to sans-serif, with 16 easy-to-read weights and 10 versions for each weight, and the subtlety of choice that represents. The versions contained in each weight are: Regular; Condensed; Half-Condensed; Expanded; Small Capitals: and their italic counterparts. (At heavier weights particularly it seemed to be justified to have two Condensed versions). Plus there's 20 funky versions with the letters all shook up (that would make a good title for a song), or jumbled around, plus some Shadow, Doubled-Up, College, and other FX versions. In total there's 180 variations, giving a comprehensive selection of both standard and funky fonts, and that subtle degree of choice of weight. To make things easier, the weights are put in ascending numerical order from 01 to 16, and the FX versions have been stuck in the 80s and 90s, (like two musicians I know). Much will depend on what your software recognises. The Small Caps versions have (intentionally) lost the ligatures for lower case ff, fi, fj, fl, fr, fu, ffi, ffj, ffl, ffr, ffu. The names for the weights are not absolute - we had to make up some names to make them stretch out to sixteen - so rather - see them as relative to each other, being in ascending numerical order by weight.

Earlier this year I visited a bakery in Newport Beach, CA and fell in love with the organic design and typography of the place. Hand-drawn menus, table cards, chalkboards, and wall quotes surrounded the charming spot. It inspired me to create a new font family based on the combination of hand drawn fonts. Quidic is an unusual display typeface. The upper-case letters are strongly vertical, condensed, and bold. Used by themselves, they make headlines and titles that stand out. The lower case letters do not have serifs similar to those on the upper-case letters, but rather have the serif shapes one expects from an italic style. The lower-case is also quite short compared to the upper-case letters. The italic styles of the family are unusual because the lower-case letters keep their shapes and the upper-case letters and numbers change. The family has three styles that differ more by width rather than by weight. Although some Bauhaus fonts have several letter shapes that are similar, there is no other typeface quite like Quidic.
