Inspired from ancient Celtic lettering such like insular-half-uncial. New interpretation of Celtic letters bring a whole new feel to old letterings. At the same time, the font has handwritten-style glyphs as if they were handwritten same as the ancient letters.

Modesto Initials had existed as a single font for several years. I recently added a fill font to put color in the Inlines. The Inline font still works by itself. The Fill font works alone too, as an ultra Modesto on steroids. They work best together. Modesto is a loose-knit family based on a signpainters lettering style popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. It evolved from the lettering I used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Logo. The Modesto family was not planned. It just happened, a few fonts at a time over about fifteen years. Franca is a neo-grotesk family in nine weights plus matching italics. The inspiration for the design came through the constant interest in new interpretations of the classic grotesk model and a study of "neutral“ typefaces like Helvetica, Univers or Normal Grotesk. During the studies, additional attention was given to the American representatives of the genre, resulting in the initial impetus for a reinterpretation, combining both paths into one contemporary design. This is reflected in the name, blending together the names of the most popular typefaces of each genres, (Fran)klin and Helveti(ca). Teo Tuominen’s Trevor took its first breath as a revival of an 18th century antiqua, but culminated in an entirely new and good-natured family. Trevor is an affable slab serif in nature: both heavy and kind. Known for their familiarity and their dark colour, the terminals of slab serifs put additional weight along the line to maintain an inky presence. Their clunky forms reveal slight immaturity and arouse the reader’s sympathy for the subject at hand. Trevor connects with others by consciously riding the line between being personal and commanding. Our eye is able to join missing parts of worn letters back into undisturbed shapes. We tend to see things better than they really are. Thanks to this ability we ignore faults of those close to us as we can’t accept the fact that every once in a while we convene with an impaired entity. Typography is merely a man’s invention, hence imperfection and transience, albeit overlooked, are its key features. This typeface is based on worn-out letterings on tombstones in the St. Croce basilica in Florence. For hundreds of years, microscopic particles of marble are being taken away on the soles of visitors: the embossed figures become fossilised white clouds, fragments of inscriptions are nearing the limits of legibility. First missing are thin joins and serifs, then the main strokes finally slowly diminish into nothingness over time. Unlike an archaeologist, for whom even completely featureless stele is valuable, the typographer must capture the proper moment of wear, when the type is not too “new” but also not too much decimated. Such typeface is usable for catalogue jackets, invitations and posters. Calligraphy is a natural human trait. To write is to create characters of reasonable beauty and content, according to the nature of the writer. A natural characteristic of architecture is to create an aesthetic message very similar to the alphabet. A doric column, the gabled roof, the circle of the well plan: these are the basic shapes from which all text typeface is derived.

Zest is an informal brush script drawn with quick, thick brush strokes. While it is based on everyday handwriting, the expansive and easy flow of the script hides the care that has been given to the crafting of each character. In style it harks back to the hey-day of American lettering and calligraphy, yet it has a looseness that is thoroughly modern. Zest comes in three styles: -- Zest-Medium, which is medium-weighted and appropriate to a wide range of applications; -- Zest-Drama, in which the contrast between the the thicker and thinner parts of a brushstroke has been dramatically enhanced; and -- Zest Bezel, in which the brush strokes have been given a contemporary, square-cut appearance. This is a display version of a stylized sans serif font family that is very high-waisted and sleek called Bergsland Fashion. This four-font set has a Regular and a Black plus the italics. The stroke is only slightly modulated. The letterforms are higher, with a more open aperture, and sprinkled with breaks to add light and sparkle. This an attempt at a readable sans serif for text. It has many OpenType features and 465 characters per font: Caps, lower case, small caps, old style figures, numerators, denominators, accents characters and so on.

Bound to rules, unbound in the usage. Hyper geometric, and minimal contrast. Circulo V1 is based on a font project I originally started because of a client I had. I wanted to create a display and text font for their product design brand, which is all about reducing the amount of necessary materials and production steps. Before I started the course at tipo-g it was called -“REDUCE“ and was more or less finished. The concept was based on the name. How far can letter shapes be reduced to their core geometric concepts and still be identified as letters? But in a way, it lacked a unique approach and was just a generic geometric Sans Serif with a lack of finesse. There was already a glimpse of characteristics visible which would later define Circulo V1. ‍ The high focus on geometric shapes was not of the same severity, and the angle on the stems was less intense. Those, as I call them, fake serifs turned out to be a significant factor in legibility and the characteristic of the font. Besides those changes and improvements, I decided to implicate a new feature to the concept, a condensed style. I quickly realised that it is impossible to keep my perfect circles and half-circles in this style without breaking my rules for the font. This „problem“ turned out to be the most crucial feature of the condensed set. Circular-based Letters will ignore the rules and boundaries of the condensed style and stay as they are. This feature allows the user to create a unique rhythm in their texts, and if you use the variable font, you can decide how intense this rhythm will be. In this situation, the user can choose which letters are allowed to keep their shapes and which will be put in their condensed corset. All, some or none of them, you decide.

In addition to his jewelry design, he did advertising work for customers in Naples, London and New York in addition to customers in cities all over Germany.
