American Copper Family is a vintage font inspired by an old American motorcycle logo. The logo looks very manly and strong, just like the motorbike. American Copper Script is the dominant one that turns the logo into a font. Whereas the Sans and Block family is a complement to the Script. But all three are a very good unit to be juxtaposed together. American Copper is a font made for you (designers) who love automotives: old cars and motorbikes. Anything related to automotive. Back in late 2019, Wahyu Wibowo designed a logotype for Wahyu and Sani Co., he decided to shorten the name to be WSCo. for the logo. Then by the end year of 2021, he got an idea to develop the typeface he did for the logo and start developing a font family which can be used for company branding. Now the typeface has come to life with the name "Warkat". The font family comes in two styles, upright and italic. It has 14 styles in total and additional two variable fonts. Each font has more than 580 glyphs including the alternates which covers Western and Eastern Europe Latin based languages and equipped with functional OpenType features like standard and discretionary ligatures, various format for numbers, ordinal, etc.

DESIGN STORY—THE FORGOTTEN SANS by Dave Lawrence, Lead Designer, California Type Foundry Adrian Frutiger was the 20th century master of sans, but I didn't realize he had made—not one—but TWO geometric sans! It wasn't until I had purchased the book “Adrian Frutiger: Typefaces”. I had hoped to someday meet Adrian Frutiger, but he passed away that very same year. Here is the story of Frutiger's forgotten sans. Back in 1968, Frutiger was approached by Pentagram to make a design for British Petroleum. They wanted a "new version of Futura". However, they wanted him to make a couple adjustments. First, they felt that Futura was "too fiddly." By this, they meant that it narrowed too much at the joins. (Joins are for example where the round and straight parts of the 'd' meet.) This is something that is necessary for small print text (to prevent ink clogging), but is not necessary at large sizes. Second, they wanted it to be entirely geometric, using the circular shape with minimal optical corrections. Unfortunately this font was not even used very consistently in the BP brand. A haphazard mix of Futura and Frutiger's BP font ensued. It was then replaced by another font design very soon after. My design is different in several ways. First, the commas and quotes are a more modern style. I tried his original commas, but these just didn’t work to 21st century eyes. Second, in his drawings, Frutiger went for a more standard u with a downstroke on the right. However, Oceanwide has a simpler u. Third, I made more optical adjustments. At the direction of his employer, Frutiger reluctantly put no font optical corrections into the letters. So I think my optical adjustments are similar to what Frutiger would have wanted. Fourth, I extended the weight into the light and extra light ranges. Fifth, the rest of the font I created according to the principles of Adrian Frutiger, but with no sources for inspiration. Here is Frutiger’s design philosophy, in his own words: “If you remember the shape of your spoon at lunch, it has to be the wrong shape. The spoon and the letter are tools; one to take food from the bowl, the other to take information off the page... When it is a good design, the reader has to feel comfortable because the letter is both banal and beautiful.” The words about the spoon were the ones I kept in my mind as I tried to make the curves ultra smooth, and the shapes ultra simple. Hopefully this font is a worthy successor to the font that inspired it. This is Floral Decay, your seasonal autumn font with jaded, weathered, and earthy contours of rustic lettering. As they blend into words, the characters evoke floral arrangements of a decaying beauty. It is versatile, playful, and perfect for Graphic Design decorations! This font is unique because, in order to create it, I had to answer some tricky questions: What makes autumn… autumn? Capturing the essence of the other seasons into your letters comes easier. For instance, in order to suggest summer, you only need to draw a few flowers. How about autumn? You could garnish your letters with a few grapes, you might think, but it would only result in a grape-themed font. The notion that is more directly associated with autumn is the image of falling and withering leaves, which brought me to the second question. How exactly are you going to create something beautiful out of a somewhat morbid premise, like wilted leaves? Well, I soon realized that by creating a handwritten font and preserving the right imperfections, you can actually portray collateral beauty. In this context, asymmetry is important because it suggests decay. Further on, the design concept required the letters to come very close together, so that every typed word can be regarded as a floral arrangement. How close together, though? As much as possible without confusing one with the other, risking a lack of legibility. Therefore, in contrast with the demo version of this font, this actual version provides the ideal kerning.

Macis is a real-and-fake-retro-modern font-family containing five weights from thin to black. It is inspired by shop signs, packaging and typography from around the middle of 20th century. Though it is strictly geometrically constructed, it contains some hand-crafted influences as well as some irregularities. This is a cute story about a mother and her son. :) About a decade ago my own mother got very interested in my work. She used to say my letters had so many swirls and dazzling swashes, and suggested my job seemed to be very fun. She wondered if she could ever try to make her own alphabet... Well, she is a civil engineer and a maths teacher, and appeared to be a little tired of exact sciences... I remember answering this, while she was listening with her typical tender look: -"Mamá... While type-design may be a really enjoyable thing to do, it also involves having a great eye and knowledge about the history of letters: nice curves and shapes require a meticulous study and, like it happens in many fields, practice makes perfect"-. Well, she raised her eyebrows at me. -"and so what?"- She didn't have any experience neither in the field of art nor in the field of graphic design so, I told her that if she really wanted to get into this she should borrow some of my calligraphic books from my beloved shelves in my office. So... she did. Some weeks after that, she came to me with many sketches made with pencils and markers: some letters where very nice and unique while others naturally needed some work. I remember she added ball terminals to all of her letters (even if they didn't need them) because that was one of the rules she imposed. After some back and forth, we had the basis for what would be today, ten years later, the seed of this lovely font Girasol. Her proposal was nice, something I was not accustomed to do, that’s why many years later I decided to watch it with fresh new eyes and finished it. While she was in charge of making the lowercase letters, I helped with the uppercase and also added my hallmark in the alternates, already seen in others of my expressive fonts. The result is an upright decorative font that follows the behavior of the copperplate nib with a naive touch that makes it really cute and useful for a wide range of products. Many alternates per glyph make Girasol a very fun to use font which will delight you. Above posters are a proof of that! This font is a gift for my mother, Susana, who, in spite of her exacts academic background, taught me that beauty can also be found in the imperfect. 1 NOTES (1) In my fonts I'm always in seek of the perfect curve. Kia ora is a M?ori-language greeting which is used as an informal greeting, equivalent to "hi" or "hello", or an expression of thanks. The koru (M?ori for loop or coil) is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling frond. It is an integral symbol in M?ori art, carving and tattooing, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. Its shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, while the inner coil suggests returning to the point of origin.

Chaweng is a coastal region on Ko Samui, an island in the Golf of Thailand, about 20 miles off the mainland. The design of Chaweng is based on some 'Latinese' characters Peter Rosenfeld detected while celebrating Chinese New Years Eve with people from Thailand and China on the beach of Chaweng. Ralph M. Unger took on the idea and developed a completely new typeface, very beautiful, very 'Latinese'. Chaweng obviously shows some of the typical characteristics of Chinese ideograms, still keeping a high level of legibility. To add something really special, Unger digitized the Chinese signs of the zodiac which change annually, on the occasion of the Chinese New Years Eve.Chaweng is perfect for signs and small texts, e.g. for any Asian restaurant and shops, menues, displays, China towns etc.

Frutiger® Serif is a re-envisioning of Meridien,a typeface first released by Deberny & Peignot during the 1950s. Working closely with Adrian Frutiger, Linotype's Type Director Akira Kobayashi expanded the original metal type version of Meridien into a new digital family of 20 variants. URW Geometric is a sans serif typeface inspired by the German geometric typefaces of the 1920s but designed for modern usability. The character shapes have optimized proportions and an improved balance, the x-height is increased, ascenders and descenders are decreased. These design characteristics increase the usability and legibility tremendously. Accordingly to the URW Geometric, Boutros Fonts designed the URW Geometric Arabic. 10 weights, which harmonize perfectly with the Latin ones, were created – from Thin to Black.

ZABARS is a full font developed from the six characters in the spectacular logo of the Zabar’s speciality foodstore in New York City. The Zabar’s lettering is a jewel, possessing greater sophistication and subtlety (and a more contemporary flavor) than the usual bifurcated (split serif) font which might simply suggest ‘Circus’ or ‘Old West’. And it’s been given an even fresher twist through the addition of a new lowercase which helps add to the 1960s countercultural aspect of the font’s personality.

Museum Tertia Cursive is inspired by a beautiful set of 126 matrices in the Swedish Norstedts type collection. These types were probably manufactured in Germany before 1750. The matrices are part of a set imported to Sweden by J.P. Lindh from Breitkopf & Härtel 1818. Now this exquisite design is available again, thanks to type designer Torbjörn Olsson. Chank created Zsazsa Galore as a fresh alternative to Mister Frisky, another jerky, hypercaffeinated interpretation of the traditional roman alphabet. The difference this time is that the new font has no descenders. Every letter comes to rest hard on the baseline. It sits there firmly rooted with branches wiggling around in the air. It was released as the Chank Font of the Month in October 1999 and it was named after Zsa Zsa Gabor because she is beautiful.
