Mafra, the debut typeface by Pedro Leal, a type family suited both for editorial and corporate design, available in five weights, ranging from Light to Black with matching italics. Mafra is a contemporary typeface with plenty of style, asymmetrical and very dynamic serifs, and pleasent openness and balance.

This font looks forward to the humanist venetian oldstyle flavor. With high contrast and nice modulation, it has low x height wich is ideal for reading and to design books or long texts. Vecchia has a calligraphic basis and counts with small caps, ligatures and open face titling capitals.

Since the beginning, “Histories” has been inspired by the shape of the letters displayed on the cover of fairy tale books or animated film covers. Narcissus Open is a heavy typeface designed by Walter Tiemann in 1921 for the Klingspor Foundry in Germany. It is a shaded wide roman using a very modest amount of white highlighting. Serifs are extremely delicate, almost ornamental. This elegant old typeface gives a feeling of importance and authority and is highly effective when used in large display sizes. Narcissus Solid lacks all highlighting and becomes more useful in smaller sizes. Narcissus Open and Solid are also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. I bought a new coffee machine - the piston variety. It is shiny, made in Italy and I can make a killer espresso or latte with it. I usually start off the day with a pour over coffee and save my milky coffee for later. I also have two grinders: one for a coarse grind (pour over) and one for a finer grind (espresso and latte). Yes, you will probably say that it’s quite extravagant to have two grinders, but I do like my coffee! Anyways, this is what I thought of when I worked on Coarse Grind. Coarse Grind is a well balanced all caps display font. It comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case letters.

Compact sans, ideal for setting long texts in small or very small type sizes: for packaging, instruction booklets, drug information leaflets and anything else that has to be legible at very small sizes. Lean and rhythmical, designed ideally to be used at less than 8 points (Brevier was the old typefounders’ name for 8-point type), Brevier holds up well even under adverse printing conditions. The apparently geometric letterforms hide Renaissance characteristics, the x-height and openings are very generous and the strokes slightly modulated. In order to offset ink spread – which is inevitable when printing very small sizes of type – Brevier has large white spaces between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and many connections have been left open.

Portmeirion No.6 started life as an experiment by our designer, who was exploring the possibilities of a completely 'over-the-top' display Roman face, bringing in elements of Tuscan and 'Circus' design, along with anything else he felt like. He's instilled a little more discipline in the finished result...but just ever so little. We have Fred Stevens, a regular reader of our website to thank for the name. This font family is display sans-serif with different stylistic layers available as open type font. The main characters are geometric and neutral but when we change the contextual alternates open type feature the letterforms activate the cursive stylish set. Alacant is a family of slab serif fonts composed of seven weights and their versions in italics. One of the most characteristic advantages of this font is its particularly square shape, very short descenders, open counter-forms and precise kerning that provides a very good visual impact and clear legibility.

A 1950 reissue of the 1934 tune “With My Eyes Wide Open I’m Dreaming” had the title of the sheet music hand lettered in a semi-calligraphic sans serif design. This became the model for the appropriately named Semi Calligraphic JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Lonestar Western is a revival of the old classic slab serif font named Hellenic which was very popular in the middle to late 1800s. While watching an old western movie the opening credits caught my attention, it was the Hellenic font with spurs added which gave it a more western look.

The opening title for the 1962 Blake Edwards film "Days of Wine and Roses" [starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick] was the inspiration for Cocktail Hour JNL. Gold Fever is a revival of the old classic Caxtonian font originaly designed in the mid to late 1800s. Along with the original engraved shadow version new styles have been created making this decorative font set more complete.
