The upper-case letters of Lentzers fit into the shape of a convex lens and the lower-case letters fit into the shape of a concave lens. The typeface was designed to have concave shapes alternate with convex shapes so the letters snuggle together. The OpenType contextual alternatives (calt) feature will automatically make this happen if your word processor supports it. (To get only concave or convex shapes, one must turn off the contextual alternatives feature. With only concave shapes the spaces between letters form thin convex lenses and with only convex shapes the spaces between letters form thin concave lenses. The name of the family was inspired by these lens shapes and also by the name of distant ancestors.) Lentzers is caps only. It comes in three weights: light, regular, and bold. Frederic W. Goudy designed three weights of this friendly-looking sans serif font from 1922-1929 for Lanston Monotype in the United States. Goudy was attempting to impart freedom and personality to the sans serif form at a time when geometric sans serifs, such as Futura, were gaining rapid world-wide popularity. To achieve this challenging goal, he looked to lapidary inscriptions and manuscript writing for inspiration. He included elements such as slight swellings of terminal strokes, slab serifs on a few of the caps, alternate uncial forms, and a few swash strokes. The Enagol Math family consists of 4 weight plus True italics. It is a typeface with rounded Slab-Serif of Semi-Condensed proportions. I have composed all the proportions of the character based on a study of mathematical proportions related to the golden sequences of Perrin, Lucas and Fibonacci. From an initial matrix of golden proportions applied in the letters 'H' for capital letters and 'n' for lowercase letters, calculated for the versions of the extremes of the Light and Bold type, below I do the whole calculation of proportions using my formula of three axes and by interpolation I generate the intermediate versions Regular and Medium. For the Italic versions I have drawn a complete set of lowercase letters that give these fonts an aspect close to the Italic writing. In these versions I have also applied many optical corrections to balance the deformations created in many curves by the mere inclination of the letters, which in the case of this type is 11°.

Diverda Sans is a geometric family of typefaces that are all free from ornament. Swiss designer Daniel Lanz optimized Diverda Sans for maximum legibility. In contrast to many other modern typefaces, which try to squeeze the traditional rounder forms of the alphabet into square designs, and which often attempt to equalize the widths of the capital letters, Diverda Sans remains true to the proper proportions of the Roman alphabet. The x-heights of Diverda's characters are low, and the differences between curved, square, and triangular elements are very clear. Like the more calligraphic typefaces of the past, Diverda's strokes exhibit contrast that is inspired by movements of the pen on paper; down strokes are heavier than up strokes. Possible applications for the Diverda Sans include magazine design, as well as advertising for fashion, design, or architectural products. A couple of years before the second World War, Marcel Jacno, the popular French graphic designer who in the 1930s designed iconic posters for Gaumont and Paramount and famously illustrated the Gaulish helmet that first adorned the Gauloises cigarette packs in 1936, was asked by Deberny & Peignot to design a calligraphic typeface for the advertising market. Jacno's Scribe design, billed by D&P as a "virile ad writing" typeface, was released to some great fanfare in 1937, enjoyed some time of French spotlight, and was ready to make waves in the rest of Europe before the war broke out and snuffed its chances at international recognition. However, samples of it can still be found in some specialty post-war publications as an example of a trend that lasted a couple of decades, when Western European type manufacturers commissioned famous visual artists to design typefaces in order to capitalize on the artists' fame - the trend that brought us standards like Futura and the long list of Lucien Bernhard and Imre Reiner faces. This exclusive digital version of Jacno's design expands on the original concept with a large character set that includes plenty of alternates, a couple of different ways for seamless lowercase connections, three sets of figures, and extended Latin language support, adding up to over 540 characters in a one big, contextually-programmed font.

Jackalope is a new original script font from LetterPerfect Fonts. The design is a hybrid of pressure-pen calligraphy infused with whimsy and curlicue terminals. Letterforms are free-spirited and edges are rough, simulating spontaneous writing on rough paper. In addition to the full ANSI western character set, Jackalope includes a full set of small capitals, both lining and old-style numbers, and swash lowercase alternate characters that can be used as terminal letters at the ends of words for additional flourish. The genesis and realization of Jackalope was also a hybrid process. In 1996, LetterPerfect commissioned type designer Kathy Schinhofen to provide pen-written source material based on her commercial handwriting style and specifically on a logo she had designed for its "Viva la Fonts" line of script fonts. This work was digitized by LetterPerfect’s Garrett Boge and later fonticized by former Hallmark Cards type maven Myron McVay who unified the design and contributed additional characters. The design sat unfinished for over 12 years until Garrett Boge revived the project in 2010 filling out the extended character set. Jackalope is released in two versions: Jackalope LP Regular, which is the base font for continuous text setting; and Jackalope LP Expert, which includes swash variants, small capitals, and old-style numerals which can be swapped into text for extra flourish and effect.

The Parisii was a small Gallic people settled in the current Paris region, which gave its name to the city of Paris. According to Caesar (53 BC.), their main town (oppidum) was Lutetia (Paris). Parisii was born of inspiration to be leafing through some old magazines on the terrace of a cafe in the beautiful city that is Paris. Parisi is like the city: casual, youth, romantic, free spirited and, at the same time, sophisticated, elegant and classic. The Parisi family font is a lovely and casual handlettering script, which is based on gestual calligraphy. Parisi has a slight bounce and intentional irregularity giving your words a wonderful flow. In the early days of printing everything had to be worked out from scratch. This set of lettering is based on section headings used by the Printer Lucas Brandis (no known relation), the first printer to operate in the city of Lübeck around 1473. They remind me of a medieval version of the spray paint graffiti so often seen on the sides of trains. A bit on the crude side, but also and importantly extremely noticeable. So whether you use it for creating old styled printing or some wild modern eye grabbing text item, its robust and sturdy shapes will be certain to grab the eye.

London is one of my favourite cities, so it was about time I named a font after it. Well, technically, I named a font after one of London’s districts. Southwark comes from the Anglo-Saxon word Suthriganaweorc, which means ‘Fort of the men of Surrey’. The font Southwork is a handmade Clarendon. I used a Japanese brush pen to create the outlines. I gave the glyphs texture by filling them in with a brush and Chinese ink. Southwark, therefore, has an uneven look and a brushy texture. It looks good on just about anything, but posters, greeting cards and product packaging come to mind.

SK Cynic is a modern geometric experimental font. Inspired by modern industrial graphic design. The font form is based on a 8x8 grid, which makes it stricter and more accurate. The name comes from a British expression about two things that couldn't be more different, and it suits this offering to a tee. The uppercase of this typeface is based on 1930s lettering by French poster artist Charles Loupot, and the lowercase is based on 1910s lettering by German plakatmeister Ludwig Hohlwein. Oddly, the two seem to play together well. Both versions of the font include the 1252 Latin and 1250 CE character sets (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).
